Something to be desired...

I started this thread to say what I thought the games went in, but I ended up starting a History of Hyrule, if you will. Seeing as this will be on a bit larger of a scale than I expected, I'll continue to my kind-of-concise history (up until what I think is the last game, probably WW) by updating and bumping. So I present chapter one: Creation.

Quote from: myself, right now
Once upon a time, in a far away place, there was chaos. Everything, and nothing, floating among nothing, and everything. No land, law- or life. Barren. Silent. Unfathomable.

But one time in this timeless world, one day in a place where days cannot be distinguished from each other, across the blinding darkness, there appeared three dazzling, golden streaks. The three points of shining light flew in single file amongst and above the chaos.

Behind the first, a trail of rich, raw, red earth followed. The earth was stable and solid, and the chaos was given order. Rocks fell into place perfectly, coming together to create a flat ground, rolling hills, and towering mountains. But for the sturdy foundation, there was still a deafening silence, and the land was still barren.

Behind the second, a trail of both good, evil, instinct, and philosophy followed. The newly formed earth suddenly wasn't silent. It knew of itself, of its surroundings. It knew how to function the way an earth should. The mountains moved, the hills rolled, and a fierce wind blew over the plains with its newly found vigor and drive. But there was also another law given to the earth, a law for life. But for all the earth's verve, the land was still barren and devoid of life to uphold this law.

Behind the third, a trail of living beings followed. Green flora covered the once arid land. Diverse races of sentience scattered themselves across the earth. The newly formed order could now be observed and protected by these creatures. There was no more disarray, silence, or barrenness. The Earth was complete.

Chapter TWO:

Quote from: me again
Upon seeing the product of their labors, the three Godesses planned to leave Hyrule, but before they did, they wanted to give their children something to aspire to, something to reach for, even in vainly. They housed much of their Golden Power in three shining relics: the Triforce. Din, Goddess of Power, mirrored Hyrule to create the Sacred Realm, where the Triforce would safely reside. Nayru, Goddess of Wisdom, ordered the Triforce to grant the wishes of whomever touches it, so that their children would be able to tap the Power of Gold. Farore, Goddess of Courage, created a gateway between Hyrule and the Golden Land, to be opened when the time was right.

Seeing that their work was finished, the three Golden Goddesses ascended back into the heavens from whence they came. From there, they promised never again to intervene except through the Triforce as wielded by whomever touched it. They watched Hyrule grow and evolve, proud to see their children form civilization.

Good reading.
You captured the creation of Hyrule in a great way.
But is it supposed to be a timeline story?

You write quite well, Plasma!  Appreciation coming your way

Same question as Fluesopp: do you have your own premedidated timeline which will reveal itself in your exposé or...?

I'm intrigued how this one's going to develop. First chapter is simple enough. The creation is about the only part of any timeline theory which is set in stone...

I'm intrigued to see where you'll take this HS. Can't make a random two word post like that without something to back it up.

It was for dramatic purposes only.

Just saying: didn't you, not too long ago, propose the existence of a Fourth Triforce piece, and a corresponding Fourth Goddess?  That would have to find its way into the ontology of Hyrule wouldn't you think?

LMAO. I had a feeling it was going to come down to that actually. I noticed Cap'N Keeta also hinted at a similar theory regarding a Fourth Piece...

For instance it could be the very first in the series and later events caused the life force to fracture into the Triforce (actually... an unrelated idea... what if Vaati's failed attempt to extract the light force from Zelda resulted in an imbalance in it that could only be fixed if it became three balanced triangles...) OR the game could be set post-WW/PH in a world where nobody knows anything about the triforce, ganondorf or the three goddesses - leaving open new directions to be explored in a potential sequel.

I have no objection to people warming to the idea really. Although it is the one which gets shot down most...

Yes, the timeline will follow in the ensuing chapters. Actually, not all the games are really included, just the storylines from some of them seem to make sense to me in the proper order. And thanks for the positive feedback.

New "chapter" (it's really too short to be a whole chapter, but I lack a better word). It's just a little footnote about the Triforce. OoT is next, folks! Stay tuned.
