Yep ive been watching it as well but for different reasons...I want an NES and ZM is currently looking for a 360 to call his own. I have friends here in the states who got screwed over by selling PS3's on eBay, forged checks, etc. They also bought one that ended up being an empty box....some people really are dumbasses

Can someone please tell me how the Hell this is possible?

PS3 breaks UK sales records? It can't just be blind Nintendo fanboyism that is making me doubt these numbers surely. I went into four shops today to check the situation. Both GAMEs were home to "around 20-30" systems, HMV said they had "enough to last a while" but wouldn't offer numbers and when I punched the catalogue number in at Argos I was informed of 42 in stock.

If these sales figures are true (which is still leaving me asking "How the hell?") the best I can see this being for Sony is everyone who wants a PS3 now has one. It beat the Wii and 360 because it wasn't held up by stock shortages, but I can see these big hardware sales dropping sharply over the coming weeks.

It didn't sell out, it's hardly selling now. Simple logic.

It hold the record of best selling console launch over the weekend. It's really not a big deal since the PS3 had more available stock than the Wii did in EU.

For an opening weekend, impressive and unrestricted, but the fact I could go in today unchallenged (and bring along most of the people from my 100 strong lecture group) and score a PS3 for myself (and most of the people from my 100 strong lecture group) isn't good for the future.

The secret is momentum really. While the Wii's momentum isn't smooth with the shortages, the demand remains high. Now all the Sony fanboys have scored their little black box of joy, I can see a rather dismal fall.

Is there a record for most pitiful follow up weekend? Seems ironic it should be this coming weekend. I may just be an evil/childish person, but April 1st is looking good for me...

Me: Hi do you have any PS3s?
Shopkeep: Yes, we do.
Me: A lot?
Shopkeep: Yes, would you like one?
Me: Nope. Good day, Shopkeep.

< Happy little fanboy, EA.

Like we didn't see this one coming. Well, an 82% drop is actually more than expected, but a drop of any sort is completely unsurprising. If Sony want to make that $1200 per console found on the shelves offer to us Brits, I'd be only too happy to run around town and pick up my check for a couple of hundred grand.

Good luck spinning this one Sony.

82%? That's quite a lot. It's sort of embarrassing to the folks at Sony, too. Refused to comment on the subject... Perhaps they were crying their eyes out...

If PS3 were to write an autobiography I'm sure the title would be 'Veni, Vidi, Evanui'.

Actually according to Sony, the drop is meaningless

Well say what you will, I mean it is a long road ahead, but I think the bottom line is that right now, not a lot of people want a PS3.

50% is meaningless. 82% is a fucking shocker, and that's coming from me. And I don't think those were Sony's words, just some Chart lover Dorian Bloch, who I can't take so seirously with that name anyway.

Sony remaining tight-lipped by the looks of it. But for me, meaning= The hardcore PS crowd are happy now, everyone else is going to hold onto their pay cheque, first born child and vital organs.

Edit: Look, Ma! Price cut!
