Well, here we are at last. After nine months (seriously!), the moment we've all been waiting for has arrived. With 40 complete scorecards submitted, it's safe to say that TDLoZRT was a huge success and something I'm quite proud of. This morning I counted and recounted the scores and the final results look a little (well, exactly) like this...

Last Place: Four Swords (GBA) 53 pts
12th Place: Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES) 114 pts
11th Place: Four Swords Adventures (GC) 125 pts
10th Place: Oracle of Ages (GBC) 168 pts
9th Place: The Legend of Zelda (NES) 194 pts
8th Place: Oracle of Seasons (GBC) 195 pts
7th Place: Link's Awakening (GB) 235 pts
6th Place: The Minish Cap (GBA) 240 pts
5th Place: The Wind Waker (GC) 334 pts
4th Place: A Link to the Past (SNES) 341 pts

3rd Place: Twilight Princess (GC/Wii) 366 pts
2nd Place: Majora's Mask (N64) 367 pts
1st Place: Ocarina of Time (N64) 388 pts

Yes, Ocarina of Time really is the greatest Zelda title of all, claiming 14 1st places in people's charts and 12 2nds. Even 2 Last places from Geography and Manashima couldn't keep it down.

Second place was a hotly fought spot throughout, and MM really did just manage to hold off TP by one point. One more scorecard could've easily flipped things. Much like the contest for best handheld title. Just five points kept LA and TMC apart. But how will these two fair against PH next year? Being described by many as the best handheld title ever, some might even say it can go so far as to beat OoT. Boy, next year could be fun.

Thanks again to everyone who took part, this definitely wouldn't have been the same without you, and I hope you'll all be back next year for The Definitive Legend of Zelda Review Thread: Volume II!

How exciting!  I am a little surprised, however, that WW didn't get higher than 5th place under AoL.  Thanks for compiling that EA.

TMC wasn't as good as the other handheld games, and MM and LttP should be switched, but otherwise I'm really happy about the results.

Sage of Light? Perhaps so. Sage of Darkness? Never

*Despises OoTs spot, will always despise it now because of overratedness".

I apologize for giving TP 12 points, and MM only 11, when it deserves 12. Next year things will be different. PH is OK right now, but LA is still pwning it. About as easy as TWW(dammit). But it's OK.

I like it. I do think that ALTtP should be third though.

Vaati was rising again, so Link came to the Four Swords Sanctuary. He pulled the Four Sword out, and out shot the three copies. Link was about to tell them to hurry up when he realized they were GIRLS. WHAT?!" he shrieked. The girls looked at him funny. Then Purple Linka spoke up. "Sitting in that sword has made made me thirsty. Who's up for a root beer float?" she said. All the Linkas nodded vigorously."You, where can we get root beer floats?" said Blue Linka, pointing at Link. Link screamed. "WHY ARE YOU GIRLS?!? YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE BOYS! I CAN'T DEFEAT VAATI WITH A BUNCH OF GIRLS!!" Then Vaati swooped down. Link fell to his knees. "Mercy... Have mercy..." he begged. The three Linkas rolled their eyes, leapt over him, and stabbed Vaati to death. They clinked their swords and whooped."I wonder if we're the real ones, and he's fake?" said Red Linka. "I'll test." she put the Four Sword back in the pedestal. Link disappeared, screamin

Why wasn't I suprised to see the results? I think we have gotten, if not the list, we have got a list that very much describes the awesomness in each game.
EA, do you have a excel sheet or something that you used to calculate it? I can make some neat graphs and other stuff to illustrate things.

Wow, TP and MM in a near-tie. Strange because we knew that very different types of fans were voting for those two!

I don't know where else to put this, so here's as good a place as any other: I think for the next DefRev thread, we should have 14 entries--i.e. all 14 main titles in the series. I think the other two spin-offs, Tingle and Crossbow, should be included as bonuses or extras or something. But I don't think they should be in the main part of the voting. Reason being is that Tingle doesn't have Link or any of the other main characters, has no discernible place in the timeline, and may not even be in the same narrative universe. That and it's not even available in North America. Likewise, Crossbow Training (in all likelihood) will have nothing canonical in it, being nothing more than an extended mini-game.

But yes, congratulations to Ocarina. Next year, Awakening better overtake Minish!

Actually, all counting and calculating was done by hand over two days (since I lost my original sheet). Printed the entire thread on Wednesday. Counted, re-counted, re-re-counted, checked, double checked and triple checked Thursday and Friday.

I could probably put all the numbers into a spreadsheet, but... Ya know, effort. I'm sure you could do some pretty things with those numbers that are up there already though.

Voting for next time...

I am beginning to think that Tingle and LCT could/should be left out, mainly because they're even more likely to fall into "The Four Swords Trap" (Haven't played it, can't give it points).

Can't say I'm surprised to see OoT at the top. It was to be expected.

I'm delighted to see MM up there in second place, but I'm a bit disappointed at WW being fifth. And I won't even start with TP...

Anyway, thanks for counting the points EA. Had been expecting the final results for quite a while.

No surprises that OoT came first. I wouldn't be surprised if the next time there is a Definitive review thread, people will give it a zero to stop it coming first.

I'm glad to see that Majora's Mask finished so high up the rankings: it seems to grow in esteem every year (although that may be due to the fact that it isn't another retread of the Ganondorf-Link-Zelda scenario and injects some new ideas). Same with TMC - it ended up doing much better than I expected.

Twilight... will probably drift down the rankings in the coming years I reckon.

Anyway, thanks for tallying up all the rankings EA. Even with the help of the 'Excel Spreadsheet of death' it must have taken ages.

Fun & fabolus facts for friendly fine Fluesopp followers
    by Fluesopp
I did not get the same results, why, I don't know, but I saw Quijo deleted his post, so I cannot recieve his score.. Too bad. I also think I use more voters than EA.. 41 in total, while EA might

Well, my scores, not sure if this is right, is:

OoT - 400
MM - 375
TP - 377
LttP - 350
TWW - 344
TMC - 247
LA - 238
OoS - 197
LoZ - 197
OoA - 173
FSA - 131
AoL - 112
FS - 57

And now the fun facts:
The game with most votes on one point is FS, with 21 votes on 0 p.
Behind, on the seccond place we find OoT with 15 votes for 12 p.

The only games that didn't get a 0 p vote was TP and TWW. In fact, TWW's lowest vote was a 4 p vote. The person that gave it a 4 p was Super Ganny.
On the other half, FS highest ranking was a 8 p vote from Geography. AoL's highest was a 9 p from none other than TheSilentBilbo.

Another notable thing is that when speaking of 12 p's, TP actually beat MM with 10 votes, over MM's 9.
TWW got 1 first place, and 11 thirds, while LttP got 6 first and 12 fourth.

All in all, the total sum of points given in this game is 3198 points, which is a huge number. Actually, 3198 is 110001111110 in binary, which is perfectly explainable as you have 3 zero's grouped, 1 zero alone, 9 numbers left if you remove the first 3 zero's and 8 1's. Binary is simple. You just have to be imaginable.

Fluesopp out.

PS: I have a excel sheet, in 2007 format, if some is interested

PPS: I do not garantee that the results are right, so don't blame me

PPPS: Thanks to EA for a fantastic thread

Final Thought: Zelda Rules

Final Tought PS: I must stop using lame portal jokes in my posts.

Switch OoT with MM, then OoT (now in second) with TWW, and it's sort of maybe right.
