Chapter 17 introducing a new char =D

Chapter: 17

She had been there for 2 weeks without any hope of being saved. During these two weeks she had gone from princess to slave. She had been tortured, starved, hit on and abused in ways she did not want to think of. Everyday she dreamt of being rescued, everyday as the sun set she hoped to see the familiar silouette of Ales coming to save her. But no such thing ever happened. Zelda had given up hope for herself and the world. Link's plans on releasing Ganondorf and bringing him to ruin thus taking his piece were drawing near. The only thing stopping him now was the sages who held the seal inact. Link's story is a strange one: he travelled to the future and defeated Ganondorf the king of evil and then returned to the past however leaving the future to live on in an alternate reality.

Several sages he had to awaken were never needed to awake since the old ones remained. Ganondorf did start a war for Hyrule but lost it because of Link's alterning: a while after the war started he was trapped inside the temple of time for 7 years and the war lasted for for these years but right as Ganondorf would assume his throne Lik appeared out of nowhere and stopped him and the war once and for all.

Zelda sat in her room with the only food given to her: rats. She couldn't eat it at first but adapted to it eventually when trying to stay alive. Lately Zelda had been trying to end her suffering by hanging herself but whenever she did Link appeared as if from nowhere and told her how pathetic she looked and then released her and kept her alive. Her dreams were replaced by nightmares and she cried everyday allday long. After spending 14 days with Link she had stopped to make any form of resistance. She got up from her bed and checked to see if the door was open, if it was then she'd get breakfast and if it wasn't then she'd have to starve.

A smile crossed her lips when she noticed that it was unlocked and she entered the main hall. In the throne room Link was eating away on all kind's of dishes, Zelda really wanted to try it too but as usual Link pointed towards her usual food: rats. As she crawled on the ground to catch one to eat raw and alive he laughed at her for it amused him to no limits. After a while when Link had finished his breakfast he called his minions who really made a mess. Zelda was ordered to clean it all up. As she was cleaning she overheard them talking in the room next door. Link was worried about the sages and how to get past them and his minions did not have a plan either. Zelda chickled at them for she knew that even in these dark times Hyrule would live on if Link did not aquire the final piece.

”A princess cleaning up dishes like an ordinary peasant...how ironic” a quiet voice seemed to say from nowhere. Zelda looked around all over the room but found none, after looking around a bit she accidentally backed into someone. She was starteled and backed away and turned around. In front of her stood a shady character with a sheated katana and with sheikah clothes covering everything except a small hole for his right eye to peek out, it had the typical red sheikah color.

”Who are you?” Zelda still trying to catch her breath said. The Sheikah were shadow people who killed by stealth and always remained undetected unless they wanted your attention. They once served the royal family but were betrayed by the king in the great war almost making them extinct.

”I am Nakashi one of the few Sheikah there are left thanks to the royal family” He said. He was scary in a way since his face was covered she could not tell if he was angry or happy or any other face expressions.

”What do you want?” Zelda said while backing off some more, his red eye stared at her and didn't show any signs of moving. Link barged into the room and was just as starteled with Nakashi and drew his sword. Nakashi held his hand up telling Link to stop.

”That will not be nescesary” he said with a calm voice. Link hesitated but finally sheated his sword and approached the Sheikah.

”What buisness does a Sheikah have with me?” Link asked a bit angered. Nakashi now stared at him and slowly approached Link.

”I have come to join you, to help you with destroying Hyrule. There is nothing left for me or my people in this world” Nakashi said with the same calm voice. He then proceeded in picking something up from within his clothes: it was a pendant which had all of the sages symbols on it.
Link was utterly shocked and quickly took it from Nakashi's hands.

”T-the sage pendant, the one key except the mastersword to the chamber of the sages where i could proceed into killing all sages and releasing Ganondorf.” he said.
Nakashi nodded quietly and proceeded into the other room where the other minions were. Link gazed at the pendant as if it was worth more than his life and Zelda watched in horror as she knew that Hyrule was in grave danger now.
”You're lucky i'm in such a good mood right now Zelda, you may go” Link finally said and Zelda left heading for her room. She laid down on her bed and cried. Link would need to prepare more than ever now since this would be his greatest battle yet. And Zelda was right, it would take 2 more days before they set off.

She spent the rest of the day in her room not even eating, why would she? There was no hope for her or Hyrule anymore anyway. She'd end up dead in a few days. As the sun set like usual she tried to sleep. In the dream she was standing on Hyrule field and in front of her was the triforce, everything was peaceful but she knew that something bad would happen. Dark clouds appeared and it started raining and Link appeared holding the entire triforce bringing chaos all over the land, fires were everywhere and people died. Zelda ran up to him trying to stop him but he drew his sword and was about to cut her open when a shining bright light intervened. Link was  thrown away by the force and the light turned into one she had not seen in a long time: Ales. He smiled at her and as the hill shook and an earthquake occurred he grabbed her and leaped away with a massive jump. After she had been taken to safety he put her down. Zelda didn't let go though.

”Where have you been? I thought you died” she said with tears in her eyes. Ales remained quiet and simply smiled at her. He then took out a shiny stone from his pocket.

”Always carry this stone with you, it shall protect you in times of danger...now you must awaken my dear princess” He said and slowly faded away along with the world around her.

”Ales no don't leave me again” she screamt but it was too late. She awoke in her bed with sweat on her forehead. She felt something in her hand and as she opened it she saw the same stone that Ales gave to her in the dream. She pocketed it and smiled to herself.

”Shouldn't a princess be sleeping at this hour?” a voice said from the darkness. Zelda looked around her and suddenly Nakashi stepped out from a shadow. His one eye was staring at her again and he breathed heavily.

”I don't care who you are, get out” she yelled. Nakashi chuckled and approached her quietly.

”In due time Zelda, in due time but first i want to ask you something” Zelda was perplexed but decided to answer whatever his question was. Nakashi carried on:

”The man in your dream...Ales is his name right?” Zelda gasped but finally nodded, how could Nakashi see her dreams? Nakashi nodded quietly and continued:

”He gave you something right? A shiny gem that's said to protect it's bearer from danger...did it appear in your hand afterwards?” Zelda remained quiet about this but she was a bad liar and her face gave her away. Nakashi chuckled and drew his katana and swung it at her only to be blocked by a barrier of light. He sheated his blade once again and said:

”So... it does protect you, that means...” Nakashi stopped in the middle of his sentence and opened the door to leading to the main hall. He turned around and looked at her.

”I wish you a goodnight princess” he said, his voice was emotionless so she could not tell if he meant it or not. But after the door closing she was terrified yet happy at the same time. Somehow Ales had given her hope once again.

Two days later the dark triangle’s army was ready to go and Zelda had to follow them to wherever they were heading. Nakashi was there too but was as quiet as always.
To Zelda's surprise Nalé met up with them after a while, Link didn't seem to expect that and asked why, Nalé smiled and answered:

”I'm not gonna miss this for anything in the world...”

It's great to hear that you're enjoying this story as much as i enjoy writing it:)
Now if this story goes as i've planned (which it almost never does) there'll be a a couple of chapters before the end.

I am also considering on writing a prequel to this story about Ales' past once i'm done with this one. But that's still...well how to say...in the really early betas >.>

I'm looking forward to seeing that, Ales! I have to admit it's a great story so far. And I give you extra credit for the visual aspect of your fanfic too, by which I mean you drawings of Ales himself. You give us both a hero and his story. Very dignified fanfic

Oh, I'm sorry, yes I know Marrie22's drawings, I just meant to say that it's great to have this actual "existing" character as the main protagonist, since we also have a good idea of what he looks like from these drawings

To disambiguate: you did a great job, both of you

Chapter 18 is done. It even holds a boss fight(kinda)

Chapter: 18

It was a cold night and she was shivering, a lot of the minions seemed to be cold too. Even Link was shivering but Nakashi just sat there gazing at the sky and didn’t seem to be bothered by the cold. She didn’t know why but he didn’t seem to be as evil as the rest of them. His red eye always stared, never a single blink. When he stared at you it felt as if he gazed into your mind. It was getting colder and the horses they had brought with them grew anxious and started moving and jumping not listening to their masters and eventually running away.

She knew that something was wrong…but what? A long pale and cold hand suddenly appeared from the ground and grabbed a Moblin, everyone jumped up on their legs and drew their weapons. The ground shook and a pale and foul smelling creature popped up from the ground and in a sick and twisted way it moved towards its victim and plunged its massive teeth into the Moblins skull, brain substance mixed with blood could be seen as the creature feasted on the poor Moblins head.

“Dead hand!! Stay away from the hands!” Link yelled as more and more hands popped up and more and more Dead hands feasted on the poor souls that were Link’s army. Panic was in the air and no one could really focus. Zelda ran around like a confused animal and screamed for help when another hand suddenly popped up and grabbed her. Another Dead hand appeared and moved towards her. She screamed and tried to break free but it was impossible.

The foul creature lowered its head and its empty eye sockets stared at her very soul, it opened its huge and wide mouth and prepared itself for a snack. All it got was a blade that cut through its throat. Nakashi grabbed her arm however unluckily it was her broken arm and Zelda screamed in pain. Nakashi stopped and stared at her with the red eye again, then he grabbed her other arm instead and kept running dodging and jumping between the hands. After a while of jumping and dodging they were on a hill. Nakashi let go of her and said:

“The gem you have can only protect you against the living and not the undead, I’m sorry about your broken arm, stay here I will deal with the monsters” and so he rushed off and killed several of the monsters and cutting through the hands. Many men of Link’s army were lost in the battle but the Dead hands had been pushed back. They all sat down being exhausted except Nakashi; he still stood up and scanned the area.

“You were a great help back there Nakashi, take a seat you must be exhausted too” Link said with a relieved smile.
Nakashi shook his head and still held his Katana ready.

“It’s not over yet, they’re planning something…” He said. Link went pale and started looking over his shoulder. He gathered his troops and told Nakashi to keep moving. As they pushed on a bit Nalé turned to Nakashi and patted him on the shoulder.

“Thanks to you we made it, by the way Nakashi how come your face is always hidden?” Nalé said.
Nakashi turned to Nalé and stared at him the red eye; he examined him from head to toe and then finally said:

“It belongs to the traditions of the Sheikah that males of the tribe must keep his face hidden during his entire life, he may only be unmasked upon his death” Nalé nodded and took out a bottle with milk and drank. Nakashi stared at him as he did it and after that Nalé was finished he continued:

“You suffer from guilt don’t you? Ah yes you murdered someone…someone you had always known” Nalé started sweating and gave him an angered look.

“You showed Link where you were through a communication gem, you made the yetis kidnap Zelda, you made that cave collapse thus betraying the yetis…and Ales” Nakashi said still staring at Nalé. Nalé drew his blade and threatened Nakashi with it.

“If you don’t shut the **** up I’ll cut you in half you damn Sheikah” Nalé yelled at Nakashi.
Nakashi started laughing and walked away. It was getting colder and a fog started looming around them. Their goal was an ancient temple in the depths of a long forgotten part of Hyrule that none dared to speak of, but they had to move through it to get to the ancient portal where they could release Ganondorf and take his piece. That pendant was the key. As they moved through the fog the ground suddenly shook and a huge hand popped up and grabbed Zelda. Afterwards the biggest Dead hand they’d ever laid their eyes on towered above them. It had a lot of arms attached to it and it smelled just as foul.

Link commanded everyone to run and run they did leaving Zelda behind screaming and kicking. The giant monster stared at her and laughed. It breathed at her and she almost suffocated from the smell.

“Let her go!” someone screamed and the giant monster looked down. Nakashi once again with his Katana ready was ready to save her. The monster laughed once again and threw her off a cliff. Nakashi and ran towards the cliff and jumped in an attempt to catch her. He could see her falling and he tried to build up speed and fall faster, the dead hand used its hands to hinder him though as its hands kept popping up from the cliff side. Nakashi used his Katana to cut through the hands as they came.

He finally managed to grab a hold of Zelda, he then somersaulted and landed on a hand with his feet using it as a trampoline flying up to another hand and leaping from that one and so on. After a while of jumping he was standing before the giant being with Zelda in his arms. He put her down and cut his way through the many hands attempting to grab him and used the hands attached to the monster to climb to it’s very top and then started cutting its head open. The monster roared and 5 of its hand grabbed him and squeezed causing severe pain to Nakashi, Nakashi cut himself loose and fell down on the ground with a thud.

The monster moved towards him slowly and as he got up the hands grabbed his Katana and threw it away. The hands then grabbed him and smacked him like a fly, tossing him around and smashing him into the cliff sides. Nakashi didn’t seem to move and yet it kept smashing him into the walls and the ground as if he was a mere glove. It finally let go of him and it watched as Nakashi fell to the ground not moving a muscle. The giant monster used one of its hands to grab a huge rock, ready to finish Nakashi off.

“Nakashi move!” Zelda yelled as the rock came closer. As the rock was about to crush Nakashi once and for all he suddenly raised his arm and stopped it with just one arm. He then crushed it with his other fist and got up on his legs. Dodging the hands he grabbed his Katana and jumped over a hand that swept across the ground, in the air he somersaulted and with one swipe the entire monster’s stomach was cut open and its organs flooded out, there was so much gore that one could drown in it. Nakashi ran over to Zelda and grabbed her and jumped between some rocks and finally escaped. The sound of the humongous Dead hand crashing into the ground could be heard all over the mountain.

Yes a mountain they climbed, with a dark and vile fog. Nakashi put Zelda down and then fell to his knees with heavy breathing, blood was all over him and many parts of his Sheikah clothes had been ripped off. He finally passed out, Zelda rushed to his side and grabbed him in an attempt to carry him but it wasn’t possible. She wasn’t strong enough to carry him.

“Nakashi wake up!” she screamed but he didn’t. She could tell that he was alive since he was still breathing. After a while he got up by himself and took out a bottle with some red drink inside of it, he removed the part of his Sheikah suit that covered his mouth and drank. After a while all of his blood disappeared and he seemed to feel fine again.

“Red potion, never leave home without it” he said and put his bottle back inside his suit. He then took Zelda’s arm and started walking in an attempt of catching up with the others. After a bit of walking they found Link’s army outside a huge building. Link was utterly shocked as he spotted Nakashi and Zelda. Nakashi was once again as quiet as always, Zelda turned to him with a confused look and said:

“I owe you my life twice, but why did you go out of your way so much to save me?” Nakashi looked at her and then looked away and didn’t answer the question. Link ran towards them still with a shocked look on his face and said.

“I don’t know how you defeated that creature but you did it, and with great timing: the portal has been opened with the pendant and we are ready to release Ganondorf….”

I'm looking forwards to reading your fic ZeldaMaster.
Here's chapter 19 btw

Chapter: 19

The dark temple had an atmosphere like nothing they’ve ever felt before; while it was much warmer inside the temple something still chilled them to their bones. They were walking in an old empty corridor, the air felt thick and it was hard to breathe and as they kept going they reached a chamber of some sort, it was as if this chamber had been sealed off for thousands of years even though it wasn’t sealed of at all. The smell was like a museum but much older and foul smelling. Link was nervous, after all Ganondorf was a foe he had always hated yet feared. A couple of stairs with evil looking statues that resembled demons sitting alongside them were leading up to an altar.

This Altar held a hole where something round seemed to fit. Link approached it slowly as everyone watched him with the same fear in their hearts. Something just felt very wrong about it. Link took out the round pendant Nakashi had given him and placed it in its hold. For a while they all stood still hardly breathing, waiting…but nothing happened. Link now knew what felt so wrong and he turned around looking everywhere around the room. His eyes stayed on Nakashi; he was the one who gave him the pendant.

“Nakashi what is this? Explain yourself this instant!” he yelled. Nakashi stared at him and remained silent. He then unsheathed his Katana and pointed it towards Link who was enraged and reached for the dark blade in his sword sheath…but it was no longer there. Even the Mizka which he kept to show his triumph was gone. He felt his heart drop to his stomach as a voice was heard from a dark corner:

“Excellent work you did manage to lure him here after all” the voice said. Link along with everyone else turned around to the corner where the voice came from. A dark figure holding both the dark blade and the Mizka showed itself. It was a tall man with a black armor with a black cape and hair as red as the fires of hell. It was none other than the dark lord himself: Ganondorf.

“No...no this can’t be...who released you?” Link said with fear in his eyes. Ganondorf smirked and threw the dark blade away at Nakashi who simply let it lay next to his feet.

“A week ago I was released by a young warrior who opposed my power. I was enraged and we fought for what seemed like an eternity, at the end of it his hands were covered in my blood and I laid before his feet at his mercy, this warrior didn’t even use a sword but instead he cast powerful magic. I prepared myself for my long awaited death when he spared me and told me about you and how you ended up” Ganondorf explained.

Link’s fear was slowly starting to fade away and was replaced by a greater anger. Ganondorf smirked and walked towards Link slowly.

“After hearing of your plans I decided to obey this warrior for my own safety and the land I wish to rule…not destroy. But I find it ironic that my divine father chose to live on in such a way. He was mad but a genius who managed to fool even the goddesses by putting his essence in the Triforce of courage thus corrupting you slowly” Ganondorf laughed in the same insane way that he used to.

Link jumped at Ganondorf but was knocked away by a barrier that protected him. The barrier was not a creation of Ganondorf though.

Nakashi closed his eye and when it opened it was no longer red but blue, he took off his hood and ripped the entire Sheikah outfit off, Ganondorf threw the Mizka at him and he grabbed it. In the middle of them he stood in all of his pride: Ales had arisen from the ashes. He lifted his fingers and dispelled the barrier around Ganondorf.
He stared at Link and said:

“It ends now” and after that he charged Link who managed to get out of his way, Link ordered his minions to attack but they were slaughtered with ease from Ales’ side. Ales charged his sword and it caught fire, Link grabbed the dark blade and leapt at him.

“Phoenix fire” Ales yelled and a huge wall of fire was summoned sending Link flying several meters. Ales created an orb of fire in his hand and threw it at Link who knocked it back with his sword. Ales dodged it and somersaulted through air and landed behind Link who received several cuts in his back. Link finally blocked and charged his blade with dark power and shot three huge dark orbs at Ales. Standing still he stared at them and then the ground shook and fire engulfed him.

“Phoenix rage” he yelled and the fire around him formed the shape of a phoenix. With blinding speed Ales flew through the air and threw several fire orbs at Link, the dark orbs Link had summoned hit Ales but he didn’t even seem to notice them. The Mizka clashed with the dark blade and the intense heat from Ales burned Link, even his sword got so heated that he was forced to drop it. While exposed Ales landed several powerful blows on Link and then grabbed his neck. Ales’ hand was covered in fire shaped as talons and Link screamed in pain as he was burned all over again. Ales hit him several times until Link’s nose was broken along with several of his teeth. He was the thrown up in the air only to receive multiple blows from Ales sword and fists. Time after time Link was smashed against the ceiling of the temple until the force was so great that he flew through it and out in the open.

Ales flew up after him and charged a huge fire orb in his hand and combined it with his sword that now glowed of power and fire. Link was struck with the extreme power and fell down to the ground in a loud crash. Ales landed next to the bloody body that belonged to Link. Link’s skin was burnt and most of his bones were mangled. He didn’t even know himself why he still breathed air.

“The Triforce of courage is under the influence of Hesernagoth and he will not let you die so easily” Ales said. The fire around him disappeared and the Mizka returned to normal. Ales picked Link up and held his face close to his.

“I expect more from you next time…fellow knight” he said and then dropped him, leaving him there to die just like he was once left by Link to die. Ganondorf came outside and stared at Link, he spat on him and then turned to Ales

“I will keep my promise and stay in the desert for many years, but one day I will return Ales and I will conquer Hyrule” Ales looked at him and then smiled sarcastically.

“No you won’t…there will be another one awaiting you by that time” he said. Ganondorf nodded and disappeared in a dark cloud. Zelda came running and hugged him with tears in her eyes.

“I thought you died, where have you been and why didn’t you tell me when we was alone?” she said with the tears still flowing. Ales hugged her back and said:

“I will explain soon but first…” Ales spotted Nalé trying to sneak past them and get away. Ales took out his bow and landed an arrow in his back. Nalé fell to the ground and whimpered. As Ales approached him he begged for his life but Ales didn’t respond but grabbed Nalé around his throat and dragged him towards a pit which was so pitch black that you couldn’t see what was down there.

“Don’t worry Nalé I won’t kill you” Ales said with a calm voice. Nalé stared at him and smiled with a scared look in his eyes.
“Y-you won’t?” he asked carefully now with hope in his face. Ales shook his head and threw a fire orb down the dark hole lighting up the area. Inside at the bottom there were hundreds of redeads each one moaning as they hungered.

“They will” Ales said and smiled at Nalé. Nalé was thrown down the hole, screaming for his life as he was ripped apart by the undead. Ales returned to Zelda.

“When you dressed up like a Sheikah you said that if that gem protected me it meant something…even though that gem was never really needed” she said.

Ales looked away for a while and then looked at her eyes again.

“The gem has protected you against Link; as long as you held it he could never approach you and hurt you. And as for what it meant…if the one who holds the gem is truly… you know… never mind, it doesn’t matter” Ales said and smiled. Zelda nodded and looked over at where Link was...or was supposed to be. Link’s body was no longer there. Ales saw it too but wasn’t surprised.

“He and I will do battle again and I shall free his soul from Hesernagoth’s grip” he said and then turned to Zelda and continued:

“Now let me explain from the beginning how I survived and what I’ve been doing all of this time…”

Chapter 20 is done by the way

Chapter: 20

The cave was crumbling and the cave was blocked. He couldn’t seem to find any way out either. As the ceiling collapsed and fell towards him he simply closed his eye and awaited his death. Seconds passed but it felt like an eternity. He stood there with a closed eye waiting for the crash and the cracking sound of his bones as he was mashed. Still nothing happened. He opened his eye and was standing before a tree in a meadow. This was a tree he recognized…in his younger days he’d often come there and talk with his old friend Mikaru the hylian knight.

“Welcome my dear friend” a familiar and gentle voice said behind him. He turned around and couldn’t believe what he saw: a man with a knight’s armor however with no helmet, he held a sword in his left hand and smiled at him. It was none other than Mikaru his old friend. He smiled and ran towards him; how he had missed him in many times of peril in his life. And now it was all there again in front of that old tree.

“It was such a long time ago” Ales yelled out of sheer happiness. As he ran towards Mikaru he noticed that he fell through him. He quickly got up and looked at Mikaru with a surprised look.

“I am sorry Ales but I’m afraid that I’m no longer of this world. I was killed during the assault on the temple of time, you were there too but you couldn’t have noticed my body in the heat of the battle” Ales’ heart sank to the bottom as he heard this. His old mentor and stepfather was now dead and he was truly alone.

“I know how you feel but you mustn’t think of the sorrow, not now. I used all of my might to pull you out of there however unfortunately only you and not the Mizka was teleported. I now know your destiny Ales, it was as I said so many years ago: you’re destined for great things”
Ales looked at the tree and didn’t say a word; whether he wanted it or not sorrow engulfed his soul, The sorrow turned to rage and the rage turned into something that was similar to insanity. He started screaming and fell the tree with his bare fists and then burned down many other parts of the forest. In the middle of it he noticed that he wanted to destroy villages and destroy as much as possible. He felt a sword hilt on his head and he fell to his knees. The insanity now turned back to sorrow and he cried for the first time in years. He had let out a tear before but never really cried out loud as he did now.

“I’m sorry Ales but you have to stop this. There are important matters at hand” Mikaru said although his face was filled with sorrow as well. Ales now stood up and faced Mikaru, Ales’ eye was red after all the crying but he just stood there quiet.

“We haven’t talked since you left us to find your purpose in life as you said, but you became a mere bounty hunter, your purpose was in front of you the whole time and yet you fled from it. Two of the knight’s bloodlines are now gone and only the hero’s and yours exists. And you are both on the verge of extinction. You were destined to be a hylian knight since the day you were born and yet you neglected me” Mikaru said and seemed annoyed.

“My life has no purpose and it never had, I only exist because of Hesernagoth’s curse and as a last minute aid, I’ll never be able to reach the level of Sela again nor a hylian knight” Ales said and walked past Mikaru to find a way out of the forest. As he walked a sword appeared in his hand and Mikaru appeared before him. Being startled he didn’t say a word but simply stared at Mikaru who made a gesture telling Ales to fight him. Ales was getting annoyed with him even though there was still sorrow in his heart for the loss of his mentor.

Ales leapt at him to strike but missed due to Mikaru’s speed causing him to strike thin air. A sword hilt in the back and Ales was getting even more annoyed. He kept attacking and striking but he could never hit him. After a while he was enraged and waved his sword around randomly but always hit thin air. Another sword hilt was landed on him and he fell to the ground.

“When you can beat me…then you may leave, do you understand Ales?” Mikaru said with a serious look on his face. Ales got back up and nodded while still being a bit annoyed after the fight. They both agreed to stay and fight until Ales had unlocked his powers as Sela again. All of this sparked a memory in Ales’ head:

He was a healthy teenager who had a rough background with the loss of his parents. He barely remembered them though. Apparently according to the man who saved him and raised him “Mikaru” the murderers were the only few survivors of the fallen and they were aiming at killing Ales as they knew his destiny. But Mikaru who knew Ales’ father well rushed in and saved him. Ales lived with Mikaru among other soldiers and knights in a camp that was always on the move. At this time a war against the king of evil raged across Hyrule. Ales was too young to fight in the war but he didn’t really want to.

He did care about sword training though and Mikaru often sparred with him. As he tried to sleep the screams of the many men who fell along with the thunder and rain was his lullaby. The fear of maybe having to see someone he cared for lying dead somewhere or maybe just their empty bed. In this war Ales lost almost everything during this war, and his personality changed dramatically as he some years later would fight in the war himself. The evil air coming from the evil king’s castle caused many people to die. It was soon dubbed “The disease of darkness” as there was no cure and always ended in death,

Ales at the age of 16 also caught this disease and grew weaker as the days passed. Mikaru’s heart was filled with sorrow at this period since Ales had been like a son to him. Then as Mikaru sat there at Ales’ bed he knew that soon it was time for Ales’ to go. And as Ales’ drew his last breath and his heart stopped beating he was all alone with him in his tent. What happened afterwards was something he didn’t understand: a fire was started outside in the shape of a huge phoenix. The phoenix smiled at Mikaru and then flew inside the temple. Mikaru was terrified of the creature and the tent catching fire and rushed inside. All he found was Ales sitting up in his bed and completely healthy.

As Ales turned 17 he was considered an adult and was forced to fight in the war. This experience did not only cost him almost everyone he cared for but also his eye and his happiness. After the war had ended Ales and Mikaru were still both alive and Mikaru prepared himself to train Ales into a hylian knight. But the war had changed him: he was no longer cheerful and hatred glowed in his eyes. He neglected Mikaru and disappeared. He became a bounty hunter and the rest is history.

He found himself on the ground again since his thoughts had wandered off to these past memories. Mikaru laughed and told him to try again. Ales got up and this time he was determined: he would no longer flee the past but face it, and so he charged at Mikaru and prepared himself to finally complete his long awaited training…
