Before i begin i'd like to state that the way i place the games chronologically is in no way canon and is simply my own beliefs, this text is meant for entertainment and debate purposes only.

Where to begin? The swordsman in Tp has always fascinated me. Many believe that he's the hero of time while some claims that he isn't. Let's pretend for a moment that Nintendo confirms that he is the hero of time and ponder Link's life from Oot to pre-Tp:

As we know Link the young boy goes on a quest and saves Hyrule as the hero of time. He then returns to his own past thus creating a split in the timeline. Eventually he goes on a journey to find Navi but fails in doing so and eventually returns to Hyrule.

From here on Link grows up into a young man and travels the world while honing his sword skills. As he grows older and better he either joins the hylian knights or creates such an alliance(the latter is to be preferred as there are no hylian knights mentioned in earlier games: Tmc, Oot or Mm)

To strengthen the alliance he invents new techniques such as the backslice and helm splitter. However he keeps some abilities to himself to pass on to his descendants(perhaps he knew that a new hero would rise? He states in the game that some of these skills are not just for anyone)

Another theory is that he keeps all the techniques to himself all together, planning to eventually pass them on to "those of his bloodline". However if we take a look at him in Tp:

He wears a knight's armor covered with leaves and with an eye missing. From here we can conclude that his death was not a calm one. He probably died in a battle (like a true hero should) and the leaves symbolize "the boy from the forest".

If he was unable to pass on his skills we are once again directed towards an early and unexpected death. Ea himself once stated in a interview that Ganondorf did something terrible and was sentenced to death.
Link upon returning to his own time (this is canon) warned Zelda about Ganondorf and eventually the king kicked him out. The legend was passed down in the child timeline as well however more of a fairy tale as it never happened.

Now Ganondorf eventually attacks Hyrule with the triforce of power in hand (Link kept the Toc after Oot and thus the other parts would seek the other ones of destiny).

Link now being a father and a retired knight decides to confront Ganondorf but doesn't excpect the Top and perishes by Ganondorf's hand. Now in this era Link would be a very important person for the people of Hyrule and combined with the attack Ganondorf is sentenced to death.

At this point Link has passed down the Toc to his child. Over time however the bloodline of the heroes and the hylian knights grows thin. Ages after Tp Alttp takes place where Link the last of the bloodline(also canon) becomes the new hero.

In Alttp it is stated that whenever an evil emerges a hero is destined to appear from the bloodline of the knights. Starting to see the connection?

However men of valor were quite rare during the Tp era as stated and the hero of time knows that it would be foolish to just pass on the skills to anyone in the bloodline. Enter Tp Link a descendant (it is stated that he belongs to the bloodline) of the hero of time. He is the first one to awaken the Toc and be granted the hero's clothes, that is why the hero of time appears before you and helps you.

I had a lot to say and i've probably forgot to bring up half of the stuff i wantetd to mention and therefore i welcome debates and questions so that more things can be answered. Feel free to discuss the Hero of time and the bloodline here as well.

I hate to be a killjoy here, but there's already an active thread going on about that...

=http://www.thehylia.com/forums/heros_spirit-t2357.0.htmlHero's Spirit, also in the Book of Mudora...

Must say that was a good job creating backstory on the Hero and the sacred moves...  Again we find that fanfics and theories are not necessarily worlds apart...

I knew about that one but this one is not only about the hero's spirit but also the bloodline. Secondly i thought it would perhaps be best if i didn't make a single reply as huge as that since it gets sort of deep.

Anyway thanks for the compliment

This thread deserves some more replies I say.  What does everyone think about the bloodline of the Hero?  How many descendants were there, who was the first, and how did this lead up to TP and the latter games?
