Prime 2 offered minutes of fun, but when you have friends that have say Halo 2, there's really no point in playing Prime 2's multiplayer mode.

Yes, but all of my friends and I are Nintendo purists, the best type of gamer there is.

Biggest revolution in FPS gaming since Halo!

Yep. Time for a thread kicking. According to Joystiq, Play magazine reveals the following:

- On the first level you're attacked on a spaceship while meeting the captain. A boss fight with Ridley concludes the stage. The second level is a floating city with a strong emphasis on exploration.
- Motion controls work better than dual joysticks.
- Super sensitive pointer in "advanced" mode.
- Backtracking makes more sense than in previous Prime installments.
- To switch visors, hold "minus" and flick the Wii remote in a direction.
- As in Super Metroid, Samus' beams can be stacked.

And finally...
- The game's long delay was to add a "Twilight Princess level of polish".

Not too keen on that last point considering how TP worked out, but everything else sounds good.

I think Metroid Prime 1 & 2 are so different that these games shouldn't be compared to Halo.

Can't wait for this game to come out (but i know i have to).
My greatest worry about the "multiple planets" thing is that it could turn out like Metroid prime hunters single player...but part of me doubts it.

Here's hoping for a great game

This game's looking awesome so far! Too bad it doesn't come out until after school starts...

Both Samus's and Dark Samus's new suits look very cool. Hopefully Dark Samus's appearance won't deteriorate in this game like it did in Metroid Prime 2.

I didn't notice that before. I hope they fix that before the game comes out.

My only hope for this game is that it isn't linear. I want another Metroid Prime and I hope Retro Studios can deliver.

Well they said they were keeping back-tracking and would make it make more sense(I assume that means it will be relveant to the plot) but please retro dont make me look for 9 or more stupid keys it got old in 2 and will be rertarded in 3.

Backtracking is good, but it's useless if all the areas are linear. Metroid Prime was pretty good in this regard (except for Magmoor Caverns) as all the areas had multiple places to go.

However with the multiple planets in this game I'm worried about the linearity. Landing on a planet will probably happen in one place every time, so you can't enter the area in multiple places like the elevators in the original. It also means the areas won't be as interconnected. I liked that you could go through different areas and get to different places in different ways.

For example you can go to the Phazon Mines before going through Phendrana for the Gravity Suit and the Pirate Frigate by going down the elevator near the Ice Beam.

This could be fixed IF it works like

Planet one--->Planet 2<---Planet 3

If you go from planet 1 to planet 2 you land on the far left side and rom plane 3 to planet 2 the far right side.
'

I also hope you can vist half the planet from the start only to die on most until you upgraed or something.

The box looks kinda lame, like someone sat down for about five minutes with Photoshop and slapped it together.

It does look pretty weak. And I've seen better Photoshopped attempts elsewhere online. Still, the cover art isn't going to make too much of a difference to us eventually, right? We do all stack our games side on...

I'm pretty sure the Varia Suit will play a role in the game somehow. It always does.

Someone logged onto Joystiq earlier...

I just sat and looked at my copies, and the boxart, of Prime 1 and Prime 2 and there is nothing particularly mind blowing about either (click the links and see), but both appear to trump Corruption's cover.

Too many Samus's, too posy, and as the professionals might say "generally blech"...
