I heard God bought a Wii at Christmas.

Satan went for a PS3.

... Go figure.

Religion causes way too much trouble these days. If there is a higher power- I figure we're too dim, yes the entire human race, to truly know- then chances are it is looking down at us and screaming for us to get a grip.

Lol

That message by the pope was sad, though. Those things have stopped getting to me ages ago. The Church's never gonna admit defeat, have to work it out on someone, and guess what: we're the scapegoats of the year. Hooray.

Does this mean we're going to hell, because the pope disapproves of videogames?

Great idea: why doesn't someone make a video with the Pope having a go at the Wii???

Now THAT would be an awesome counter-attack. Someone up to it?!

Hahaha, cool start

No, you're not going to hell just yet. If the Pope would be swinging his Wiimote to counteract some earthly villian (or Satan himself), I suppose it'd be waaay worse

Nice go, though

Thats too much like hard work

I've actually had that floating around on my computer for a while now. Am I slightly psychic? Almost certainly.

Watch out for that last step at the shopping center, HS. It's a doozy.

Back on topic: Er... I'll leave that to someone else. I can't get over how insane this guys opinion is. Anyone who has something against video games is nuts.

EDIT: Why the hell did my mind just conjure up the image of Pope Palpatine shoving a Wii-mote up JP2s backside? That's not healthy...

Not because the pope is holding a Wiimote mind you, but because the picture depicts him with the ability to TWIST HIS HAND IN AN UNNATURAL WAY! EWWWWWWWWWWWZ!!!

I actually agree, everyone is a "pervert" in some way, it's in our nature and thus we like this kind of entertainment.

I find it funny that a man who isn't allowed to have sex is giving lectures on perversion, sex, and sexuality.
I also find it funny that he's saying all this **** on video games when he's probably never picked up a controller in his life.
Well it makes perfect sense, the Pope isn't "corrupted" by this stuff.

Brfore I even comment, can you tell me which Pope said that?
Paul the Second or the new guy?

Anyway, I think they mean in general.
The Roman Catholics always speak in general, and some are hypocrites. ('Cept the pope)
But I think it is meant in general. Like, if a game is the cause of outrageous sexual acts or violence.

Still.
You can't go to hell for a material thing like a Video Game.
Like if you smoke. It doesn't mean your going to hell.

You're sorta' taking it too literal.

Theology lesson aside, this means crap. A "perversion" you say? What does that mean? Is it a sin? OK. So I sin. Everybody sins. Or it's not a sin, and we're good.
Not that I'm Catholic or anything, but that's exactly the way I see it.  He's not trying to get video games bad or anything, he's just pointing out that they're not really a great thing.  And really, I don't think that Mr. Pope is necessarily wrong.  I mean, gettin' headshots in Halo isn't exactly the epitome of holiness and perfection that religion is always tryin' to make you strive for.  And video games causing anti-social behavior?  That sounds about right to me.

Nah, I bet the pope has mad 1337 skillz.

I'm anti-social because I'm anti-social, not because I play video games.  It's not like I let inanimate objects take control of my life.

Yeah, cause Satan's not the one who would partake in the purchasing of a system that would consume people's lives and make them have fun outside of church.

Considering their popularity, I'm sorry guys but the Wii would go to Satan and the PS3 to God. No one plays the PS3, they'd rather spend their time worshiping. But the Wii is a huge distraction.

Oh, and next time you wanna photoshop a picture to try and be funny, at least make sure it looks physically possible, otherwise you've defeated the purpose of the joke and it's... well... just not funny anymore. Coulda/shoulda mirrored the pope's image before adding the Wiimote hand.

For the record, anti-social behavior has nothing to do with not being social.  It's the condition in which a person has no guilt in harming others or in violating thier rights, and the debate as to whether or not video games can cause this behavior has been going on since before the Jack Thompson days.

Wow, I would hate to live life through your eyes. Yeah, all of humanity is inherently bad, except of course for the Pope (pay no attention to how the church handled the priest-sex scandals. Critical thinking need not apply).

Wikipedia defines "perversion" as "a term and concept describing those types of human behavior that are perceived to be a deviation from what is considered to be orthodox or normal. It was originally defined as a "deviation from the original meaning or doctrine", literally a "turning aside" from the norm."

Seems to me the Pope is the one living outside the norm.

Is it just me, or is this taking it a bit too far? If video games get me sent to hell, I don't know what to think. I strongly disagree with this, and I'm guessing God does too.

I just can't wait for the Pope to chuckle and scream "Popcorn!" and we can just let this go.

Did the Pope actually say that on the quote?

There was a gif I wanted to post, but meh. >.>

I never said the Pope wasn't perverted also notice how I put quotations marks on some of the words to indicate that those aren't exactly my words or beliefs.

Seems to the Pope that we'll all living outside the norm by that definition.

Well I think that the fact that it's far harder (if not impossible) to find someone that's never done something wrong than it is to find someone that's done a lot wrong is proof enough that we're inherently bad creatures.

Yes you are pretty much right, we are humans and we all sin, thus we are not perfect and can not go without sinning.
