There's no need to insight an argument here, just because somebody is unhappy with their console doesn't mean they're dumb. They may have bad taste, but they they certainly aren't dumb.
Second, there's no need to go grave digging.
Third, there's no need to derail dead topics.
Although on that note, not that the PS3 has a small library of worthwhile games and the system now starts at $399, is it worth it?
I still say no.

Depends really. It's worth it for the technology. I'd buy one now if I could afford it. Though, what gripes me now is that the PS3 has ( to my knowledge ) Blu-ray 1.0, instead of 1.1 or 2.0, which are the newer versions of Blu-Ray. It doesn't suppor pip or secondairy audio or video decoders. It's nothing big, but should Blu-Ray become succesful, it would be great to be able to watch the extra's on a PS3.
They have yet to anounce wether it'll be upgraded or not.

I don't know...
A $400 price tag coupled with some of the big name titles finally coming out next year and somewhat early in the year(so far), it might start leaning more towards worth it.
Too bad I bought mine at $500...a month before ti hit $399...

Well, with my new 1080p LCD, I'm hankering for some real high-def gaming and movies, which has basically convinced me to get a PS3, what with its Blu-ray player and upcoming AAA titles. Problem is: I won't settle for anything other than the 60GB version, which Sony was stupid enough to discontinue, and therefore is becoming impossible to find at a reasonable price, if at all.
I don't want the 80GB version with its glitchy, software-based BC, or the copped-out 40GB one with no BC at all-- half the reason I want it is to play my old PS/PS2 games in upscaled definition. I guess if I can't find one, I'll have to pass on PS3 altogether and just play my brother's 360...

half the reason I want it is to play my old PS/PS2 games in upscaled definition. They don't look good in an upscaled definition. Anyway, as Blu-Ray stands now, the PS3 is a really good deal if you like watching HD movies. It's a shame they don't sell the BC version anymore, otherwise I'd probably get it. 400 Euros is reasonable.

I have a 40 GB and I'm completely happy with it. I don't feel the need to have more memory because videos/music/images are on my computer, although I have some favorites on it, no videos yet. Anyway, Rock Band is good for PS3, and Call of Duty 4 is just as stunning as it is on the 360.
If you guys want to get a 360, go ahead, but I got my PS3 for the next Socom, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasies, and Heavenly Sword. I am happy with the visuals, sound, and resolutions.

Well I guess I'll weigh in again, since it seems the PS3 is a "continuum", some days it's up and some day's it's done.
Should I ever buy another next-generation system, at the present, I would buy a PlayStation 3 because it should offer more of the game's I'd be interested in playing. The 360 does have a lot of excellent titles, but many of them are also available on the PC or the PS3, and it seems like its list of exclusives will continue to grow thin as its first and second party developers jump ship or get purchased. For instance, now that Bioware is owned by EA, EA will likely gear Bioware's games towards more markets rather than just PC or 360.
Also, Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy XIII seem more tantalizing than just about any exclusive 360 title that I'd want to buy, this should be obvious as if the game had games I really want, I'd have bought a 360. Ultimately, PlayStation is still stronger in Asain and European territories, and it could reach the same success level as the 360 eventually. Of course, I think that a lot of the titles that may normally come to Sony traditionally may soon land on Wii as it continues to out pace every platform globally.
The problems I still have with the PlayStation 3 is that its future is still on shakey ground from a software standpoint, and they're constantly modifying the SKUs to make it seem like a better deal, like some kind of infomercial product. "You get a Blu-Ray Player, a PlayStation, and PlayStation 2*, a 80 gig hard drive, a BluRay movie, and so much more! But wait, there's more, wait two months and we'll double that hard disc size to 160 gigabytes! Amazing!" *PlayStation 2 backward compatibility limited or nonexistent on most models.
And to ..Ninja*, we can't be sure what platform the next Kingdom Hearts will land on yet.
Overall, I'm going to wait and see what things look like in year. Should the Wii not deliver like I think it will and should the PlayStation 3 thrive, I'll consider picking one up. Otherwise, I'll just stick with my PC and Wii.

Indeed. However I have faith in it coming out for PS3. As soon as our insurance money comes in for our house I am picking up the Wii, and my girlfriend gave away my birthday present as a 360. But on a more on topic note, no matter what system the KH series will go to, I'm sure it will be a good one, I want to see it for the Wii.

I don't know, as Blu-Ray seems to take more and more market space, the PS3 keeps getting better and better in terms of a deal.

I lately find myself constantly switching between playing my PS3 and Wii. So I like to think that I'm getting the most out of both of my systems right now. And for the next couple of months they're both gonna be alot of fun.

Just popping in to say that I am now a member of the PSWii camp, and actually have been one for over a month. You see, the very day I made my last post in this thread about wanting a 60GB PS3 and not being able to find one--I found one, and promptly bought it. So for the last month I have been thoroughly enjoying the capabilities of my PS3. I've been downloading demos, trailers, PS1 games (via the very convenient Wi-Fi; sorry 20GB owners), I play my PS2 games via hardware-based compatibility, I bought Assassin's Creed and Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and plan to buy Rock Band soon, and I've been watching Blu-rays and upscaled DVDs. Coupled with my TV's innate 120Hz motion filter, Blu-ray movies are sheer orgasmic joy. Not to mention the PS3's standard DVD-upscaling is so good that I actually returned my standalone upscaling player. Is the PS3 worth it? Especially now that HD-DVD is officially dead . . . . heyeah. Now, back to watching Casino Royale on Blu-Ray . . .

It just seems like the biggest turn off towards the PS3 was the price. Too much money for too little content. Now that the library has jumped up a bit in recognizable games, more and more people are starting to get into it.

Now that Blu-Ray has won the format was, all aspects of NOT buying a PS3 are gone. PS3 will see rocket sales form here on in I think.
I know I will buy one as soon as I get my money.

I still don't think so, the only reason people would buy a BluRay player is if they have an HDTV, and a lot of people just don't understand the concept and will stick with DVD.
BluRay may have won the battle, but it's a long way off from winning the war.

It will come into fashion in a couple of years, just give people time to upgrade their wares, i didn't get a dvd player till 2004-2005, we were one of the later ones, but dvds were around before 2000 weren't they?

It's a whole different ball-game down here in Holland. Stores barely sell SDTV's anymore. All you see now are huge LCD/Plasma TVs with HDMI support, and a few 15/17'' SDTV's. I think in about a year or so, things will be different.

I think it's really worth it. They already have some awesome games on there, like Metal Gear Solid 4, wich really belongs to everyone's top three list of games, and they have other fantastic games coming out soon like LittleBigPlanet and such.
