Supposedly, screens for Sonic Unleashed(the new trademarked Sonic game) have been revealed to the world ahead of schedule:

Information here

According to the source it will be set for all three platforms:

See here

Quote from: 1UP
* The game is largely 2.5D, meaning it uses 3D visuals but is played primarily on a 2D plane (so it'll likely feel more like the Sonic games of old).

Here's the part I don't like:

Sonic is set to morph/transform into some sort of monster(looks like a warewolf given that first picture), the wolf gimmick was so 2006.

Anyway your thoughts?  Either the most elaborate hoax in gaming history or a major leak.

I really don't like the monster-Sonic idea. I'd rather take Super Sonic, for nostalgias sake. I never felt Super Sonic get old because with most modern Sonic games, you get to play as SS at the end. Like SA1, SA2, SH. But the games of old like Sonic 2 allowed SS by getting the 7 Chaos Emeralds and 50 rings if I can remember. Although I don't fully believe it yet, I'd rather not play as that..thing. Its just..not Sonic.

I never could get into these newer sidescrolling Sonic games.  This one doesn't look too different from those according to the trailer, except for the addition of Sonic the Hedgehulk.

Sonic the Hedgehog returns for a full-blown, action-packed adventure through the desolate and unpredictable World of Mubuz, a world dictated by an evil Dragon Lord, Immarius. Upon entering Muboz, Sonic fights an evil power which turns all the inhabitants into dangerous beasts.

Become Wolf Sonic and fight enemies like never before using rapid combo maneuvers and Ring Energy
Play as Sonic, Knuckles or Tails through 12 packed stages
Extensive 2D gameplay brings the old Sonic back home

As it should be. No Blaze,Rouge,Big,Shadow or silver just Knuckles sonic and Tails.

But sonic who is a Hedghog turns into a wolf? Ok, I had my doubts before but now I defiantly know that sega only hires furries now.

Edit:

OLD MOAR!

First, we apologize for our fault to post those fake news about the Sonic plot and the confirmation that it would be 2D, gameplay-wise. However, we go on with our own new facts: SEGA is launching SONIC UNLEASHED with a HUGE production budget and it seems not only SONIC TEAM is involved but a very huge part of SEGA’s developer teams including those from Japan, the US and, apparently for the first time, even Europe. There seems to be one clear mission: Rebuild the Sonic brand and prove it could work in 3D environments. We also have one new artwork for you.

MOAR!

The following is fact:

1. All assets leaked over the weekend belong to one game: Sonic Unleashed.
2. All assets could be found on SEGA’s FTP, but everything’s got deleted as of now.
3. SEGA plans to show Unleashed at some Gamer’s Day event in May.
4. Unleashed is currently scheduled for a worldwide release in November, right for Christmas.
5. The original screens are very high-res and show no indication of “Photoshopping”.
6. As you can see, Unleash will take place in 3D environments.

This is speculation:
1. There is no info about the plot and the actual gameplay. A press info that appeared on the net came to life in some Sonic Fanboy’s mind.
2. The platforms for Unleashed are currently unknown, but it is expected to launch on all three platforms.
3. A possible confirmation by SEGA towards SEGA ON is also pure speculation.

One thing is for sure: The Sonic Hype is in full swing.

Yeah, I'm a huge Sonic fan. To be honest, I actually enjoyed a good bulk of Sonic's 3D games.
But the music in that trailer was annoying. The visuals do look spectacular though.
The game is also actually being released for all platforms. So far, only the 360 and Wii versions have been confirmed, but I'm guessing it'll be for the PS3 as well.

Sonic is officially some kind of mutant blue Saiyan.

Super Sonic is gold and he can turn into a big wolf monster? Please.

That's not 2006. That's 1984.

Honda's men are no longer Street Fighters. They see this as a Mortal Kombat, and they have the Killer Instinct. If you do not help your friends, this may be their Final Fight. . . Clayfighter.

Got some details in from neogaf. It's stuff covered in the ONM article. Here are the highlights:

- Screenshots of the Wii version basically identical to what we have seen on the net of the game so far
- Wii version described as "Shiny next-gen visuals"
- The werewolf Sonic sections are "slightly slower, yet a more agile beast" than the ordinary Sonic sections
- A one page interview with the games Lead Designer, Yoshihisa Hashimoto. Describes the game as no relation to Secret Rings or original 360/PS3 Sonic title- "more in common to Sonic Adventure titles".
- Yoshihisa says that as well as the Wii Remote "players will also be using the Nunchuck"
- They admit to the leaked footage but claim to have been shown more than what has already been leaked.
- They confirm the whole game is definitely not on rails like Secret Rings, even for the 3D parts.
- Positive reactions to gameplay and camera from 'hands-on' experience.
- Confirm that Sonic Unleashed is being developed by Sonic Team Japan and is not spread out between production teams as some sources claim.
- Sonic and 'Were-Sonic' are split into two levels, day and night respectfully. Sonic has normal high-speed running and jumping and Were-Sonic is slightly slower and more agile. Sonic dodges past obstacles whereas Were-Sonic manhandles them out of the way and can toss enemies around, plus his overly-long arms let him traverse the levels by swinging instead of running 'in an almost Donkey Kong feeling at times'.
- Were-Sonic is confirmed as NOT being evil but simply being a hulk version of Sonic.
- According to ONM what they have seen so far of the two different gameplay styles they have melded together nicely.
- They have been informed that Tails and Amy 'pop up' but suspect other regulars such as Knuckles and Shadow may creep in as well.

---

Interview with Yoshihisa Hashimoto breakdown:

- Great adventure all around the world. Various new action systems and new abilities.
- Project started planning to create Sonic Adventure 3 and in the developers minds the game will have more in common with the Adventure games. No relation to Sonic 360 or Secret Rings.
- Trapped by Dr. Robotnik's evil plan, the power of the chaos emeralds is misused and something changes in Sonic's body.
- Nunchuk is included in the control method this time.
- Three new moves include Sonic Boost (by collecting rings, Ring Energy will fill up, which you can use to dash through the course at high speed), Sonic Drift (players will be able to take a short turn at any sharp curves while running through the course) and Quick Step (when running in high speed with an obstacle ahead, players will be able to move left or right rapidly). Other actions will be revealed later.

Omygodohmygodohmygod this game might just be awesome.

I'm still skeptical of the wolf, but I'd say the rest sounds like a step in the right direction.
