I'm tagging along with a friend to say with my best friend & his gf and some other people in Germany.  It's a 4 or 5 hour drive from here, we should be there by nightfall and I'm staying until Sunday afternoon

Good times ahead! :3

Germany is terrible, any country that allowed me to be born there is horrible.

Well I'm back from Germany and let me just say that everyone still holding a grudge against the Germans is missing out.  The people are nice, and the country itself is one of the greatest sight-seeing one in Europe.  The houses and streets are very nice, everything is tidy, organized yet still organic, functional yet still artsy and fancy, etc.

Two of my friends have a German gf, one of them has been living and working there for a year or two already.  He's still the same sociable guy, just speaking German too now, lol.

So anyways, great times :3

We drove past Dortmund!  (high way, so I don't know what the city is actually like).  Probably more of an industry-based city, no?

I stayed in Göttingen, more of a student-city (because of the University, obviously).  So mostly young(er) people.  No old farts, and if there was industry it was outside the actual city.

Dortmund is pretty industrial from what I've seen (only visited briefly to see what my birth town was like) but the main reason dortmund is pretty terrible is because of the level of animosity some english people there can face (it's home to one of the largest still remaining British military presences), so I didn't feel very welcome, at least from a lot of people.

Wouldn't all of that apply to Belgium as well?

At least compared to South Carolina, at any rate.

Actually, the houses here don't have that neat German style.  A lot of similar houses over here, bricks and roofs.

And it's definitely not as tidy over here.  People chuck cigarettes, wrappers, bottles etc. wherever they feel like.  There needs to come a law on littering.  A city without garbage all over is so much more pleasant.

Well many European countries are nice and clean, it becomes really apparent when you just really don't see any littering at all, makes you notice all the trash at home.

Ah well.

Yeah from the Flemish part.  Most people don't take kindly to the Walloons.  Or just don't care much about them.  Not much interesting seems to happen there up the hills.
