I'm gonna be a good citizen and bring this discussion where it belongs.

Quote from: EA
I was more hoping someone could shed light on what makes it such an addictive game.
The best I can say for the single player is that it doesn't suck (and legendary mode is actually a challenge, too), but it's got the sort of crazy-party-multiplayer fun that one usually finds in Nintendo games.  I'm not sure how exactly that works out, but the weapons aren't bad, the vehicles are a pretty good time, there're plenty of game modes, and the ability to create your own variants is pretty nifty as well (as limited as it may be).  And although I can't really speak for XBL, LANing a couple of Xboxs to play Halo 2 with a group of friends is about as much fun as one can have without their pants on.

Quote from: EA
And why, unlike Nintendo which has such a variety of games when asked "What are the top five Nintendo games?" no one can go through the top five Xbox games without saying Halo, and then stutter...
The way I see it, Nintendo has always put out strong first-party titles.  And although relatively scarce, they are the core games that all Nintendo people own and love (see: SSBM, Double Dash, Metroid Prime).  Microsoft, on the other hand, relies much more on third party games, so while they tend to have a greater selection of titles, fewer of them are going to be those knock-your-socks-off-elite-awesome games.  Of course, I may just be speaking out my ***, but that, as I say, is the way I see it.

I agree, most of the time Microsoft games can really suck but there are rare moments when they are good as in Halo and Fable.

So, if most of their games are bad, why do people still buy the consoles and the upgrades for that matter?

Most for those few must-have games, but also probably because it's got pretty good third-party support, which gives a constant stream of mediocre games that are sometimes worth checking out.

People fail to remember that what is so good about xbox is not the amount of exclusives. Which is decent but lacking. It is actually the amount of features. The online play is amazing and well organized. True it costs money but it's like 4 dollars a month. Not a big deal. And it does online better than any other system. Gamecube doesn't even have online games. And playstation 2 is very unorganized. 2nd is the multiplayer ability. Gamecube has some amazing multiplayer games. Problem is they don't have a lot of multiplayer features. The ability for the xbox to be connected to a LAN network of other xboxes was huge. I can't tell you how much fun i've had playing halo at a huge 16 person lan party. That's some amazing fun right there. And in my opinion even though the games themselves are lacking the games that are available make up for it due to the amazing amount of multiplayer features that quite simply had the gamecube beat in multiplayer fun.

Maybe online console gaming, but online in general? No.

Honda's men are no longer Street Fighters. They see this as a Mortal Kombat, and they have the Killer Instinct. If you do not help your friends, this may be their Final Fight. . . Clayfighter.

Yeah, Xbox live rules the online gaming world.

XBL has, what 2 million accounts?  World of Wacraft is pushing 9 million.
