All of the standard rules are applicable here, specifically these rules will be enforced due to the frivolous nature of the content of this forum:

No flaming
No derailing existing topics, that includes changing the rules suddenly or TREATING A TOPIC AS A CHAT ROOM
No sexually explicit posts
No vulgarity

Remember, just because the posts here don't add to your post count doesn't mean you can post whatever you want.  Keep it above the belt and have fun!

The easy-count rule previously uses the "post number" of the previous post (in the upper right corner).

The previous forum people had managed to get to 7005.

The rule is 7006 + "post number".

Add 7006 to the previous post number of the thread, or, if you want to check after the post, add 7005 to the reply count of your current post.

Isn't that just great? This way no mistakes can ever be made again.

Yours sincerely,

Hyruleansoldier.

EDIT: Since the recent forum change, the first post isn't counted anymore, so +1 has to be added. I updated the easy-count rule in the Notification post below.

It is a joke thread.  Folks 'round here can count however they want, be it quadruple digits, double digits, single digits, or even triple digits.

Of course they can, I'm the first to encourage that. I started all the variation madness. So stones go here.

Just wanted to point out that for whoever is still really keeping score there is that easy way of knowing which number has been reached at every point. Thought it would be handy.

But please, by all accounts, try to do sth FUN with it. Mere counting has never proven to be much fun... It's the variation baby.

Notification on the counting in Let's Count To A Million!

Since the recent forum change, the first post isn't counted anymore as now only the "reply numbers" are shown (below the specific post).

Since the easy-count rule for the One Million thread previously used the "post number" of the previous post (in the upper right corner), an extra +1 has to be added in the new rule.

The previous forum people had managed to get to 7005, and the previous rule was 7006 + "post number", but now we have to add one to compensate for the "reply number". Here's the new rule:

Add 7007 to the previous post number of the thread, or, if you want to check after the post, add 7006 to the reply count of your current post.

Enjoy the counting  ;D

Because a lot of people are worried their grandchildren may be continuing the counts, I will be semi-regularly updating this post to inform you all of how many days/years the Counts To and From One Million will take to reach their targets and give you all a firm kick up the bum where needed.

Count To A Million

The following estimate is based on the date of my first post in the Count to on January 13th 2007, since that was when the counting chaos really picked up.

January 13th 2007: 7,950
August 19 2010 : 141,417
Days: 1314
Posts between dates: 133,467

Count Rate: 133,467 / 1314 = 101.6
Previous Count Rate: 99.9 Numbers Per Day Day (Previously 120, 162, 189, and 204)
Numbers to target (1,000,000) = 858,583

At current Count Rate (101.6 NpD), Target will be reached in: 8,451 days

Date of Target Achievement at current rate: Saturday, 8 October 2033

Previous Date of Achievement: Wednesday, 31 May 2034

You know what's ironic about the "don't treat the count as a chatroom" rule? It's precisely the opposite at ZU's count! Over there, posting just the number is discouraged, and we should post something of substance. Because an entire thread consisting of little more than numbers and no conversation is sheer spam and may one day get that count locked.

I just think that we have two ends of the spectrum here and then there is mildly amusing.

Indeed, good sir!

I think it's just fine the way it is.  It's never like it's huge, lengthy conversations taking place in the count anyway, maybe moreso in the Last Person To Post but not many people go there and it's a good way to vent.  We shouldn't become to anal about treating threads as something they're not until people actually start abusing threads (or people) and/or if it becomes annoying for one or more people.  But since that is not the case, I think things are just swell!

January 13th 2007: 7,950
June 9th 2009: 113,434
Days: 878
Posts between dates: 105,484

Count Rate: 105,484 / 878 = 120 Numbers Per Day
Previous Count Rate: 162 Numbers Per Day (Previously 189, previously 204)
Numbers to target (1,000,000) = 886,566

At current Count Rate (120 NpD), Target will be reached in: 7,388 days

Date of Target Achievement at current rate: Friday, 31 August 2029

Previous Date of Achievement: Thursday, 19 October 2023
I think we need to update this. I'll help give an idea of how the count's been doing, but EA is probably better at calculating it.

My first post in the count:
28,140

Sign the SMRPG Sequel Petition!

A post made in the count exactly a year later:
:yay: One hundred :yay:
:yay: mother loving :yay:
:yay: thousand!!!
:yay:

(That's 71,860 numbers counted in a year.)

So how are we doing now?

A post made exactly one year ago:
107,166

You win!

And a post made today:
119,013

Go EA!
That's 11,847 counted in the past year.

So...our counting is approximately *calculates* 16.49% as productive as it was pre-100K. We need more counters. Now.

I calculated from the April 21st days that if we would have kept up that pace we'd be at 1 mil after twelve and a half years.

From last year to today however, with this pace, we'd reach 1 mil in 74.4 years.  Wonderful.

I restored a few posts before realizing that it would take forever and wouldn't be worth it.

The current number should be 10,593 above the reply count.

To get the amount of the next post: 10,601 + the number of that post

To check a post: 10,600 + the number of the post that you want checked
