Lowering the water level to zero again?  That'd be in the room where you first met Ruto.  The one with the two torches and the closed door.  The next water changing point is in the tower in the middle, entered via the door on the basement floor.  The third point can be accessed from the main tower by using the Scarecrow's song (or just go in the door leading to it).

Now for the key, I'm guessing it's the one for which you need to push a block all the way through so you can get to the other side, no?

If not, why not read one of the walkthroughs on GameFAQ's?

I did try to help first...

You don't need to light those torches to lower the water level, lad.  I think it's just the map in that room.

You need to just swim all the way up to completely lower the water level.  The rest I've already said in the previous post...

To open the door to get to the triforce symbol you need to lower the water level.

Heh. It's not just me who had the sudden inexplicable urge to revisit OoT this week then? I'm headed for the Water Temple first thing tomorrow morning, so this thread is beautifully timed.

Although chances are I may still have some woes. Water Temples are the eternal thorn in my side...

This is what I do. Just follow that and the water temple will be no trouble at all.

Wow. That's a pretty sweet run. Dunno if I want to pull it all off in 8 minutes though...  I like a nice deep exploration. Even if it comes with headaches....

Was quite amused by the cut scene meeting Ruto as Link keeps on swimming.

Just noticed in the comments, is this true...?

Probably not. I'm not sure though I'll have to test it sometime.

Just so it's known, I nailed it in just over half an hour which is exceedingly good by my standards. Seemed a heck of a lot easier this time around.

The Water Temple can be your best friend, and speedy, smooth dungeon, if you carry out one crucial step before you do anything else. Make sure you push the block on the first floor as far as it will go as soon as you enter the temple. Then it's linear from there on! At least, in my experience...

That run is very impressive, but there is no chance in hell I would ever want to do that. *likes facing Dark Link*

It really is...

I remember my first couple of times, when I had to change the water level several times because I'd always miss some chest.  There's really no need to be changing the water level around that much.  I think you need to do the cycle only twice: once for starters, to clear the bottom floor and go up as you go, and the second one to go back to the places you couldn't reach before (without the Longshot or without proper keys).

You really just have to make sure you visit every 4 compass directions at a given water level to see what you can do there.  It's only confusing if you let it be...

You don't even need all the keys. What will make your life suck is trying to get around the back of the block on the bottom, only to realize that you can't pull it far enough! I ended up spending a few hours trying to figure out what to do, seeing as the block has to be pushed/pulled from three different directions.

You do need all the keys in the normal version, but there's a spare key in the MQ version of it.  LA's Key Cavern all over again.

... And yeah, that puzzle was kind of annoying if you realised you were standing on the different side.

No, I think one of the keys only leads to the compass or map or something.

I don't believe that for a second!

You definitely need all the keys!

I could've sworn... Am I just screwing it up with MQ? The water temple there was was insanely easy, took only, like, fifteen minutes. As opposed to the derned Dodongo's cavern...

MQ Water Temple really is much easier.

Dodongo's Cavern: not so much...

Quite the chore, that.
