Alright, here we go! We're gonna have ourselves a little art competition, in the manner of our forefathers!

Rules
1. No plagiarizing. This is a given, but it's got to be said.
2. The art can't be previously completed. You may have started it before the contest began, but you can't have distributed it or released it prior to now. This time around, this will be hard to enforce with no specific subject for the art, but try to stick to this, and do the art specifically for this contest.
3. No art will be accepted after the deadline. If your post date with the submission shows a date after the one we announce, it will not be judged.
4. Any media can be used. Computer-aided, hand-drawn, painted, sculpted... heck, you could even make a Hyrule Castle model out of earwax as far as I'm concerned.
5. Judges get three choices. The best is worth three points, their second favorite earns two, and the third is only worth one. Naturally, the one with the most points wins.

Subject
Give us something that defines the Zelda series as a whole. Try not to make it too game-specific.

1. Plasma
2. ShadowCat
3. EzlosApprentice

2. Korenshei

10. AxelCross

12. WingedAnubis

*requests the final judges spot*

I might give the actual arty side a shot next time, but my skills are crap compared to most of the content in the HM...

Heh, I knew the judge spots would go fast. Now it's time to get some contestants. Don't hesitate to join if you feel the slightest urge...

Is that deadline for registering or the actual art?

Shadow is beating me out every time! But, yeah, it's for the art. You can register any time before the deadline.

Well, I wasn't sure, but I figured it would've been.  I just let you handle it so there wouldn't be any confusion.  =)

It might be better if you get a specific subject for a number of reasons, the biggest is it gives the contestants an idea of what to actually do, the second is it gives the judges a better idea of what to judge.

A specific subject... how about a battle scene?

Or Link in a powerful pose or something...

Well, I didn't want to complicate things, and I wanted as large a registry as possible. I suppose we could think of one if everyone supports the idea.

I propose "The Essence of Zelda". Present us with an image that defines the franchise or a specific game.

Thoughts?

How about different catagories? One could be 'Best theme of franchise', another could be 'best battle scene', and so on.

This is the first contest though and we do want to keep it simple... One theme/category only is simple...

How about just one category, not too specific, but keep it narrow enough for the contestants to fall between the lines on it.   Maybe the judges should contemplate on the category for the art, and maybe push the deadline back?  I'd say till about July 1.

First, it should have something to do with the art itself, like colored or not colored, how broad it is, are the angles and viewpoints correct, shading and all sorts of that stuff.

You people may never want me to judge again.  I won't judge on anatomy myself because even I can't do it correctly.  Just try to be correct as possible.
