Yes there are:
Sony will never release another Playstation again.
That would be the best news ever. Back to the subject: Sony should have done this way sooner but they didn't. Suggestions:
Cut out Blu-Ray its crap I'm not paying that much for DvD on steroids.
Don't ever underestimate your competition again.
Call back all PS3's and make a PS4 htat costs about $300+ less.
Meh I'm done I knew Sony was screwing up when I saw the price of a PS3 not enough of the community is that rich. Well my rant is done.
P.S.
Better words:
From the mouth of the Head of Sony "That was a God damned mistake launching the PS3."

"Cake or Death!!!"

XD just joking around. [ Eddy Izzard is <3 ]

Though the PS3 sales COULD possibly turn around in a year or so, I think Sony's biggest flaw is the introduction of two new, expensive products at the same time.  Of couse, I mean the ps3 itself, and the blu-ray format.  Because now they're too dependent on each other - if the ps3 flops, people will consider the blu-ray format a failure.  If blu-ray sales aren't so hot, then people will be even less inclined to buy a ps3.  Whereas Microsoft and Nintendo only need to focus on marketing and selling one product - the Wii and the 360 - Ps3 has to sell two things at once.  And that's where they've really screwed themselves over.  (I'm talking in terms of the console gaming department only, of course.)

For anyone who's seen the thread about the guy who submitted porn instead of an assignment, just add the words "Oh snap" at the beginning and it works even better

The other problem is that you can't take away the Blue-Ray Player in the PS3 because the games Media Format is for that. One thing that is to be said is that when the Big Games comes out, I don't think it will matter... sure I can see the Playstation 3 sales pick up, but not by much. When Resident Evil 4 was released on the Gamecube, people were picking up the system and the game fast (first time I ever saw the Gamecube going that fast) however, you have to remember that the Gamecube was only 99 dollars at that time, I don't see people picking up a $600 system like that. I like Final Fantasy as the next guy and would love playing XIII... but $600 is still $600. It's not worth 1 game... maybe if the system had more then 3 good games on it that will sell a few systems would make me think about buying it. While I'll get alot more for a 360... but for me that's even too much. So I'll just wait for my birthday for a 360.

Well, Europe officially got the bum end of the pricing deal. For now...

Australia's launch has been revealed. AUS $999.95... 5 cents short of a meaty grand, but still around US$ 775ish. I have never been so excited about a non-Nintendo system launch before. I really cant wait to see this one go to pieces...

Oh yes, in that respect I want to see it launch.... and fail to. How I'd love to see Sony go down... All of Sony. *dreaming aloud*

PS: I don't suppose PS-bashing is off-topic as the title for your thread IS undeniably sarcastic...

I was wondering about the Mexican deal. Didn't know one had been made. Damn, that sucks big time.

Doesn't make the EU price look much better though. Just less nasty.

I'm looking forward to the launch. I'm guessing it'll go pretty smooth because like I said, there are a lot of Sony lovers and most people use the name PlayStation as a synonym for gaming already over here.

It's going to be a though ride for Sony. Same goes for Nintendo for that matter.

Dear Loyal Sony Fanbase

How you guys doing? Still digging deep down your sofa to find the loose change for a PS3? Faaaaantastic. Well, we are well aware of your desperate urge to throw money away like it's going out of fashion, so here's some fantastic news!

Clicky clicky!

Love, Sony UK

That's right, if you want a PS3, all you need to do is pre-order with a PSP. Even if you've got one already! £674.99 for a PS3 AND a useless chunk of handheld plastic you say? Sign me up!

I've dug deep and apparently the PSP deal doesn't even guarantee you a PS3. It' just gives you "priority" over all the other shmucks. And if you don't get a PS3... Sorry, you're stuck with the PSP. Enjoy...

Ahh, Mexico. Good to see you. What's that? You want to point and laugh at the UK for getting screwed harder than even you thought possible? Oh you silly immigrant bastard you...

(NOTE: I know this is marked up as HMV's idea, but if Sony have no input on these things whatsoever then may the Oocca of my avatar gang rape me while I sleep)

Oh Sony... Not only do we have a slightly crap price tag, but now you're screwing us over with backwards compatibility?

So cries the European Sony fanboys as they read THIS report from Kotaku...

Hoping to sell your PS2 for a little extra cash one you'd emptied your bank account? Think again by the sounds of it...

There are some doubts about the credibility of the report, so Sony may not be the Satanic money grabbing bastards we (ok, I) assume they are. But boy are their PR bods gonna have a job recovering from this one if it's true. EDIT: Might be the real thing. Press release from SCEE added. Follow the link already!

Might wanna check this out, ZA

Although I did rant a little following Sony's attempts to silence Kotaku regarding the PlaystationMiiArcade, what you'll be interested in is this:
Back to the BC issue, and good news from Sony? I wasn't prepared for this one...

Sony have gone back on their cry of "limited PS2 backwards compatibility", and Sir Phil of Harrison has provided the figure of 1000 fully playable titles come European launch day.

The Guardian writer has it summed up quite nicely though, by saying"It feels like a number plucked out of the air - though of course Phil Harrison will have solid data to back it up."

Why does it sound like he plucked it outta the air?
1- "We expect the list to encompass over 1000 titles..." The man still has his PR hat on. Expect, estimate, imagine: All fantastic words to stick in a sentence when you ain't quite sure.
2- Why was this number not in their previous statement. All they said was limited BC. Now we have 50%?
3- Have they honestly tested 1,000 games...?

Also of note, 1,000 games is only 50% of the PS2 back catalogue, and there's no guarantee all of these titles will be the top notch ones you expect. Let's not forget the X Box 360/ Barbie Horse Adventures saga...

Little over one week til the launch and the BC news isn't sounding so good...

According to The Inquirer when a German site called Cynamite tried the top 12 PS2 games in their PS3, only one worked...

Here's the list of games they tried:

# God of War
# MGS 2: Sons of Liberty
# MGS 3: Snake Eater
# Shadow of the Colossus
# Guitar Hero 2
# Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones
# Okami
# GTA: Liberty City Stories
# Eragon
# Final Fantasy X-2
# Ratchet & Clank 3
# Lumines Plus

Can you guess which one worked? If you said God of War because it was an in-house production, you're wrong!

Horrifyingly, it was only Eragon which worked. Everything else was spat back in disgust.

In theory this should all be easily remedied with a firmware update...

Side note: Pre-orders for the PS3 are still on offer in Sunderland...

EDIT: More official news to confirm that the situation in Sunderland is much the same across the UK and Europe. GAME has only filled 2/3s of its pre-orders, and that doesn't look like it will change before launch day. Full story here

Well, I went wandering around Newcastle today. Like Sunderland, only much more well known and with a marginally better football team.

Couldn't help but laugh when I saw this one (as well as a dozen or so other shops, still happily offering PS3 pre-orders)...

Sony are going to have an uphill struggle conquering Europe methinks. If they thought it was going to be their territory of glory... They might wanna think again.

I was in Lakeside today the second biggest shopping centre in the UK next to bluewater, and I walked past Both Games, there was a poster for it, and a couple of boxes, but they didn't really seem to be getting ready for it in the same enthusiasm as they did with wii at christmas.
God wii at christmas they had movies playing non-stop about wii.
Also sony doesn't seem to be doing much in the way of displays, nintendo came to bluewater and lakeside several times and had wii kiosks set up, Sony has just dropped some empty boxes off and left all the rest to the shops themselves.
