Just wondering if it was possible to make a little adjustment to the Quick Reply box. It could also apply to the main reply box...

On the old style forum, it was possible to expand (and subsequently reduce) the height of the post boxes while posting, and I was busy making a pretty wordy post today and thinking, "Scrolling up and down is just the tiniest bit awkward..."

Is it possible? If so, it would be pretty nice to see.

Also, some basic buttons for tags to the side of the QR box would be nice...

All done.

on reading into it a little deeper, i honestly would have no idea at this point in time how to do it.    My forte is PHP not html or javascript.  Id hate to see what'd happen if you ran this theme through a validator XD

In other news, i enhanced the quick reply template with a modification one of my ex-SMF mod developer friends made.

But the use of a quick reply is to 'quickly' reply. With all those buttons and whatnot it's exactly like a normal reply so what's the use of the normal reply now?

Well, its a few more options than I expected (just the smilies and minor font tweaks would've done) but a good add IMO.

And, Witless, it's still quick because 1- It's still at the bottom of the page, 2- You can ignore the buttons...? I really don't get how its hindering your ability to reply quickly. IMO, tapping a button = quicker than coding.

And the size changing for the text box isn't overly necessary, just handy. If it's too complicated (I know it was to explain ) then I won't worry so much.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I just don't think a 'Quick Reply' needs something like that. That's why we have Reply and Quick Reply. The Reply feature is totally unnecessary now.

But now that it's already here we might as well make use of it.

Not if you're quoting. God knows what chaos would unfold with some Quick Quote thing...

And like I said, there was a little more added than I expected.

BTW:

Database Error
Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator.

This post is me reporting said error. Which has come up a couple of times in the past half hour or so...

I really like it that the quick reply now has full functionality. I always start typing in the quick reply but then I need to put a link, or put sth in bold or italics and I'm screwed. I dislike having to press reply to have full functionality.

You could also remember the BBcodes...

I bloody well know them. But it takes ages. (*)

You only need your keyboard to type those BBcodes you know...

The buttons are way quicker than typing the codes, especially with links. I just tested it. And I can type pretty damn fast.

I find the typing the code to be faster, but to each his own.
