Sometimes, I forget forget the job of a moderator is to take the "middle ground", so let us step into the proverbial time machine and correct some misnomers.
First off, this statement:
If history repeats itself will probably just be a watered down version with tacked on controls.
Well so is Bioshock for the 360 but that seems to be the one everyone has.
This is humorous, but in the humor there is truth, even by your own admission dwrior2, the PC version of Bioshock is visually superior, and from what I've seen, it's
noticeable even to the untrained eye. The testimonial I received I trust more than you dwrior, regardless of how many systems or what kind of PC you may own. But I also checked out some footage for myself and did notice a difference, largely in the lighting and overall slickness of things.
My next point is that the controls are tacked on, well mapped out or not, you have to admit that a mouse and keyboard is superior for controlling an FPS than a mouse, and yeah there's people that are exceptions, but they are
exceptions rather than the rule. Just like those who prefer the GCN version of Twilight Princess to the Wii one.
So what I meant by this comment wasn't a malicious attack on the 360's visual prowess, or some attempt to insight dwrior into posting pictures of Crusin' USA to show that even great hardware can be blighted by third parties, at least that's what I'll now
assume he meant for I doubt he's that foolish to assume that the game is at all any representation of the Wii's hardware. What I meant was that just because there's a superior version of a game, it doesn't invalidate it's existence. Here's another example, the PS2 version of RE4 sold better to the superior Gamecube version despite its inferior visuals and throw-away tack ons.
That said, if you have the option to get any version of the game, which would you get? I don't know, but odds are if you own a 360 or PS3 you're the kind of guy who likes his hardware, so you'll probably get that one, or maybe you want something different and you'll get the Wii one, or perhaps you just own a Wii, that's the version you'll get no matter what.
Now to get some other business aside:
Dwrior, you said a lot, and a lot of it's just silly, but I think we can both agree we diverted to a slightly less civilized state of mind in our posts. I'm willing to drop it if you are.
Show me a recent, quality game for the Wii other than MP3 and then well talk Jord.
A lot of Wii games out there are of a different quality than what you'd find on the 360, but I agree, mini games and experimental titles, just as post-apocalyptic shooters do. I think Metroid's the best game to come out for the Wii and more developers ought to follow Retro's lead. But that's not to say there aren't big games on the very near horizon, and more in the works. Remember, there were very few 360 games worth getting in the first year, and the same was true of PS2.
I suppose you would say the Wii has the best controls if Bioshock was on it...if the Wii could haddle it that is.
Oh I'm sure it could, it just would look very different. It's not like it's some breakthrough in game design that can't be run on any other software. In the end, it's the same FPS you've been playing with a great paint job and presented in a gold and platinum case.
Tis true. If it doesnt come to the Wii do you just condem it?
No, I actually don't think the concept for the game sounds that good, frankly, we've visited Star Wars a little too much for my liking, and this whole "new apprentice" story, I'm just not digging it.
Not all of us can afford $3000 gaming PC's ya know. So thats why we have 360's which are a better deal at the current point in time.
It doesn't take a $3000 gaming PC to run Bioshock, in fact you could easily run it on a single cored machine(do they make those) with enough RAM and a good enough video card. And the 360 version of Bioshock isn't maxed out by PC standards, there IS a difference.
Physics look best on it, Acheviments are fun to earn and it was orriginally announced for it.
Wii version= Cheep novelty item whose controls are gonna suck
You don't know that yet.
