We all knew it was coming. As Reggie says, Mario Kart for Wii starts burning rubber, online in the first quarter, next year!

And how are they controlling it...? With a steering wheel peripheral. A Wii Wheel, if you will. Just for the newbs though, since Reggie speaks of a variety of control choices. Remember some of these? Maybe, just maybe we'll see some of our own suggestions... I'm still hoping for a setup which features classic analog stick steering with the Nunchuk...

It's a Wh-ii-l...?

So, here is your official Mario Kart Wii thread. Since the previous one was dedicated to the control scheme more than anything. Let's talk characters, weapons, tracks, kicking each others arses, etc. And of course... What do you think of that there wheel? I'm praying it's a freebie...

Reggie said it's included.  He also says there's more racers, how many more?  Stay tuned.  I think he was referring to how many players, I'm guessing as many as 16.

Included, but hopefully still at no extra charge, right? I doubt very much that I'll use the thing unless it adds a whole heap of comfort to the experience.

Double Dash was a delight to play, but there are certain games within certain series which should remain unique. I've played the arcade version of MK and that feels quite special, so if MK: Wii can replicate that experience it's all good.

Speaking of the arcade version, MK: Wii had better have lots and lots of weapons now.

Wow that’s great news.
I knew there would be a "Mario Kart Wii" just it was only a matter of time before it got announced.
I can't really add much to contribute but that's great news
Its being released in early 2008.

God that looks gay.

What's with the different 'Karts'? I guess I'll just stick with Mario Kart 64...

Haven't played Mario Kart in a while Witless?
Both Double Dash and Mario Kart DS had karts like this.

(And Witless wonders why he got my--um, er, someone around here's--vote for "Most Pessimistic." )

Wow, we have screen shots now! I can't even wait. I've already told my one Mario Kart friend that she'd better be prepared for me to crush her. And if the Wheel is coming with it, that's even better news. I'm also glad to see a return to the traditional single-person kart fashion of driving. DD was fun, but I felt that the two-person kart scheme was a bit cumbersome at times.

I wonder if we'll see any Galaxy-only drivers in this game? Perhaps as unlockables? (Nevermind the fact we don't know of any Galaxy characters yet....)

And they were very, very nice indeed. I wouldn't mind also working with basic Kart shells and being able to customise them this time around, but perhaps I'm just getting greedy...

This might very well become my most favorite Mario Kart game.  All of them got better as time went on and this looks like no exception to the rule.  I liked Double Dash but I will enjoy going back to the old style.

Awesome, of course.  Wasn't expecting it to surface already.  I just hope we'll get it before Brawl, as that's been postponed for Europe

Also, I will need to play through MK DS to fully appreciate all the levels.  Mario Kart is always multiplayer madness guaranteed, in a different way than SSB, but still, something I wouldn't want to be living without

Smash Bros being delayed in Europe is such a joke. There's barely any text in it!
Mario Kart this year for Europe is not going to happen.

Oh yeah.

Read about that and completely forgot to mention it here. So long as 16 people doesn't mean 4 people using 4 different Wiis (they wouldn't, would they?) it'll be perfect.

Not sure how to take the "stunts" idea, but every Kart game needs its quirky special feature I guess.

ONM should sometimes watch what they write... The Wii's rechargeable docking bay, Tingle's March release date, and now...

Quote from: Official Numpty Magazine
The details printed in Official Nintendo Magazine 21 regarding Mario Kart Wii were healthy speculation on our part and are in no way an official announcement from Nintendo. We are sorry if we have mislead anyone. We do not set out to mislead our readers. ONM apologises profusely for any misunderstandings that this has caused.

Of course, they could've just blabbed too early...

Double post? So sue me...

lol I loved how they even used the phrase "Or the fact that..." in that issue, too. Then it turns out it was just "speculation"? Lawl.
