what do you think? I personally think the man has some nice points, but he forgot about reputation. I think this plays a key factor in determining sales as well since not everyone will be informed of all the specs Wii has so they will rely on friends and others.

I think this console war will go to 360 or Wii. Ps3 as it shows right now, is falling behind and its reputation for being an expensive console isnt a good one while the Wii is apprently getting much better rep than bad rep and this is, like the article author says, is because of innovation. Everyone is saying they love the fun factor and that is what will ultimately get people to buy wii. It's about time Nintendo gets back into being the #1 game console, let's hope its the Wii that does so.

Why do you think the Wii will suceed or fail?

sorry people, its a blog. my mistake

I really hope sony drops out this time. Because here is how I see it. Sony drops out due to lack of interest in ps3. Microsoft backs out due to the only reason they were in it was to keep the playstation from becoming a multimedia system capable of competing with the pc like it already is becoming. And Sega decides it's safe to come out again and releases the dreamcast 2

EDIT: also it should be mentioned that this is NOT an article. This is a blog. There is a difference. This is very opinionated and kinda biased as well.

hehe xD dreamcast 2 eh. I think it would just be safer for sega to produce top notch games and keep quiet from console wars. first one was severely underrated -_-

Lol nice theory on the M$ participation, and makes a lot of sense too.

just saw several videos of people played wii sports xD hilarious and ridiculous, but they are seriously enjoying it(as u can see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O39ZcdK_4U8 )

OMG THE DREAMCAST 2!!111!!!   That would be awesome!   Dreamcast rawked.

About the blog, I think that the Wii WILL win the war this year.  Not only due to its low price compared to the mini pcs made for gaming (xbox360/ps3... gonna spend that kinda $$ just buy a pc people, sheesh)  and more Wii systems are available than the ps3.  But the Wii is just so gosh darn neat.  The whole idea of swinging a remote around and it doing things on the tv.. I just takes me back to the years growing up playing the Nes with a light zapper.  Playing duckhunt and other games, reminds me of the power glove, (hard to find but pretty nifty.) and the God awful U-FORCE!!!  LOL  Sure it was fun for like...a day.. but it was still pretty neat!  Oh and the powerpad!  who could forget that.  Yea.. I think people of any age can identify with the Wii.  Kids can learn old  games with the VC.  People in their 20s can relive some of their childhood memories with a name they grew up with.  And even old folks!  Why not!  Get those people out and give them a wiimote!  have'em break a lamp or 2 in their living room.  Its good fun!  :D

so yea, thats my take on it.  Shortly sumed up in l337 gamer terms.

Wow Wii sure has taken the spotlight though dont you say? News on the net and tv all compliment the wii

The thing im worried about is the next gen after this xD what will nintendo go to next? upgraded wii? or just a more enhanced control and gameplay for sensor. I guess i shouldnt be too worried since M$ and Sony should be the ones panicking about what to do next

edit: yea sorry , it was a blog.

If there was lack of interest in the PS3, people wouldn't have gotten robbed/shot/beaten/pushed.

Wait untill the next PS3 shipment, and we'll see how things fall into place.

Yeah, scalpers really are the scum of the earth and will do anything to get those extra dollars on ebay.

I used to collect Marvel action figures and I'd hear stories about how they'd do dick things for an extra $10 per figure. Can you possibly imagine how dick they'll be when we're talking an extra $1400 or so?

Regardless, I think that the Wii will definitely win here. At the very least they'll win when it comes to profits.

Oh yeah. Anyone aside from me and NH notice that dwrior hasn't been back since the PS3/Wii launch weekend? Anyone think it's cause he doesn't want to come face the facts that he was dead wrong and Wii > PS3?

I know this is a common argument, but it's one of the most flawed and stupid arguments out there, LLR. The answer is simply "Because of the games." So many of the PS3 games won't be on PC, or 360, and almost definitely not Wii. So the only way to play them, and believe me, customers are dumb enough to fall for this, is to buy the PS3. Companies are possibly to dumb to think that if we don't buy these games, try releasing them on a different system; they'll just think that we're bored of the series or didn't like the game.

As one of these "scum of the earths" you are talking about I feel the need to defend myself. The only way I could ever afford the wii was by selling an extra one on eBay. I have other things to pay for. Also I do not consider this scalping. Because in most cases scalpers do little work. They get stuff online with little effort and post it online after it's been sold out. I waited in line for 10 hours in freezing cold weather. I put work into it and I deserve to get paid for that work. I consider it being paid to stand in line for someone.

Unless it drives them to bankruptcy, there is no way, after all the glory they've tasted, that Sony will ever drop out of the game industry. Sony is committed for life, and if they indeed don't do so hot this generation, they will do what Nintendo has been doing for the last 9 years and keep trying again until they get it right.

I only worry if there would still be good games available for the Wii until they make the next console. What if the gimmicks die down? Hopefully, it would follow the DS's steps: good games for newbies and hardcores would come out even as the years go by. Personally I think it would be a neck-to-neck with Wii and PS3 when more consoles for both are way available.

Rawr, if you're not a douche bag that's sole purpose of buying a Wii is to make a profit, then you're not a scalper. Scalpers are the ones who aren't doing this to afford other things, they're doing it so that they have a monopoly on the items and end up making a profit off of the item for the sake of making a profit. So no, you're not a scalper. What you did wasn't scalping.

Scalpers are heartless bastards that exploit how desperate some parents become at christmas time and markup prices to excessively high amounts knowing that people will pay them just to shut their whining little brats the **** up.
