Even people that are born with only a braintstem don't play Halo for the campagin mode. It's a joke. I don't agree. I was complaining about it being too short because it's excellent, not because it's a joke. It might not compare to that of HL2, but it's still very fun, and frankly, I mostly bought the game because of the campaign. Heck, I don't even have XBL yet. yeah Halo's multiplayer isn't that great. Now this is just down-right incorrect. If this were true, Halo would not have broken the record for most pre-orders and most games sold on opening day, which FYI, was previously held by the last game in the series, Halo 2.

That's an opinion, I've enjoyed playing Halo in the past, but there are multiplayer games that I'd much rather play. Of course, this could be because I'm not much a FPS fan. The number of games sold on opening day, much less ever, do not determine the greatness of a game. There are plenty of games tha sold extremely well that are barely par, not to say this is the case for Halo. As far as FPS games go, Halo is (arguably) king.

That's an opinion, I've enjoyed playing Halo in the past, but there are multiplayer games that I'd much rather play. Of course, this could be because I'm not much a FPS fan. We are talking FPS games. you can't compare one genre to another with multi player games because you got people who like other genres more and what you get is an entirely opinionated argument. And halo's multi player is the best FPS multi player system available. Why? Because no other FPS multi player allows you to invent your own game modes as effectively as Halo does. Especially in halo 3. The amount of customization options for game modes in halo 3 is amazing. You can make one team faster than the other but give them very limited weapons and ammo. Or you could make a game with no weapons and only have banshees and hornets and have an all dogfighting game. And you have not played a more fun game of halo then having only rockets and everyone on super fast mode. When you can outrun your own rockets the game gets pretty intense. And what other FPS game offers 4 person co-op play. If you don't think Halo has the best FPS multi player then you are either not a FPS fan or you have trouble recognizing glory.

? Because no other FPS multi player allows you to invent your own game modes as effectively as Halo does. You know some FPS games actually allow you to invent your own games? Not just the modes. If you do really have that nice shiny gaming PC Bill and love FPS games, I suggest you get into the PC FPS scene. It's where all the cool kids are.

Finished the game last night on Heroic. Simply amazing. The campaign was one of the best that I have ever played, the difficulty was definatley upped and Forge is officially the coolest thing ever.

Getting a little philosophical here, but I think that when the evidence is as overwhelming as it is here, it’s safe to say that it’s a fact that Halo 3 multiplayer is excellent. If it were just game sales, I might agree with you. But Halo 3 has also beaten the record for game most played on XBL on opening day; a fact that would not be so if no one enjoyed playing it. Not to mention the huge success that was Halo 1 and Halo 2, both offline and online, which also goes to demonstrate its greatness. Then we have to look at the fact that Halo 3 was actually developed and that so many people bought it, which means that the first two, obviously, turned out quite well. People don’t usually set pre-order records for a game the previous two installments of which sucked.

PC games offer unlimited modification options. It's not fair to compare that to a console which can't be modified in such a way due to software and storage restrictions. I'm talking the original game here. Not using the games engine or modding the game in any way. It's the most effective in that way because of it's simplicity.

XD Excellence is a state of being governed by opinion. Simple case of hasty generalization, my friend. Either way, saying Halo's multiplayer is excellent is an opinion. Just because most of the popultion concurs, doesn't make it fact. That's a silly notion. Ah...devil's advocate...

That's a silly notion. Again, I don’t agree. Define ‘excellence’ a little better, because I don’t believe that it is simply a matter of opinion. What would make a game excellent? I would categorize this one in two sections: 1) How well it meets the goals of its creators; how much money it makes. 2) How well it pleases the gamers. After all, what other qualities/justifications/purposes does a game (such as this) have?

I concede. In the way you've presented it, the game does excel.
I agree that the game is good, but it's not gonna make me buy a 360, but again...this has to do with me not being a huge FPS fan.

[Halo is] not gonna make me buy a 360 Heh, I don't think it would have for me either; if my room mate had not had the 360, I likely would not be playing it now. Though I was thinking about getting a 360 soon anyways, and I still might when i get a little money...

I had Assain's Creed it is alright... As for Halo 3 I think the multiplayer and solo campaign and such was great the cutscenes were well done (some cheesey lines) and some stand out effects. But Halo 3 for me lacks the fun of Halo 1's campaign but damn multiplayer is sweet. Sure I can nit pick and I have done so about the assault rifle (32 bullets barely kills brutes on normal) and I could go all fanboy on you, but to tell the truth I thought and was thoroughly prepared for the third to suck and fall completely on it's ass. It didn't and I was glad, but I found out if you don't have XBL then it can get old very fast.

I love Halo 3. It's literally breathtaking to me for a video game. Story and Online. I beat the last level on Legendary at my friends house... I was surprised at how easy it was... >.<
