The Legend of Zelda: Acronyms

What follows is a basic guide to the acronyms which you will find within these forums and others in the Zelda Community. New? Confused? Read on.

The Games

LoZ - The Legend of Zelda
        _{(aka THF- The Hyrule Fantasy)}
AoL - Adventure of Link
ALttP - A Link to the Past
LA - Link’s Awakening
OoT - Ocarina of Time
        _{(Also: OoT 3D - Ocarina of Time 3D (for Nintendo 3DS)}
MM - Majora’s Mask
OoA - Oracle of Ages
OoS - Oracle of Seasons
FS - Four Swords
TWW - The Wind Waker
TMC - The Minish Cap
FSA - Four Swords Adventures
TP - Twilight Princess
PH - Phantom Hourglass
ST - Spirit Tracks
SS - Skyward Sword

Note: It is possible (and accepted) on occasions to reduce ALttP, TWW and TMC to simply LttP, WW and MC respectively.

Side-Games
AST - Ancient Stone Tablets (a 2nd Quest for ALttP released on the BS-X system)
LCT- Link's Crossbow Training
Tingle RPG or FP:TRRL: Freshly Picked: Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland

Other Acronyms

These are a few other little things which get batted about from time to time.

B&C - Ball & Chain
HMS- Happy Mask Salesman
HoL- Hero of Legend
HoT- Hero of Time
HoW- Hero of Winds
IW- Imprisoning War
KoRL- King of Red Lions
MS- Master Sword
SW- Seal War (Alternate term for IW)
ToC- Triforce of Courage
ToP- Triforce of Power
ToW- Triforce of Wisdom
ToT- Temple of Time

CD-i- Not an abbreviation, but another console and home to three other (horrific and unofficial) Zelda games. If you feel the urge to address these games, knock yourself out...
FoE- Faces of Evil
WoG- Wand of Gamelon
ZA- Zelda's Adventure

Other

Finally, in accordance with the rules of , I will add the following notes to this thread so no more nastiness of this sort will be seen.
- Ganon not Gannon. No double "n". Although it was present in the opening to LoZ, this spelling has been retconned in all other games to feature Ganondorf and his beast like form Ganon.
- Adventure not Adventures... of Link. As you'll have seen above, AoL stands for Adventure of Link. It was a single adventure, okay?
- Link is the Hero, Zelda is the princess. Newbies confuse this all the time. "Oldies" die a little every time they see it.

If anyone can think of any more terms which they believe should be added to this thread, please post them below and they will be added if need be.

 Also, to help avoid confusion when determining LoZ as a series from LoZ as an NES game, the following abbreviation can be used for the first Zelda:

THF. the Japanese version of Zelda 1, like all the other games in the series, actually carried a sub-title not seen in the states (for whatever reason).  THF stands for "The Legend of Zelda: The Hyrule Fantasy."

It should be noted that many people type LttP, WW and MC rather than ALttP, TWW and TMC.

You can't expect mods to notice everything. This was pinned because it was requested by me to be made. Elzo did a good job so I will keep this one pinned. They both would make great references but like I said...the other one no one asked for it to be pinned and no mods noticed it.

EDIT: I pinned the other thread in the BoM because it had more to do with the timeline anyway.

 Unfortunately, it really has no place in this thread. It's for Zelda terms and titles. I haven't really heard ZEA anywhere in that.

Now, there's the thing. It's your acronym, not one which I've seen widely used by the Zelda Community and thus, like ZEA, will not be making the list.
