Quote from: Ebert, old hag
"I'm 82 years old, so I missed that part of our culture. Soap operas, yes. Video games, no," chirped Ebert, who recently started playing a tennis game on Nintendo Co. Ltd.'s new Wii video game console at the Virginia retirement community she calls home.

Haha, there's simply no downside to making fun of the elderly.

Honestly though, I think it's... "cool" even the elderly can enjoy (and are enjoying) Nintendo's Wii. It really *is* for all ages now isn't it... The big N really did good...

Aren't there enough i's in Wii already...

Sadly I have yet to convince my grandfolks into a little Wii action, the fact one is blind is a slight handicap and I'm not cruel enough to abuse this fact.

Following the Brain Training incident of 2006 though, their disinterest may not be a bad thing...

It's basically saying for Nintendo, "Well done lads. Mission accomplished. All you need to do is get your console accepted by animals and plantlife and total global domination is yours."

Try getting your grandma to play Virtua Tennis 3 for 360 or PS3 (after you've mugged her of six years pension in the case of the latter) and tell us Nintendo haven't achieved something special.

That's pretty damn right. No other console or company could have pulled THAT off.

It just goes to show the extent of the Wii's intuitive appeal to people of all ages, sex & background (gamer or non-gamer). Let's hear a big cheer for the big N.

I'm with Cap'n. It's not that interesting.

There are eldery folks who play World of Warcraft. A guy in one of my guilds says his grandmother plays it, and no one else in there seems to think it's a big deal, so I'd have to assume that a lot of people know eldery people who play, judging by their reactions to his statement.

Honda's men are no longer Street Fighters. They see this as a Mortal Kombat, and they have the Killer Instinct. If you do not help your friends, this may be their Final Fight. . . Clayfighter.
