Well, I don't actually. Sheryl Crow does.

I have spent the better part of this tour trying to come up with easy ways for us all to become a part of the solution to global warming.

Although my ideas are in the earliest stages of development, they are, in my mind, worth investigating.

I propose a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting.

Ms Crow has also designed a clothing range which features detachable "clothing sleeves" to reduce the wasteful use of paper napkins.

Is she a raving loon or are restrictions on things like toilet paper and paper napkins the answer we've been looking for?

Personally, it doesn't bother me as nine out of ten bathroom trips involve a quick shake. For twosies, I'd probably actually go with the Demolition Man technique which involves three sea shells. Two are used as chopsticks to remove the worst, while a third tidies up the rest.

Actually, there is another, even more economic way of "wiping one's bottom".

1) Take one piece of toilet paper and put your finger through it.
2) Put the little piece you pierced out aside, you will be using this later
3) Wipe your bottom with the finger you pierced the piece of toilet paper with
4) Messy, right? Okay. Now carefully fold the piece of toilet paper together so your finger is clean once again.
5) You're done!
6) Oh wait, almost forgot about the little piece you pierced out before, right?  Well, use that to remove the stuff that ended up under your nails.
7) DONE!!

I read a bunch of suggestions in the Detroit Free Press on Earth day, all of their solutions either were inconvenient(even if true) or expensive.  Getting new heating/cooling systems are extremely expensive and Hybrid cars aren't that much of an improvement over an old fashioned car, and who wants to go on waiting lists and so on?  Some of the suggestions such as ditching gas lawn mowers for push ones are just stupid.  Or maybe we need to fix the cow problem first?  You know, how cows are causing global warning?  What's next?

Energy saving lightbulbs, turning down the temperature of a washing machine, only boiling the water you need in a kettle, not using a car for short journeys, car sharing and use of public transport, turning the thermostat down 1 degree. These are all small changes we could make to help save the environment.

But then my clothes might not be sterile which could result in contraction of illness, perhaps even the generation of a global pandemic like bubonic plague.  Then what's the point of saving the environment if we're all dead?

What about cooking things like pasta that need to sit in boiling water?

What's a short journey?  How much pollution can a "short journey" generate?  What about the time it takes to get somewhere for time=money.

Public transit in many areas stinks, and I hate to be at the will of other people when it comes to reaching a destination.

What if you already keep it low?  Honestly, there's a threshold for this stuff.  You can't just make a blanket statement to tell people to turn down their thermostats regardless of what temperature it is, most people tend to keep it lower due to rising energy costs anyway,.

These are all small changes we could make to help save the environment.

Actually, the term "save the environment" really makes no sense, the environment would still exist even if the polar ice caps melt, it'd just be a different environment.

There is no simple solution so stop looking for one. We're not going to reduce toilet paper use, stop using lights as much, stop driving downtown, or launch ocean water into space because these ideas are either a hindrance, inconvenient, or downright stupid as much of them won't fucking work.

Many big things like the use of fossil fuels or the stopping of pollution might because they are actually big problems that affect the environment in big ways. Wiping my ass with five squares of toilet paper is not going to flood Colorado.
