North American release date: 20th Nov.

I'm hoping this is going to be a worldwide release date.

Unless the European version gets delayed for translations or whatever, Europe should get it by the 24th/25th too at the latest, if all goes as normal.

I dig that.  I won't be tempted to rush through it, then :D

well, i'm a little confused, this site:
http://www.justpushstart.com/2011/08/17/gamescom-2011-the-legend-of-zelda-skyward-sword-eu-release-date-announced/
writes that the EU gets SS on the 18th, but writes that no NA release date has been announced...Ign reported the 20th of Nov date for NA.  Not sure whats going on here...

Thought this deserved its own thread.

That article was written before the North American date was announced. It's a European event after all.

The date's a bit closer to Thanksgiving than I would like (I paradoxically find more time to play when I'm at school), but excited nonetheless. Hope we get a new trailer soon!

They have announced it officially.

*bounces eagerly*

It's easier to get excited about something once there's a firm date scribbled on your calendar and a set number of days to count down to. Save the two trailers which have been released and that rubbish bit of footage GameTrailers had after the E3 presser I'm going spoiler- and hype-free into this one.

Well, no artificially produced PR hype.

Probably a good idea.  The last big trailer was nice but I don't like it when all the cool cutscenes have had some parts shown in trailers already so it's not as cool anymore in the game (it was like that with TP - all those in between cutscene events).

I would like to hear some stuff about the siren world before release, maybe a new trailer too. In all honesty i don't want to hear/see all that much, but i need something bigger to tie me over till release...

They'll probably make a launch trailer available in November, but I don't need any more story details than we already have.

I hope the "world up there" won't be too disproportionate to the one down there.  Like, going to Hyrule in TWW was great, but there was pretty much nothing there besides the castle, a road, and Ganon's Tower.

The other way around would be lame too - if you could explore the world up there in a matter of minutes whereas Hyrule down there would be as large as TP's.

"before Christmas" is the official release date for australia...
Nintendo, why do you never do world wide releases, especially for your biggest franchise...i am dissapointed(if it is a remarkably later date then the 20th of nov that is...)

If Europe gets it first I promise I won't make you all super jealous by posting early impressions (that most people will have to fight the urge not to read)

We're not finding pointless reasons to get upset, right? Good.

Ooh, no you should. I'd read it if you tagged bigger spoilers.

It might just all be PR, of course, but Bill Trinen claimed at E3 that the "world below" is fairly expansive. I'm not worried, though I hope the overworld isn't excessively segmented.

They did have a couple of years (and not all the issues with GC vs Wii TP) so it probably won't be a short game either (though admittingly TP was TOO long, lol,  I'd rather have seen less dungeons and more optional fun stuff).

But yeah, I'm good at not getting too worked up over an impending release date, so I'll continue to avoid videos and screenshots.  There'll be other games before SS is released, too, so its not like I need new material to survive

Well yeah, I can still make very generic impressions; talking abstract without giving examples is one of my fortes, lol.

2 days...ain't no thang...

I really want to hear about the Gameplay mechanics of the Siren World before release, not so much the story of it (although i'd speculate that it will be the sacred realms predecessor or something of the sort), just because its the only part of the game that i'm actually not sold on, it actually sounds tedious and annoying.

Those who have knowledge of these things, when do you think we are next going to get some info/trailers on SS? wait till november or is there a Nintendo intensive conference before then?

We don't usually find out about Nintendo's media events until a few weeks before they are held, but I'd expect any fall summit to focus more on 2012 releases and the Wii U (after all, they still haven't properly announced any games for it). We'll probably get a launch trailer a few days/weeks before Skyward Sword is released.

Does anyone remember when they 'released' TP's intro sequence?  How long was that before the game came out?

I definitely don't want to watch that - it's all part of the attraction of buying a new game and enjoying the intro sequence.

Also, the trailer that came after the intro (for TP) was one we'd already seen, too, with the same music.   In case they'd pul that again it's safest to just stay away from such things before the release.  But that's just me

yeah i remember that, that intro tried so hard to be the epic, triumphant next level of OoT's intro, kinda failed drastically too.  I don't think i've ever seen a Zelda intro more moving then OoT's.

Gah, waiting...waiting for november, Zelda and Skyrim in the same month...wow
