DS rules, PSP drools. Corny, but it's a fact.
Yes,PSP does drool. Everyone thinks the PSP is good because of it having the ability to play Movies,Roms/Emulators etc. The DS is better cause more original Ideas,Good games, etc. The PSP would be good if it actually did have Orginal Ideas and good games but nope.I swear there was this one game I played on my Friends PSP and it was the same.....no wait scratch that....Identical to Zelda.Seriously.Sony in general have so screwed themselfs its not even funny.

PSP sux because it is yet another work of copy-cat-ism that Sony has made to... 'rival' Nintendo. It has good graphics... if you like your graphics as jaggy and rough as Chuck Norris's beard. And no... that is not insulting Chuck Norris. I would never insult Chuck Norris (lol, I'm a Conan O' Brien fan).

You prove yourself to be a fool time and time again in that thread, and not only through your atrocious spelling. The only ownage in that thread is every single PSP owner contradicting your fanboyish remarks with cold hard facts. Do the research or keep your mouth shut. For the record, this is coming from someone who doesn't even like the PSP.

Now that was ownage. Doesn't make the PSP much better, but at least Faceless looks even cooler than we already knew he was now.

The PSP isnt bad I think. Theres a few good games (BF2, GTA, Tony Hawks) but despite having them, I dont play them very much. Why? Because of the long loading times. I'd love a quick shoot around in BF2, but I have to wait 3 or 4 minutes for the game to load. DS however, has really quick loading times. What the PSP needs is mor onboard RAM.
I use my PSP for internet browsinsg around the house and playing Music load, mainly.

I had a PSP and I got rid of it. I played BF2, MH, MC3, and Medievil Ressurection. Those are okay games. Now I play a DS Lite till one or so in the morning cause some of the games are so addictive. In the end it costs so much money to keep up with it (memory cards being like 40 something bucks) it just wasn't worth it. So I traded it in for a Lite and don't regret a thing.
However if you want a portable media center go ahead and get the PSP because if thats what you are going to use if for then it is a very good buy.
I feel sick now.

My confidece in PSP has just been restored due to the awesome feat of Tekken-Dark Reserrection.
It's got PS2 quality graphics and awesome loading times, and the best AI system encountered on any console game ever.

Rumor has it that the PSP port of Oblivion has been scrapped. I can't blame the developers for this. After seeing incredible renditions of the game on the PS3, 360, and PC, a graphically impaired PSP version would only seem like a step backwards. http://kotaku.com/gaming/rumor/oblivion-psp-canned-285312.php

I don't think it was ever intended to be a port either.
Anyway, if you're going to use that logic, UM, you might as well not develop any game for anything other than the highest end PC hardware out there.

I don't think it was ever intended to be a port either. It's not an exact copy of previous games, no. From what I understand, you'll be doing more dungeon raids in the PSP version, as opposed to open travel on the world map. (My personal guess is that was going to be a cheap tactic on behalf of the developers to keep framerates up. Outside areas are harder to render and can cause a dramatic performance hit when multiple NPCs are on screen) Anyway, if you're going to use that logic, UM, you might as well not develop any game for anything other than the highest end PC hardware out there. What logic? All is said is that I can't (and won't) blame developers for this. I'm not going to lose sleep over a game that I wasn't really looking forward to. Besides, I've seen graphically intense games and series ported to inferior systems with sub-par results (i.e. Resident Evil 4). This may not be an exact port, as that has yet to be seen, but I'm more than willing to wager the PSP won't be able to handle it smoothly, regardless of optimization. Above all, it would be a shame to see a great game have it's legacy tainted because of an awkward entry. We'll have to wait and see about that though. It could potentially be a winner (provided it ever does come out), but I'm not going to hold my breath.

The real problem with the PSP is that it doesn't really fit the Handheld genre. I'd love to play my PSP more often, but all the games I play on it are just smaller versions of PS2/3 counterparts, basically. Either go 2D with Handheld games, or don't make them at all. I have consoles for immersive experiences, I have my DS for quick and fulfilling experiences. Example, one of the only good PSP games, Lumines, is just a puzzle game with good music. Unless you're on a Road Trip, you don't get too much accomplished, anyway. And if you're playing your PSP at home, then you must not have anymore good console games.
With the Music and Movies deal, it just tries to do too much while not doing it well.
AND!!!!!!!!!
Think I should sell my PSP?

Indigo's right. All fanboyism aside, my feud with Sony is that, in most of their products, they try too hard to incorporate everything they think a customer could need, which is usually everything they *can* put in there, technologically speaking. The PS3 has already proven this is not always the best move, as has the PSP. Though relatively popular (um, someone provide some data? ), no handheld will ever be able to top of the DS. So unless some actual handheld-esque games are developed for the PSP, it'll just remain a gimmick - being able to do a whole lot of things other devices already can, but not doing them as good. 'Nuff said.

The PSP is alright, but Nintendo will always be the best. Without them, Sony wouldn't even be making games.

Though relatively popular (um, someone provide some data? ) PSP Global sales: 22.84 million. Which...*pauses for dramatic effect because of what he is about to say* is quite a respectable number. Certainly the most competiton Nintendo has faced in a very, very long time (like, ever). (Been a while since I ventured into these boards, huh? I swear I just said something positive too...)

PSP could be doing a lot worse, Game Gear, afterall, only sold less than 9 million units and it was around for five or so years, of course the industry was a bit smaller back then and Sega didn't have the same brand recognition that Sony did when it released PSP. Even the name Game Gear just implied it was a major ripoff of Game Boy. Also, there was the Atari Lynx which might have been more akin to the N-Gage of its day, given its sales of 2 million units.
So, PSP's been the most successful non-Nintendo handheld, but I think the great failure of the PSP is a multilayered cake of delicious karma.
First of all, remember back when the PSP was first announed? It was like two years before it actually came out and there was talk of it being more powerful than any current gen system at that time, when it finally was unveiled, Sony was the console market leader and had a ton of brand recognition. So throwing PlayStation on to a handheld device was a no-drainer, right? Remember all the hype? The amazing fake videos of what "could be", all the multimedia functions, and Spider-Man 2! It was supposed to take us out of the "handheld gaming ghetto", but in the end, it was the obviously clumsily designed DS with its sub-par graphical output and strange assortment of launch games that has become the apple of the handheld industry's eye and actually expanded the industry to include more than just what we consider gamers.
