While clearly just a dumb heated argument by a high school teacher, people say stupid things when things get heated, who knew, I would point out that she was right there is no comparison. Obama pushed a girl as a kid after the girl said he was her boyfriend, literally what every kid since the beginning of time has done. Romney cut off a gay kids hair , he took part in an assault, with a possible homophobic bent, at the age of 18, when he was a legal adult. There really is no comparison to be made, Romney did something truly awful and going "obama was naughty when was a child" is the most awful excuse of deflection I've ever seen. Theres definite debate to be had over whether the actions of an 18 year old are important when the person is now in middle age (I'd argue that usually this is not the case, it depends if theres a link with current attitudes),as there was a possible homophobic bent and definitely a "prim and proper" socially conservative bent to what was an assault, there is a good reason to think it has some basis for judging his character. But theres no debate to be had over whether a child being disgusted over cooties has any relevance, it simply doesn't, it's grasping at straws. But yeah, post more sensationalist stuff that appears on fox nation. Fair and balanced!

http://abcnews.go.com/US/rutgers-trial-dharun-ravi-sentenced-30-days-jail/story?id=16394014#.T7qIZsWwWG8Reasonable, he's not fully responsible for his roommates suicide, obviously he can't be, a large factor of that is a large element of homophobia in our society, but he was a trigger, he shouldn't be hounded or vilified, but this is fair, and I hope he learns from it, and I hope he regrets it, and I hope he's forgiven, and I hope one day he forgives himself, but most of all, that some good comes from it. Lest we forget, this was a hate crime, a hate crime through misjudgement of actions, and not pure malice but a hate crime none the less.

Romney and Obama So one's sexist, the other's homophobic. No but seriously, it's not grasping at straws to say that both parties did something stupid when they were stupid kids (and there's certainly no basis in saying their current occupation is somehow relevant), it's just calling out an obnoxiously biased braying jackass of a teacher who doesn't know what she's talking about. It doesn't matter whether or not the kid had the best possible response, and no one here is saying he did, but the fact is someone needed to say something. If you're teaching kids, it's not your job to be an activist in the classroom, and if you are, and someone calls you out on it without being rude (and this kid didn't start smarting off until the teacher went apeshit on him), it's not your job to try to stifle a harmless exchange of ideas. Frankly I'm surprised you'd be okay with such a thing. As for that "Obama Flip Flops" thing, was that from an opinion peice or not? The image is too cropped for me to tell. As for your second post about that Ravi guy, like you I have no idea whether or not he shows remorse, and judging by news articles on CNN, neither does anyone else. While it's true that he didn't force the poor kid to kill himself, what he did was still unbelievably messed up, and like you I hope he both genuinelly seeks and finds redemption.

Romney was 18, don't know where you're from but an 18 year old is not a child, and cutting someones hair off in a possible homophobic assault (assault none the less) is actually a crime.
A literal child obama pushing a girl over because he's a literal child, is a child acting like a child, it was hardly bullying.
How much bearing they have is neither here nor there, but they are not comparable.
To compare the 2 is ridiculously insulting to homosexuals who would (with reasonable) see what romney did as a hate crime and even I would assume (as I was amongst them) victims of bullying in school, as seriously, I can't name any kid in the world who hasn't pushed another kid at some point.
I can name a fucking ton of people who have never assaulted anyone.
Also to argue that a childs actions were sexist based on an "oooh icky girls" thing is ridiculous, kids act like kids, they're literally not capable of such extremes of thought.
Real example right here, told a 5 year old family member about gay and trans people, their response was "well that makes sense", kids minds are ridiculously open to ideas well into teen years and very mouldable a 5-10 year old will literally absorb everything authority (and therefore by extension patriarchy) produces, which includes the "eww girls gross" stuff, but it doesn't extend to sexism/misogyny because theres no real understanding of it, no self justifications being made in the mind.
Children literally don't have the faculties to perform such complex thoughts, they're sponges, sponges for negative and positive information, their reasoning isn't developed, if you can't justify (even incorrectly, as is obvious) sexist beliefs or actions, they're hardly able to be considerred misogynist on the same level as an adult.
Basically, child obama, a fucking child. 18 year old romney, a full grown man who should have known better, and his actions would have and should have been more harshly condemned than the actions of a child.
If you think they're comparable, your entire metric is off.

Off topic, because this is gonna go round in circles as NH's and I's arguments often do, until one of us storms off or we realise we're both insufferable.
Who enjoys contact with other Human beings, I enjoy contact with other humans, is this normal?
I'm not sure.

I think my logic broke him.
Also they're comparable in that their actions as kids have the same level of relevance to whether or not they're good politicians.

I guess I'll throw in my two cents. Obama pushing a girl as a kid is stupid, and should not be brought up in a political debate it's a show of how petty politics is becoming. Romney supposedly cutting a gay kids hair off at 18 while is a crime and he is an adult still is stupid and should not be brought up in political arguments. Yes legally at 18 you're an adult, but as most of you know you are not an adult.
I am 25 and I act a totally different way now than I did at 18. In my opinion both subjects are irrelevant to the real issues. I do not care about their social policies, I care about their economic policies I want them to get us out of our financial crisis first then fix the social issues. But it seems all people ever focus on is social issues the thing that no political leader could possibly please everyone with. People need to care about the important things, which in my opinion is getting everyone a job, roof over their head, clothes on their back, and food in their belly. Notice a said job, because I am tired of the government handing the other stuff out to people for not doing shit.
