This is from an artical I saw on Kotaku... “Any trend to produce programs and products — including animated films and video games — which in the name of entertainment exalt violence and portray anti-social behavior or the trivialization of human sexuality is a perversion” - The Pope Is it just me, or is this taking it a bit too far? If video games get me sent to hell, I don't know what to think. I strongly disagree with this, and I'm guessing God does too. I just can't wait for the Pope to chuckle and scream "Popcorn!" and we can just let this go.

What a time to pick on our hobby. Miserable git. Doesn't he realise Wintereenmas is here? Or maybe he does and he sees no better time to strike than when we are all eating away at our own souls...
I didn't realise Jack Thompson had connections with the Vatican...

Senile old ****er. This new Pope Palpatine is a complete ****ing tool. And no, I won't apologize to any Christians here or anyone else. JP2 was a great man, other popes have been great men. But I've hated Palpatine since before he was elected. A teacher of mine showed up pics/bios of a few of the "candidates" and he was the one that I said "Oh they better not choose him. Those other guys are great, but this one's a jackass."
Looks like the pope isn't infallible afterall.
EDIT: I'm not Christian so it doesn't effect me, but there are tons of devoted people out there that will give up their hobby because of this asshole.

How anyone can believe any one man is infallible is beyond me. Especially after all the mistakes previous popes have made. JP2 was the sh*t. He totally needs to be reserected all Jesus style and sh*t.

lmao. I'm thinking JP2 himself would object to that idea. Didn't he put in enough hours for the firm as it were?

As the resident Catholic until SouthPawLink steps up to the plate, I think I should speak up here. Look, what the Pope said was nothing new. Exalting violence in this context means making an idol of violence. It sort of falls along the lines of having only one God, and nothing shall come before God. And are we really surprised by trivialization of human sexuality as being a perversion? Catholicism states no sex until marriage, not even masturbation, which is a sin (if memory serves). And the portrayal of antisocial behavior is not a surprise, really. We know it exists, but wish to portray what it is to lead a "good" life, doing unto others as we would have them do unto us and such.
Okay, that last explaination was weak, I can admit. The first two are solid though. So really, why are you surprised? Pope's have done far worse in the past (or awesome, depending upon your perspective).

“Any trend to produce programs and products — including animated films and video games — which in the name of entertainment exalt violence and portray anti-social behavior or the trivialization of human sexuality is a perversion” - The Pope I find it funny that a man who isn't allowed to have sex is giving lectures on perversion, sex, and sexuality. I also find it funny that he's saying all this **** on video games when he's probably never picked up a controller in his life. Either way, it's just another statement that makes me continue to completely disregard anything and everything he says.

No matter the religion, pretty much everything you do is a sin. Face it...we don't stand a chance.

Either way, it's just another statement that makes me continue to completely disregard anything and everything he says. If there is the faintest possibility it has boobs... It's evil. The Virgin Mary was flat chested. If there is any naughty language... It's evil. I ain't ****ing with you. If it's violent... It's evil. Which always confuses me because my local church has gallons of Christ's blood floating about the place... Where the heck did it come from?

If it's violent... It's evil. Which always confuses me because my local church has gallons of Christ's blood floating about the place... Where the heck did it come from? Maybe Jesus has one of those disorders where he pisses blood? Regardless, I forget where I got this from, but violence is the root of all humanity. Even pregnancy is an extremely violent act as the child bursts through a hole in the mother only a fraction of its size. Human life starts with violence and, if you're lucky, ends in violence. So why not portray it in all of its beauty and glory?

*lots of stuff* And as the resident raised-Catholic who spends more time on Wikipedia than TW, I can say this: The pope isn't always infallible. In Roman Catholic theology, papal infallibility is the dogma that, by action of the Holy Spirit, the Pope is preserved from even the possibility of error when he solemnly promulgates, or declares, to the Church a dogmatic teaching on faith or morals as being contained in divine revelation, or at least being intimately connected to divine revelation. In fact, it is grammatically incorrect to say that the pope is infallible. Technically, it is the teaching which is regarded as infallible...the pope is just the guy saying it. ----- Theology lesson aside, this means crap. A "perversion" you say? What does that mean? Is it a sin? OK. So I sin. Everybody sins. Or it's not a sin, and we're good. So the pope doesn't like it. So what if he doesn't like something? Does he like Coke or Pepsi*? If you knew, would you always choose his preference? *In all likelyhood, Coke. Just sayin'.

Christian DOES NOT equal Catholic!
Now that I have that out of the way. I wouldn't lose sleep over it....who actually pays attention to the pope, aside from (KEYWORD!) exceptionally (/KEYWORD!) devout Catholics?

I don't care cause I don't belive in anything! Even if I had a religion, I wouldn't care cause like Illuminated said: No matter what you do, it's a sin... So everyone is going to burn in hell... Meh, who cares? Maybe it's not as terrible as they say... Let's do a BBQ party over there! (Btw, I don't belive in "Hell"... The last sentences were in the sole purpose to laugh at the supposed "Hell")

whoa. this pope is out of it. whatever i'm not catholic so i can still game and not go to hell. long live GAMEFREAKAGE! The Catholic God is still the same God as the Protestant one, and who's to say which is interpreting God's wishes most correctly? Or do you each get a different Heaven with different entrance requirements depending on which school of thought you belong to? I'm Agnostic btw, so I'm not trying to assert that one is better than the other.
