Sure, but when has Nintendo ever shown a trailer at a smaller trade show like this? Gamescom looks to be a mostly demo-based event. They're not even having a press conference like Microsoft and Sony are.

Nintendo's own events have been much more reliable in terms of providing new trailers and information on upcoming games. While it'll probably be mostly 3DS-related, I think September 29 also seems like a likely time to reveal release information and trailers for Kirby, Donkey Kong, and Zelda, just as February's Media Summit did for Galaxy 2, Sin & Punishment and Metroid.

Maybe. It's all speculation for now (lucky we love that). One thing is certain...

... Things are still very quiet on the Vitality Sensor front.

Oh, that's right. Well I wouldn't be surprised to see some Vitality Sensor there as well. I'm getting more of a "DSi announcement" feel from this than a "MARIO METROID HYYYYPE!!"

...Which I guess could mean that it won't feature any trailers from already announced games. But even the DSi Summit had Sin & Punishment and Punch-Out!! trailers.

Weren't they going to make a new multiplayer Four Swords (esque) game, for the 3DS?

Four Swords for 3DS? First I've heard of it. There were rumblings that Phantom Hourglass was going to be FS-related, but that didn't turn into anything. Maybe that's what HS is thinking of?

No it was something more recent I read.  Might have been an interview, or someone's thoughts on it.

It would be fun though, more multiplayer Zelda fun.

So, here's a peripheral that came all too late for the Drawn to Life franchise.

Nintendo revealed a bunch of new release dates at Gamescom, including Kirby, DK, and Wii Party. Interestingly enough, the Vitality Sensor is nowhere to be seen. Still thinking it might have been canceled.

Not to be outdone by the recent release date announcement for Duke Nukem Forever, Nintendo has served up its own mindboggling news: they're making good WiiWare games!

The first doesn't have a title in English yet, but will be known as Surinuke Anatousu in Japan. It features 3D Tetris-style blocks that the player needs to rotate to fit into oddly shaped holes in walls that are approaching the screen. Here's a video that demonstrates it well:

The game will be released in three days in Japan, with a Western date not yet announced.

The second game is titled Fluidity, a 2D puzzle game that appears to involve tilting the Wii Remote to tilt the game's environment and form a puddle of water that the player then uses to solve puzzles. Here's the trailer from PAX:

It's nice to see Nintendo finally putting out some good products on this service that has largely been supported by third parties. Here's hoping they get released by the end of the year.

Wii Remote Plus announced. As the name suggests, it's a Wiimote with MotionPlus built in. It will be bundled with FlingSmash later this year.

Hahaha, am I the only one who thinks it's an utter joke that this wasn't brought out when motion plus was? And simply replaced the old wiimotes straight away?

It prints money and all that.

Yeah it's kind of silly.

But I never got a MotionPlus so it's all good.

Yeah, as I said.
It prints money and all that.

Make everyone pay extra for wiimotes and a peripheral, then bring out the combined product at a lower price than both are separate.
It will cause some non adopters to buy the new ones, and probably sway some adopters to simply buy a few more controllers.
Meaning they maximise profit.

The red Wii is coming to North America! But instead of being packed in with an updated version of Super Mario All-Stars...

...you get New Super Mario Bros. Wii. And a Wii Remote Plus.

Hits November 7, for all of you who still don't have the system.

Oh, you can also get a red DSi XL, but... it's probably not the best time to be buying one of those.

I saw that little comment aimed at me and I don't intend on buying unless by some magical impulse I have an extreme urge to play NSMB. And I won't. But itd be cool to have one, I will admit.

I think this is exciting: The Mario series will be getting both sidescrolling platformers and 3D platformers on 3DS. Very much looking forward to each.

Some gamecube ports perchance? Super Mario Sunshine maybe?
They'll find some creative way to utilize the 3-d.
