Consolidation?

Not that I post here all thag often, but it seems like activity in the gaming section is kinda low.  Perhaps consilidating the forum categories could help.  For example:

Instread of having seperate boards for Microsoft, Sony and Multiplatform/legacy you just roll into into a General Gaming forum.  Then consolidate the Nintendo categories into a General Nintendo forum.  Just a suggestion.

I suggested this a few years ago, and maybe it's time to reconsider it. We'll talk it over, but we might wait and see how the forum is doing after Skyward Sword is released.

I don't think nintendo warrants its own board either, despite this being a forum about a nintendo game outside of zelda theres no real alleigiance amongst most of the members to any system or series of games.

Half of us only just barely like zelda.

Those must be the members that never post, because this year's posts in the Zelda board outnumber this year's combined posts in the PlayStation and 360 boards by 15 to 1. Try again.

Did I say fucking zelda boards? I said nintendo, which if you'll check the general nintendo board is outranked by the multiplatform forum.

Wii may beat it, but do we really need that many nintendo boards when the only one that is most definitely used to a reasonable amount of traffic is the wii one?
Can't we at least merge those.

Well sure, it might be a good idea to merge the Nintendo boards into one Nintendo board, but how am I supposed to infer "we only need one Nintendo board" from "I don't think nintendo warrants its own board" and an implied "(and Zelda barely deserves its own board)"? Especially when we're talking about making a General Gaming board. It sounded more like you wanted all of the video game boards to be merged into one, while ignoring (or perhaps thumbing your nose at) the activity generated by Zelda and Nintendo discussion. I wasn't trying to be passive aggressive.

I read that, along with the last sentence which contradicted it (admittedly I should have quoted that instead). Anyway we shouldn't have this argument here, we can move it to PMs if you want to keep going.

I do like the Nintendo merge idea, but again we'll probably wait until after Skyward Sword or even Wii U releases before making a decision.

the last sentence didn't contradict it at all, I don't think NH, akie, chibi, nemo, etc post very often in the zelda forums. you can half the forum be meh about zelda while there still being a clear focus of the forum thats obvious.

But nintendo as a whole? not so much. I like nintendo, most people on this forum do, but I think theres also a shit load of ps3 or xbox fans, which while not outnumbering them overall in numbers do mean the nintendo board does not come in first place.

Zelda does sure, it's a fucking zelda forum, but it isn't a wii or DS forum, so if we're gonna make a general gaming forum to consolidate the playstation and xbox threads based on the numbers nintendo doesn't really warrant being seperate.

Zelda does, based on posts, because around half the members do want to talk about it.

Basically my point from the start if you'd read my post without deciding to read into it something that wasn't there was, zelda is fine, but nintendo having precendence is not, this is not and never has been a nintendo forum.
It is a zelda forum.

All right. I get what you're saying, but I still don't really agree. There's been a LOT more discussion in the Nintendo boards than in the Xbox board or the PlayStation board this year. While we're not *officially* a Nintendo board, the amount of Nintendo discussion that goes on warrants the existence of a separate board from other first-party game companies.

We do have a lot of Sony and Microsoft fans, but that's only a factor if those people are posting in the Sony and Microsoft forums, and for the most part they haven't been.

The number of posts in the Nintendo section(General Nintendo/Wii/DS) is much greater than the PS3 and 360 sections combined, there's about as much activity in all of general Nintendo as there is in the combined total of the PS3/360/PC and Multiplatform/Legacy Gaming boards(the majority of those posts residing in multiplaform). 

Based on those merits, I'd say Nintendo deserves its own dedicated board for Wii/Wii U, DS/3DS and generalities.  But at the same time, I could also see an extreme consolidation working.  I dunno how much or how little the effect of the release of Skyward Sword will help, it seems to me that fan sites are a dying corner of the Internet and with TSA gone it's pretty much been slowing down.  Of course, I handed the reigns over to you kids long ago, so you must do what you think is right, of course.
