http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/31/april-fools-alert-1-wii-tvs-future-zelda/An April Fool's prank from the people at WiiTV, apperently the idea is that Zelda's moving into the future. Makes me wonder, will we ever see a futuristic Zelda? After all, the first five Final Fantasy games were high fantasy, the sixth was something of a cross between 18th-19th century technology and magic. Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and X followed in a more science fiction setting, mixed with some magic. Personally, I'd rather Zelda not move into the anything outside of high fantasy, things get too messy, plus I just don't think it'd be fitting for the Zelda series.

That was incredibly faked, but at the same time still rather impressive. As for the idea of Zelda moving forward a century or twelve, it scares the crap out of me. Thinking it could be too big a change for the franchise. I know people want an evolution, but this would be far more than that.
Zelda's charm lies in the fact it is a legend, and to set a game in the future is kind of like predicting things to come.

That would be terrible. Future? Like high tech? Yeah right.
I second what EzlosApprentice says as this is ridiculous.

That's stretching it too far if the idea became reality. I prefer magic over futuristic tech stuff for Zelda any day. I'm perfectly contented with the time setting.

Well that is what a lot of pepole said about final fantsy but it worked.
But for it to work they would need to basicly scrap everything that has been in zelda to this day but link, zelda and maby the master sword. But I would think it would use the magi-technolgy simalr to some tales games.

That was a horror show. I much prefer the time set in which Legend of Zelda is set currently. Plus the sword upgrades would get kinda cheesy in a futuristic setting...
Hoopla, no. Bad. Don't compare Legend of Zelda to Final Fantasy.

There is no real way they could keep the "traditional" Master Sword as it would be made of materials of old, easily destroyed by a future technology.
... Light Sabres...
God, just linking that to Zelda makes me die a little inside.

You feel it too? I was thinking of Link shooting a gun instead of a bow. Also, imagine how gay bombs would become.

actually, if the setting was a victorian steam punk one, I sort of would find it funny. Albeit not as a game.

Don't call all these lights "the Light of God"; It is the eternal light which is the Light of God, The ephemeral light is an attribute of the body and the flesh. ...Oh God who gives the grace of vision! The bird of vision is flying towards You with the wings of desire.

Ugh, that was an ugly vid. Zero credibility.
- Zelda logo which didn't even look like the official one - Guys' comments which are obviously non-genuine - utter, utter unrealisticness of the whole thing - and completely bizarre way of presenting it
This is where I would love to look around at other fora to see some lame-ass people actually getting worked up over this. Cause that, good people, is the true spirit of April Fool's. To mock the fools among us.

I also think Zelda should stay a magical/fantasy world. I hope Link will NEVER use a gun! Master Sword ftw!

I couldn't even watch the whole thing; it was almost painfully obvious right at the start that they had "lifted" (i.e. stolen) Star Wars concept art and fanart.
As for the idea, while I wouldn't like it if it became sci-fi, I'd enjoy it if it had steam-technology and whatnot. Think Zelda mixed with Final Fantasy IX (those who've played the game know what I'm thinking). It would make things certainly more interesting, while still retaining the whole Renaisannce feel of the games.

Well, I can see they put a whole lot of effort to it. I hate the idea that something like this would happend to the Zelda-series. Uhh...

..I would probably cry if I had to wait 2-3 years for a new zelda game.. to find out that they reverted everything to the future.

I would NEVER play a high tech Zelda. It's great the way it is, and doesn't need to be 1/2 FFVII, or any of that mechanical shit.

I would freaken love a high tech zelda...and he doesn't have to have a gun either...just because there are guns in the game doesn't mean he has to use them. Jedis don't use guns lol...
I think they could actually make it look really cool. I swear Zelda fanboys fear change. They are scared of voice overs and they are scared of any sort of change in setting. I mean most zelda fans practically shit a brick when wind waker was first announced. There were even a lot of zelda fans who claimed Zelda would never work in a 3D world back when the oot was first announced. I think it would be really awesome to be able to see how the world of hyrule evolved to modern times.
