Very good chapter once again!! Ales is starting to reveal his past, wich makes his background and personality even greater. Nice work! It looks like almost an official character to me.

Just like my Goya (<--avatar), wich has a wide past thought up by me as well. It's almost perfect, so that I can make a comic biography of him in the future! But again, that'll take a while. Meanwhile, you can still enjoy my drawings of him.

So Ales, keep up the good work of your fic..once again! I'm really stunned!

thanks a LOT for the kind words:blush:
by the way the tree mentioned more in detail in this chapter is actually in TP, see if you can find it as it stands out among the other quite a bit:)

Chapter: 21

Practicing with his old mentor had taught him a lot about life and his purpose in life. He had also learned that the place they were in wasn’t real. It was like an illusion where your soul was kept and time in the normal world never passed here. So long ago by a tree like that one deep within the lost woods he and Mikaru used to sit and discuss life. It looked like it used to:

The tree was a bit bigger than all the others and stood all alone surrounded by walls reminding you of a room. You had to climb a small ledge to get to it. But that wasn’t as important as his mission.

“I am impressed with your results Ales, finally you have fulfilled your training as a Hylian knight. We shall have one final fight before you may go” Mikaru said with a large smile on his lips.

Their swords clashed together and it echoed throughout the forest, they both parried and attacked each other until Ales ducked and swiped at Mikaru’s feet. Mikaru jumped and was about to land a blow to Ales’ head when he grabbed Mikaru’s sword wit his left hand and threw him above himself resulting in Mikaru landing behind Ales with a crash. They both continued their sparring but Ales knew he had to win this fight if he were to leave.

“Try the helm splitter Ales” Mikaru yelled. Ales frowned as he had already mastered this attack before. As he fought the Yeti he had performed the back slice, shield bash, helm splitter and finish move, Mikaru had taught him the great spin, Mortal draw and jump strike. Instead of obeying Mikaru he sheathed his blade and then drew it with extreme agility and swept it at Mikaru who was sent flying. The mortal draw was indeed useful.

“Enough, you have proven to me already many times over that you have mastered the skills of a Hylian knight however you can only truly be one once someone from the royal family says so.” Ales nodded  and smiled.

“Which way out? He asked and looked around him. Mikaru chuckled:

“This is an illusion and only I can let you leave this place, you know that already. Before you go there is something you must know:” Ales got curious and sat down by the tree, Mikaru smiled and did the same.

“Good thing I can repair things like these in an illusion isn’t it?” Mikaru laughed but Ales looked down a bit ashamed.

“Nalé betrayed you Ales, he told Link of your position” he said. Ales felt his heart drop and his hands started shaking. He remembered that time where they were on the mountain and Nalé asked to be left alone. Ales had returned inside before him. He couldn’t believe it at first but later he realized that it was indeed plausible: Nalé had always been jealous of his skill and popularity among the costumers. He wished that he could be as famous as Ales, it ended with Nalé selling his friendship for a bag of rupees. Ales felt sick at the thought.

“The intense fire coming from you wasn’t what made that cave collapse, Nalé used his strength to crush some pillars causing it to do so. He also lured the Yetis into kidnapping Zelda. He was working for Link just waiting for the right moment to betray you.” Mikaru said. Ales got up on his legs again and didn’t wish to listen anymore. But he knew he had to and Mikaru wouldn’t let him go.

“There is one part of the legend of Hesernagoth that you haven’t heard Ales: he left his essence inside the Triforce of courage” Ales was startled by the thought and turned around and faced Mikaru. He continued:

“The goddesses couldn’t sense or find him as long as he hid there and inside it he built up power ever turning stronger. He knew he needed someone to carry the piece and so he made Ganondorf to lure the goddesses into creating a new guardian which would obtain the piece. This guardian was Link the hero of time and obtain the piece he did. At first he didn’t feel anything but after years of possessing it Hesernagoth tormented his mind with nightmares, hallucinations and physical pain. For many years the Hero’s mind was tortured and he grew weaker and weaker under Hesernagoth’s might.”

“Ganondorf only exists because Hesernagoth needed bait?” Ales exclaimed with a surprised look.
Mikaru nodded and carried on:

“Slowly Link fell ever closer to insanity and after many years he snapped, his mind couldn’t stand it anymore. He turned into nothing more than a beast that wanted to kill as much as possible. Destroy was the only thing he knew. Link was an insane and lost man, then Hesernagoth struck and made Link obey his orders and once he knew that Link obeyed his wishes he channeled his powers to him and Link became “the dark triangle”.”

“So without Hesernagoth Link is nothing more than a confused animal that wants to destroy things?” Ales asked still very interested in the story.

“Yes Hesernagoth is kind of like that voice in your head that tells you to burn a house down, Link himself has no mind of his own anymore, he’s a mere puppet, an empty shell…a hero’s shade, without Hesernagoth Link would grow very unstable and with the great powers he was given he’d be a major threat, a being that does not know when to stop”.

Ales approached Mikaru and grabbed his shoulder. He smiled at Mikaru and said:
“I’m not going to let him destroy Hyrule Mikaru don’t worry”. Mikaru nodded silently but seemed to be doubtful.

“Years ago Ganondorf was sealed within the sacred realm still with the Triforce of power in his hand. Link wants to set him free and take it from him. And with Hesernagoth’s powers Ganondorf will be nothing to him, Ales there is only on solution to this problem: you must release Ganondorf before Link and somehow gain his trust” Mikaru said with a frightened look.

Ales backed down a bit but got a hold of himself. He decided to not back down for anything anymore.

“You will need the Sage’s pendant to release him though, it is located within a tomb of an ancient sage, this tomb can be found somewhere in the lost woods but it is not without any danger. Afterwards you must go to “Hrielia” the gerudo’s word for “no name”. The place that no one dares speak of. There will be a dark temple there in which he can be released.” Mikaru sighed and sat down by the tree.

Ales stood up as if he was ready to go and Mikaru looked upon him first with sorrow but after that with pride.

“Your father would’ve been as proud of you as I am right now” he said. Ales looked down but smiled back. Mikaru started fading and so did everything around him. After a while everything was turned into a white nothingness.

“Farewell” Mikaru’s voice echoed throughout the void. Ales waved…he needed to be strong now. He was the only hope the world had left. After a while he was standing before the same tree as before only now it was for real. Ales was a bit discouraged as he didn’t know where to go. He looked around and was amazed with the beauty of the forest.

A flute playing a jolly song was heard in the distance…

Good, chapter, somewhat confusing at parts, because it seemed like it was a memory in some places, but none the less good job.

Hey long time since an update hmm? Well i suppose it's time to update then:happywink:

Chapter: 22

Having no idea on where to go next he decided to follow the sound. The song was happy yet it made the entire situation feel surreal and like a dream. He spotted a waterfall and the music seemed to be coming from there but he couldn’t see any possible entrance to it. He checked the waterfall in case there’d be a cave behind it but found nothing. Frustrated he sat down on a stump and pondered the situation, trying to come up with a way to reach this grave. After all the lost woods was a huge forest which never seemed to be geographically correct: you could walk for hours only to find out you’ve moved upwards some meters according to your map. It was a magical forest to be sure. Suddenly the music stopped and he heard a child’s laughter.

Ales had a bad feeling about this and unsheathed the sword given to him by Mikaru, the flute was heard again only this time it didn’t sound like music. After a few seconds there was once again no sound. The sound of light wood clapping together was heard and a strange wooden puppet like creature appeared before him. Its face seemed like something that was carved and it always had this creepy staring smile. It span around in an attempt to strike Ales but it was slow and was easily disposed of. Ales calmed down again and was just about to unsheathe his sword when the flute was heard again and this time 5 of these strange puppets appeared around him. Dodging them quickly he destroyed two of them with one blow and then back flipped over the other three killing them all with one spin attack. The child’s laughter again and the sound of tiny feet running away. Ales followed the sounds and ended up in an open area where small sunrays came down. This appeared to be some sort of grove and in the middle of it on top of a small pillar sat a creature with rags and played the same song Ales had heard before. The creature looked at him and laughed with the same child’s laughter as before. He then took his flute and put it to his mouth. He was about to blow it when Ales’ sword came flying and struck it out of the creature’s hand. Ales then quickly leapt and grabbed the creature. On a closer look he noticed that this boy was made out of wood...this creature was one of the fabled skullkids.

“Lemme go” the boy shouted with an annoyed voice. Ales held on tight and walked up to his sword and grabbed it. He then smiled at the boy and said:

“Since you tried to kill me but failed I think you owe me a guided tour around this forest don’t you think?” The skullkid growled but finally nodded his wooden head, Ales let go of him but kept his eyes on him.

“Do you know of a grave in this forest that once belonged to an ancient sage?” Ales asked and twirled his sword a bit in front of the nose of the skullkid. The boy nodded and gestured Ales to follow him. He followed the boy for hours, jumping between gaps, fighting creatures in the forest and climbing walls. Finally he found himself in the same grove as before and looked around the area deeply wishing that it was a different are that simply looked similar. But it was indeed the same place as before.

The skullkid chuckled and pointed at the pillar he had been standing on a few hours ago. The boy’s laughter carried on to insane laughter and he fell over on his back laughing. Ales didn’t find this funny though. He had been in front of the grave all the time and yet the skullkid had dragged him all over the forest and forced him to endure many tough things.

“Why you little” Ales yelled and threw himself on the laughing skullkid and strangled him. After a while the skullkid vanished and appeared on a tree still laughing. Then he disappeared into thin air. Ales didn’t bother much more about the skullkid and pushed the pillar trying to open it in some way. He couldn’t find a way to open it though and smashed his fist into it out of frustration. The pillar made a cracking sound and moved by itself revealing a hole. Ales was surprised that this simple thing was the way to open it, but he couldn’t really complain since he had finally made it to the grave.

The air was dusty and it was hard to breathe as he walked down some stairs into a growing darkness. After a bit of walking down the stairs he reached an altar with candles around it. In the middle of it all was a coffin with the symbol of light on it. Ales slowly approached it and opened the lid. Inside of it was a dead and old man with worn out clothes. He was amazingly well preserved but was clearly dead. Ales stood there for a while just staring at the body when all the candles suddenly went out and the old man opened his eyes…but there were no pupils, they were all white and they glowed in the darkness. The old man opened his arms and Ales felt drawn into it. He fell into the coffin but continued to fall in darkness for what seemed like an eternity.

He finally landed on a platform that looked very similar to an arena but it seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. In front of him stood the same old man with a sword in his hand that glowed of light. Ales didn’t really know what to do and just stared at the man.

“So evil tries to corrupt my tomb, you shall never corrupt me as you have corrupted others, I Rauru the sage of light shall send you back to the darkness whence you came” The man yelled and leapt at Ales and swung his light blade against him.
Ales attempted to block with his sword but it was easily destroyed by Rauru’s magical blade. Ales kept dodging the old Sage’s attacks as he had no weapon to fight with.

“Wait stop I have not come to hurt you, please I am not who you think I am” Ales said hoping to calm Rauru down. Rauru stopped his assault and frowned at Ales.

“Is your name Ales? Are you the reincarnation of Sela?” he asked. Ales nodded and smiled and calmed down, his adrenaline was pumping and he was jumpy.

“Then you must die before it happens again” Rauru suddenly yelled and attacked Ales once again. Ales dodged his attacks and was wondering what the hell he was talking about. He then noticed that he held some sort of pendant around his neck. Ales just knew that this was the sage’s pendant that he was assigned to retrieve. But how was he going to be able to defeat the sage?

“Only a fool trusts his life to a weapon” Ales recalled these words in his mind and knew what he had to do. As Rauru approached him and leapt at him he focused and felt the fire burn within him. Mikaru had taught him to use some of the abilities that Sela once possessed. He created many fire orbs and threw them at Rauru who was too slow to dodge them and was thrown on the ground. Ales then grabbed his neck and forced Rauru to drop his sword, after a while the blade fell to the ground and tears flowed from Rauru. Ales grabbed the pendant and spotted a blue light that would most likely teleport him away from this area. He dropped Rauru who fell down on the floor and just continued to stay there not even trying to get up.

“The legend of Hesernagoth is blasphemy, blasphemy I tell you. One should not mixture with time travelling” Rauru yelled like a crazed man. Ales kept walking toward the teleport and didn’t look back.

“Don’t do it Ales, go back and continue your life. It mustn’t happen again” He continued to yell. Ales entered the teleport and looked at the fallen man for a split second, and then he looked away and disappeared. Rauru looked down on the ground, cried and smashed his old hands into the hard stone.

“I have failed” he whispered

“I have failed”…

looking forward to your next chapter:ph34r:
And here's chapter 23 of my own story, i've also noticed that this place bleeps the swearing, well it'll probably be bleeped here too but i think you might be able to figure out what he says

Chapter: 23

He finally had the pendant he was searching for, all that remained was to find a way out of there, after all the lost woods was a place where one would easily get lost, hence the name. He felt the panic overwhelm him as it got darker. The lost woods could be dangerous at night and he didn’t even have a weapon. He decided to settle down for the night and started collecting wood and putting some stones in a circle. When all was set he started making a fire by rubbing two sticks together. After all there wasn’t a single cloud in the sky and none was approaching. Then he felt it and as he did horror overwhelmed him. He felt water, water dripping down on him. Before he knew it clouds were everywhere and it was raining heavily. In weather like this it would be impossible to make a fire.

“****ing great, and where did all the clouds come from all of a sudden?” He sought shelter under the roots of a huge tree. He sat there shivering in the cold. An old memory sparked in his mind:
It was cold and the rain came down like arrows striking him everywhere. The stench was overwhelming and blood combined with mud seeped into his clothes. In the middle of the Great War he had to hide from enemy troops among dead soldiers who had fallen. Their lifeless eyes stared at him as if they begged him to save them. As he heard sounds of soldiers patrolling along with their dogs that were used to track down survivors he had to bury himself under the corpses. He nearly suffocated because of the smell and only wished to throw up.

He could feel the feet of the enemy soldiers standing on top of him. Had it not been for the number of corpses that lay above him he would’ve been noticed. He laid there for several minutes in the stench hoping that the dogs wouldn’t notice him. But he wasn’t in luck this day; the dogs started barking loudly and started biting in the corpses above him. He had to think fast or he would soon feel several spears being plunged into himself. He looked around among the corpses, but it was impossible to see anything. Then he saw it: something that looked like metal. He grabbed it quickly and now realized that it was a sword. He quickly drew it and jumped up from among the corpses for a surprise attack. Blood flowed in the rain as his blade plunged itself into his foes.

The dogs were easily disposed of and their masters as well. He was safe and it was only him in the middle of a storm on top of a pile of corpses. Seconds after he threw up.
Back in the present, he came back to his senses as he felt a dark presence around him. Several Wolfos appeared, it seemed to be a group of them and they stared at him with hunger in their eyes. He used his fire powers to fend them off but there seemed to be hundreds of them and no matter how many he killed, more of them would soon appear. A dark cloud appeared from nowhere and took the shape of a knight with a black cape and dark armor. The knight took out a giant dark looking sword and with just one swipe wiped out all of the Wolfos.

The knight then stared at Ales and chuckled, its voice was dark and vile sounding. It sounded like a male being. It didn’t take long before Ales knew the identity of the knight:

“Hesernagoth” he yelled and threw several fire orbs at him, Hesernagoth took out his hand and grabbed them, holding the fire in his hand he threw them back at Ales who dodged them swiftly.

“I have not come to fight you this day, I did not save you only to kill you myself” Hesernagoth said with an amused tune in his voice. Ales backed down and stared at his old nemesis. Seeing him brought him a feeling of nostalgia. Hesernagoth chuckled once again and disappeared around a corner. Ales ran after him and now found him on top of a huge tree, from there he disappeared out of Ales’ sight. Ales quickly climbed the tree and found a passage up there. This went on for several minutes until Ales suddenly found himself in Hyrule field. Hesernagoth now stood before him and walked towards Ales who put himself in a defensive position.
“My history is hidden in the darkness and only you can see the truth” Hesernagoth said with a calm voice, Ales didn’t understand what he was talking about and readied himself for an attack. Hesernagoth noticed this and chuckled once again. He wore a helmet with long black horns and while the helmet held openings for his eyes to see through and his mouth to breathe from Ales couldn’t make out anything from it but darkness. His helmet’s design reminded him of the Darknut’s design a little bit. Hesernagoth quickly grabbed Ales by his neck and held him above the ground. It was hard to breathe but not impossible.

“Ah so young and naive, one day you shall see the truth” Hesernagoth said and seemed to examine Ales closer, as if he was curious. Ales tried to speak but couldn’t say anything in his current state.

“As he sleeps I can leave his mind and see what happens around the world, remember this as I will be watching you” He said with a serious tone. He then dropped Ales who quickly grasped for air as he sat on the ground. Hesernagoth turned around and started walking away from Ales. He stopped after a while and turned around now facing Ales. He then spoke with an amused and almost sadistic tone:

“You have seen the darkness and you have embraced it, one day you shall see the true face of darkness” Ales was enraged and leapt at Hesernagoth who simply took the palm of his hand and made Ales levitate, he then continued into smashing Ales into the ground multiple times and then threw him away a meter. Ales could barely get up on his legs and was too exhausted to get up again.

“We are truly the same you and I” Hesernagoth said and started laughing. Before Ales could do anything else Hesernagoth disappeared in a puff of smoke, this smoke was dark as darkness though.
In the distance he could see a horse running towards him. He got up on his legs with heavy breathing as the horse stopped next to him. It was white and it stared at him with its eyes. Then it nodded towards him and bowed down telling him to get on.

Ales did so but couldn’t understand where the horse came from, then he took a closer look at the saddle and then recognized the horse: it was Mikaru’s trusty steed Layne. Ales remembered how he used to ride this horse when he was just a child. Mikaru often allowed him to do so.

“Y-you remembered me?” Ales said with his depressed voice as he recalled these moments. Layne made a small nod and ran up on a hill giving Ales a great view of the rising sun and the rest of Hyrule field. Ales enjoyed the view and felt a tear coming from his eye.

“Did Mikaru send you?” He finally said and smiled at Layne. Layne turned her head a bit and looked at him. He could see the answer in her eyes and that answer was yes. Wasting no more time he set aim for his destination: Hrielia…

Here's the newest chapter, just finished writing it:)

Chapter: 24

Hrielia laid deep within Death Mountain, not even the local Gorons dared to go there. Ales didn’t like the whole idea either but he didn’t have a choice. He was more bothered with something else though: Hesernagoth’s acting the other night. Ales had always imagined Hesernagoth as some being that only lives for destruction and one that would kill Ales on sight. Yet he seemed intelligent and somehow not as evil as he imagined. He shook his head and tried to think of something else.

There was something about Hesernagoth that just wasn’t right, he couldn’t put his finger on it but it was there…that feeling when something’s not what it seems to be. He smacked himself on the head a couple of times desperate to get Hesernagoth out of his mind.

“Yer’ done smackin’ yourself in the head or should ye come back later?” a voice said that seemed to appear out of nowhere. It startled Ales who quickly scanned his surroundings and found a man standing next to him. The man was kinda short and wore a large hat on his head. He seemed to be a carpenter but Ales wasn’t sure. He followed the man through a passage leading to the mountain only to find many carpenters building a village.

“Yep we’re buildin’ a new Kakariko since the ol’ one disappeared some years ago” the man said with a jolly voice. Ales noticed how they tried to make it look like the old one: they even made a new graveyard next to it and it held a passage to the inner mountain where the Gorons lived, just like the old one. Ales was amazed how the carpenters could work in the same pace for hours, their endurance was truly one of gold. All the men building these houses or whatever reminded him how soldiers in the war were forced to build catapults in a very short time, how they hurried and many times they just didn’t make it and were mowed down. He remembered…

“This place is off limits mister” a man’s voice woke him up from his daydreaming. Apparently the passage to the inner Death Mountain was off limits while they were building new Kakariko. This greatly annoyed Ales:

“How come this place is a restricted area when you’re working over there?” He snapped at the carpenter. The carpenter didn’t move a muscle though and simply replied with:

“The Gorons are preparing the burial of their old chieftain and they do not wish to be disturbed” Ales was quickly losing his patience and did everything he could to hold back the words he wanted to say. Getting a hold of himself he responded:

“Look if you don’t let me go through then the Gorons along with the rest of the world are going to be very disturbed in a near future” the carpenter chuckled and gestured Ales to leave.

“Oh yeah sure and the hero of time is walking around killing innocents too right?” the carpenter said and laughed. Ales wasn’t even going to bother with getting started on that one. He was furious at the man who rejected him. A quick move and the carpenter’s neck was in a position it shouldn’t be. Ales continued through the passage quickly before anyone noticed. After following the passage way which was a simple road giving one an easy trip to the Gorons village. He dismounted Layne and first now he realized what he had just done:

He had killed an innocent man who was simply doing his job. This wasn’t the first time Ales had lost control of himself and his thoughts turned to Hesernagoth again. Upon entering the village hundreds of Goron eyes were staring at him. In the middle of it all there was an aged Goron who didn’t seem to be moving anymore, he was clearly their recently passed away chief.

“What kind of human dares to disturb our burial of the great Darunia?” a Goron who was standing next to the dead chief, this Goron had special clothing and was probably the one who was going to be the next chief.

“One who wishes to protect Hyrule from a great evil, my name is Ales and I wish you no harm” Ales said trying to get a peaceful solution to the situation. The Goron with strange clothing frowned but nevertheless introduced himself:

“Greetings Ales, I am Link hero of Gorons and the son of Darunia, state your business here” Ales nearly choked, Link? Why was he named after the hero of time? Link the Goron started to lose his patience with Ales who didn’t answer him. Finally Ales responded:

“I need to pass through your village to reach Hrielia, I am sorry for disturbing you but time is running out and I have to hurry” Link frowned once again and walked up to Darunia’s dead body. Silence passed for several minutes and Ales felt nervous about the whole thing.

“You” an elderly Goron suddenly yelled at him. Ales was startled by the sudden shout but found a Goron elder standing a bit away from Link.

“I know who you are, I know your future…I know your destiny” the Goron yelled. Ales really felt like leaving the area now but he knew he couldn’t.

“You think you’re a guardian of peace don’t you?” The elder said with all the other Gorons watching and listening all around the village.

“W-what are you talking about?” Ales said with a perplexed look on his face. The elder seemed to hate him more than anything for some reason.

“How dare you set your cursed talons in here? Be gone, we don’t need the biggest mistake the goddesses has ever made” The elder was yelling now and spat as he shouted, he was shaking and hate glowed in his eyes. The other Gorons took him away while he was still shouting at Ales and he could hear the echo of the old Gorons voice from afar. Link the Goron pushed a rock out of the way revealing a passage.

“You are not welcome here Sela, go to Hrielia and fulfill your destiny if you so wish, but I advise you not to” Link said with a cryptic voice. The hate seemed to glow in his eyes too as well as the other Gorons. Ales barely dared to look them in the eyes and even if he looked away he could still feel their eyes on him. Without saying a word he entered the passage and once he felt fresh air again from the mountain he felt relieved not having to be with the Gorons anymore. A wide and unexplored land appeared before him. This was Hrielia and Ales was getting ever closer to his goal.

But now Hesernagoth wasn’t the only thing bothering him, the way the Gorons acted and the sage Rauru. They all seemed to despise him for some reason. Ales wished he knew why they felt that way about him. And what was that talk about his destiny? And why was he a mistake of the goddesses?

“Din, Farore and Nayru I beg you, give me answers” Ales said to himself. But no such answer came. He was now in the middle of a dangerous wasteland with no weapon and this growing feeling that nothing was as it seemed…

you see lately i've noticed that i've made Ales somewhat like Link, while it was my intention that there was going to be some similarities i didn't mean to make him too much like Link.

That is why i tend to add these little "OMG LOSING MAH MIND" moments
plus one of the biggest twists ever that has yet to be revealed.

But then again as i'm rambling right now i suppose it is somewhat natural since the character Ales in the very earlier stages was pretty much exactly like Link and without an eyepatch or any scratches and such.

Luckily i decided to evolve his character a lot from that point

Now i'm not sure when you'll be seeing the next chapter since i don't have an exact plan for it in my mind yet. I don't wanna start writing when i'm not fully inspired.

Anyway rambling ends here and i'm really happy that you're enjoying it:)

Thanks a lot^^ oh and here's a new chapter..somewhat short i know

Chapter: 25

Rocks and dark fog as far as the eye could see. The moon stared at him with a cold and pale expression. As he climbed among the cliffs trying to find his way through the fog he could feel the dead that haunted these mountains stare at him with their hollowed faces. He could almost hear a grim song in the background sung by the dead, whispers from fallen ones and faces in the thick fog. No one knew what had happened at Hrielia anymore. But whatever had happened here, it wasn’t a pleasant story. The fog swept around him as if it tried to swallow him and he could see silhouettes walk around in it and around him. They could only be seen for a split second as they nearly flew around him. Their faces were hollow and their empty eye globes glared at him with open mouths as they swirled around in the fog like some sort of dance. But soon he saw bodies with heads shaking uncontrollably appearing in the fog.

The dead were dancing and singing their grim song, but it wasn’t really a song: it was more like groans and painful screams. Strange noises were heard in the background and he started to panic. As he did the dead danced ever closer. The fog itself created faces with the same hollowed and empty expressions. The stench of a pile of rotten corpses was always there no matter how much he ran. He couldn’t think clearly anymore and ran for his life. He jumped over cliffs and entire gaps to escape the dead but they were always there…around him like a nightmare kids often have when a monster is always there no matter how far you run.

The environment changed and it all turned to a bog where women in ruined dresses floated around the twisted trees and sat on the branches. Even the trees had faces and the same fog was always there. He ran as fast as he could and fell into the dirty waters. It was colored with blood and half eaten corpses were floating around, staring at him. He ran faster now, his heart thumped faster and faster and he wanted to throw up. He jumped another gap as he heard the song of the dead ringing in his ears. Now he was in a graveyard with twisted graves and the same faces and silhouettes in the fog. He ran between the many graves…the entire graveyard seemed endless. As he ran the fog grew thicker and he couldn’t even see his hand before his eyes. The silhouette of a man with a shaking head suddenly appeared before him and hit him so hard that he fell. He landed in front of a grave with a clear description on it, as he read it he was chilled to his bone:

Here lies Ales, a hero in life…a failure in death. A picture had been carved into the tombstone showing himself having a sword through his throat with a tormented look on his face, as he looked closer he noticed that this sword was his own: The Mizka. He flew up on his legs again and continued running as the same procedure continued. Crossing another gap he ended up in an open and foggy area where the dead circled him more frequently and groaned louder the cursed song of theirs. Everything started spinning in his mind and he felt faint. He fell on his knees and screamed loudly. Suddenly the fog retreated and the silhouettes disappeared and he was all alone again in front of what seemed to be a huge temple. Whispers of the dead were heard one last time:

“A grim fate awaits you” was heard and no matter how much he looked he couldn’t see anything that could’ve produced such a sound.

“A hero in life…a failure in death” echoed throughout the rocks.

Very interesting chapter. It added a nice twist to the plot and had a gastly feel to it. Good job, and I think I have just recieved inspiration for my next chapter. Not from your chapter that is, I was just letting you know that I had that click today and it has been flowing nicely. Good job once again.

I'm really glad you got inspiration, i just love it when it goes "click" in my mind;)
If anyone has heard of the group Z.R.E.O that remakes Zelda music...listen to their version of the Shadow temple as you read this chapter...that's what i did while writing it

Update...and to compensate the short chapter here's a much longer one:

Chapter: 26

It felt as if his heart could jump out of his mouth any second. His little experience with the dead was something one would never forget, it takes a lot to really scare him but this did achieve that. He was shaking and his legs felt like jelly…he slowly approached the temple with clumsy and uneasy steps, mustn’t give up now…don’t give in. As he reached the stairs leading up to the entrance he fell and hit his cheek hard.  He let out a sound of pain but remained quiet afterwards. He got back up and entered the temple.

The dark halls chilled him to his bones but he had to keep moving. As much as he disliked it many lives were depending on him and he couldn’t let them down. In front of the huge altar he placed the pendant in its hole. But there was another thing making him uneasy and somewhat enraged:
Ganondorf himself, the man who caused the war…the one who caused him so much suffering. Ales knew that he wouldn’t be able to control himself in his presence but he had to release him. The ground shook and a dark cloud appeared in front of him, it materialized into the figure of a man.
After a while Ganondorf the demon thief had been awakened from years of slumber.

He looked around him and seemed somewhat surprised about the whole thing, he then stared at Ales for a while and then grinned. Ales was furious as old memories came to him again, years ago in the war he had a little encounter with this evil man:

“Diggs flank ‘em from the right, I’ll go for a frontal assault” Ales yelled to his companion Diggs who was an old friend at the time. Diggs nodded and threw a Dekunut at the enemy army who were attacking them. He then cut several of them down with a sword and cleared a path for Ales. Ales wasted no time and attacked with everything he had as he crushed the skulls of numerous men. They were both alone in the wilderness and the entire situation wasn’t very bright. They continued plunging through the opposing soldiers until they all backed away for some reason. A black Gerudo stallion came up to them with an evil looking man on top of it.

“You fools cannot handle two pathetic rats like these?” He yelled. This man was no other than Ganondorf himself. Diggs had lost his family in the war and enraged he leapt at him in an attempt to put an end to his reign. Diggs was stabbed through the chest and Ganondorf simply chuckled as Diggs lifeless body fell to the ground.

“Diggs no” Ales yelled as the tears flowed from his eyes. He engaged Ganondorf in rage and gave him quite a resistance. This annoyed Ganondorf as he felt humiliated. While fighting Ales he nodded towards one of his men and Ales was struck down from behind.

“A warrior must always be on guard kid” Ganondorf said and smiled. Ales was beaten up by Ganondorf’s army and he could barely breathe. As he was lying on the cold and wet ground with his own blood everywhere Ganondorf grabbed his throat and took out his blade again.

“I’ll leave you here to die kid, but take this as a little souvenir” He said and slowly cut Ales’ left eye open, Ales screamed in agony and Ganondorf then took another quick slash at it. He was then knocked down to the ground and trampled by horses as they all took off laughing madly at the fallen boy.

“I remember your face” Ganondorf said as he stared at Ales in the temple. Ales himself did not move a muscle, trying to stay focused.

“I bet you came back for more didn’t you boy?” Ganondorf said and grinned, he unsheathed his sword and expected Ales to do the same. But Ales had no sword.
“No sword? Do you simply want a beating then?” Now Ganondorf was laughing and slowly approached Ales. He tried to remain calm and not let the rage get to him. He remembered Diggs’ face and all the trouble Ganondorf had caused. He was boiling and couldn’t help it anymore.

“I’ll ****ing kill you” He yelled and threw fire orbs at Ganondorf. He deflected them though and attacked Ales. One quick dodge from Ales and Ganondorf was left open and soon he found himself wrestled to the ground by Ales. He strangled him and smashed his face into the ground. He then picked him up and punched him over and over. Tears flowed from his eye but at the same time he enjoyed it. Ganondorf broke loose by kicking Ales between the legs. Ales let go of him but soon forgot the pain and picked up a rock. He ran towards Ganondorf and threw it.

Ganondorf cut the rock in two with his sword but was greeted with Ales’ fist in the stomach. Ganondorf was in pain but smashed his fist into the ground causing a minor earthquake that knocked Ales down. Ales was then hit with a light sphere from Ganondorf. As he tried getting up to dodge him he was simply hit with an armada of spheres. Ganondorf was now hovering around the room throwing spheres at him. Ales had to do something quick, as he was knocked down by another one he nearly collapsed. Something fell out of his backpack, it seemed useless though: an empty bottle.

But as he thought about it, glass reflects light and his spheres are pure light energy. It seemed like a stupid idea but he didn’t really have any choice but to try. Another sphere came towards him and he waved his bottle in front of it. To his own surprise it was knocked back at Ganondorf who was stunned by his own magic. Ales wasted no more time and created a wall of fire that burned Ganondorf to the ground. Ganondorf was unable to get up now and groaned in agony. Ales walked up to him and noticed a sledge hanging on the wall. He took it and grinned at Ganondorf.

“Here’s a little souvenir” he said and smashed the sledge into Ganondorf’s testicles. A scream could be heard all over Hrielia echoing throughout the cliffs. Ganondorf was knocked out cold and while he was Ales hanged him up to a wall. Ales was bleeding all over but this time…Ganondorf was bleeding more. As he woke up after a few hours he yelled at Ales to release him. Ales however was simply grinning at him. Afterwards he got serious though and explained the whole situation to Ganondorf, and Ganondorf didn’t dare to do other than listen. He was told about Link and how he wanted to take his Triforce of power. Neither of the two liked each other but they had to cooperate since greater things were at risk.

“Even if I help you cannot stop me from taking over Hyrule” Ganondorf said and grinned, Ales simply frowned at him but decided to make a deal with him:

“If you really help out and disappear from this land for decades, then I can allow you to return one day to make your attempt of ruling Hyrule…but I know that you will fail”

“How come?” Ganondorf asked.

“You are careless and you underestimate your opponents, which will lead to your downfall. The Triforce of power gives you unlimited life but if it sees you as a failure…it will abandon you”
Ganondorf frowned at Ales and tried to break loose but he was too tired and too much in pain after Ales’ “Souvenir”.

“If you’re going to infiltrate his army then I suggest you pick up that scroll over there” Ganondorf said and nodded towards a scroll lying on a pedestal. It seemed to be a scroll that disguised one into a Sheikah.

“The people that once lived in this temple often dressed up as Sheikahs. Use their old magic and infiltrate his army” Ganondorf sighed. Ales took the scroll and headed towards the temple entrance, he then turned around and said:

“I’ll leave you hanging here; one day you might have regained enough strength to break loose. But the day you die…I hope it will be slow and painful” he then exited the temple before Ganondorf could say anything. His story was over and everything had been explained. Zelda was amazed of his adventure. The only thing left now was Link…
