They're mad because it was a white guy. That's a really stupid question. As we already stated, rappers refer to chicks as hos all the damn time, and no one seems to care. It has nothing to do with what he said, but just that he was white when he said it.

when he worked in the same building as the stern show, he called robin quivers the "n" word on many occasions. and this wasn't on air or in a joking manner.

This is what truly pisses me off.
We can have freedom of speech, but we can't do what Imus did. Or the entire fucking black community starts to bitch just because he called the girls on the team hoes. I saw on the news just now, so sophisticated black woman going on the thing to talk to the nation about this. It's because she's sophisticated and smart. Her ass doesn't need to be on the news.
