Mario Paintball would actually be pretty fun if they did it right.

Basically your classic run-of-the-mill FPS game but with Mario characters. Slayer-esque matches, Capture the Flag... it'd be awesome.

Ooooh, I'm starting to like this now! It's like 007 and Halo...meets the Mario universe!

God that looks hideous. Do they expect me to sit/stand with that thing in my hand? Why the hell couldn't they just made something that looks remotely like a real (hand)gun.

New shots of the thing have surfaced at Kotaku. Can't say I'm not looking to keep you covered, S_L.

According to their covering report, the Zapper falls into a category of hardware which I tend to call Marmite-Tech. People either love it or hate it. I can potentially see where both parties are coming from.

On the "love it" side, you have got a rather spiffy looking piece of kit which will provide a different feel to some FPS's. On the other side, you have those who think it's not so spiffy, it's got a cheap and plasticky feel and will just restrict gameplay rather than ehance it.

Kind of hard to pin down my feelings on this one now. Especially since the trigger at the base of the Zapper is a loose connection to the B trigger on the underside of the Wiimote and so doesn't sound like it could be as responsive as some may think... Or as I first thought...

Still, if they do announce a Mario Paintball game with the Zapper included, that's a guaranteed sale to me.
