This is sort of a game.  But not game enough for a trendy game.  If it gets out of hand, I or another mod will close the topic.  Basically, here's how to play.

Pick a religion and defend its supremacy using its own beliefs and tenets.  This cannot be your own religion, i.e. if you are Christian, you cannot pick Christianity.

You must also be mature about this.  Example: You CANNOT say something like "Judiaism loses because they killed Jesus".  Please, keep your defense mature and not attacking of other religions.  However, if you wanted to say something like "God is the Holy Trinity, and God is omnipresent, therefore Jesus, part of the Trinity, is found in every other religion, and as such, everyone is truly a Christian".  Ofcourse, this is a horrible oversimplification, and I beg that you use more mature arguments than that.

The religions/belief systems to be used below are listed.  They are general, so we won't be doing Catholocism or Orthodox Judaism.

-Christianity (Fleamo)
-Judaism
-Islam (The Tao of Bill)
-Hinduism (Twilight Wolf)
-Buddhism(Chibisuke Chan89)
-Confucianism
-Taoism
-Satanism (Hoopla)
-Paganism (Negoogunogumbar)
-Shintoism
-Greek(Reblob192)
-As a note of explaination, Greek is like Zeus and Hades.
-Sikhism (Zim)

Please reply stating the religion you would like to defend, I, or another mod, will update this list up here to keep track of the who's who.

EDIT: Also, if you wish to admit defeat, and or switch sides, feel free to do so.  Every religion must have at least one defender before beginning.  If not eveyr religion has one within three days, then those that don't are eliminated.  If a religion becomes absent of defenders for a period of three days, then it loses.  May the best religion win.

No Agnosticism?  I'll stick with Buddhism, then.  Which I suppose works well, 'cause really, everything is Buddhism if you try hard enough.

I think there should be an atheism at least.  Someone is always on that side in real debates.

Next, I think there should be some opening question to discuss.

Finally, I think I could take Christianity because it's really necessary to have it in a discussion like this and I know it pretty well and I'm one of the closest things this forum has to a nonChristian, but if someone else shows up to take it I'll step to Judaism.

Norse Mythology please.

If I have to pick from the list I'll take Paganism since it is pretty much the same thing but less specific to Germany/Scandinavia.

I'm the man for atheism, though I don't expect any "theological battle" will really serve a purpose...  Anyone who believes in something and has some reason/motivation/state of mind for that belief, he/she is not likely to give that up...

Plus, there's little to be proven about anything.  I just know there's naught out there, so that's that basically...

Yet I find religion to be a fascinating something.  And having great potential of giving people, well, if I must resort to cliché's: power, wisdom and courage ^^

OK 2 points:
1) It's shinto not shintoism
2) Where the fuck is Sikhism, and if you add it gives it to me.

You have to choose a religion which isn't what you believe.  It'll get you thinking about other opinions, broaden your horizons etc.  Make the world a better place.

Some religion from India, sorta Hindu+Islam, but not really.  As always, Wikipedia has the answers.  And just for the record, I'd like to encourage TW to include in his big list o' religions, as it's got more followers worldwide than half of the other's listed there.  That makes it important or somethin', I guess.

You wouldn't be able to defend it anyway?
HS, the object here is not to change beliefs.  It's a forensics exercise of arguing for a side with which you might not agree; i.e. being able to see things from another perspective.

Well I wouldn't want to, at least.  But it's one of those big religious beliefs which should be there.  I want to see [Mongooseman, Keaton, some superchristian person who's actually here] take atheism as much as he would probably delight in seeing my defense of the Lord Jesus Christ.

It's a point of view that I think should be represented in any religious discussion(which is why I tend to lean towards arguing for it myself, despite slight differences in opinion between me and it).

So Shinto, Taoism, Confucianism, and Judaism are eliminated.

Let the great debate begin!

Opening remarks:

First of all, Hinduism is the only religion with the correct concept of time.  Christians argue that God (Brahma) created the world in seven days and rested on sunday.  This is partially true- except the "day" here is a cosmic day.  As a word of explaination for the length of a cosmic day:

Every thousand years, a bird flies over the Mt. Everest carrying in its beak a scarf.  As it flies over, it brushes against the top of the mountain.  The amount of time it takes for the mountain to be worn down is one cosmic day.

Sikhism does not wish to "battle" in this debate as we believe there are many paths to God, the Guru or as you may say prophet Nanak taught us this in the Guru Granth Sahib:

"Some read the Vedas, and some the Koran. Some wear blue robes, and some wear white. Some call themselves Muslim, and some call themselves Hindu. Some yearn for paradise, and others long for heaven.  Says Nanak, one who realizes the Hukam of God’s will, knows the secrets of his Lord and Master."
We believe this as one can never truly know God until they have reached salvation by fighting the five thieves of lust, greed, anger, attachment and pride.
Until then they shall forever be in the cycle of reincarnation.
