$3.50 Here... its quite the kick in the testes but what can you do. Greedy oil companies trying to make as much bank as possible before they run out of oil or we find an alternative fuel source.

Dubai so far is the only oil based company that is being smart with the money they are making on oil. Cause they know once oil is gone they will have nothing so they are making it into the biggest tourist attraction in the world.

With prices like I've got where I live (they're steadily going up, and they are at least at $3.89 for regular and well over $4 for diesel), $3.50 would be a miracle.

Premium gas recently broke the 4 dollar barrier here in Gainesville, FL.  Regular is still holding tentatively to $3.87-9.  And I drive a Jeep Wrangler.  How much do you think I hate my vehicle right now?

Regular unleaded just reached AUD 1.63 per liter in Melbourne. I'm thanking god for now that I don't own a car.

UK fuel costs updated. We're now so pissed at this we've got websites running around the country to check. (Prices per litre):

Cheapest unleaded: 107.9p (Gateshead)
Most expensive unleaded: 125p (Northampton)
Cheapest diesel: 117.9p (Mansfield)
Most expensive diesel: 138p (Hexham)

I'm working that out as ranging between $8-$11 per gallon...

$4.07 at the local pump.

Again, not like I drive, but still shocking how fast the price of this one good is rising.

Now, I'd be lucky to find regular gas for under $4 (I've seen it for $4.29 around here!)...I even saw diesel fuel for over $5 the other day!

How's that even possible. Diesel is supposed to be cheaper than regular gas.

I know, right?  Diesel is doing the same thing here.  It's almost up to 5 a gallon.  I think it's something like 21 cents away now...

Actually, in the past I've noticed sort of a trend--Gas usually becomes just as much, if not more expensive than Diesel once the Summer gets settled in because of traveling and such. However, the scary part of this is that the reason for the whole price change during the Summer seems to be not because Diesel goes down, but because the price of Gas skyrockets.

And actually, I think in a sense Diesel and Gas are neck and neck for overall price advantage...diesels get overall better mileage, though this tends to show much more in trucks than anything else (for example, I have friends who get over 20 mpg in their diesel trucks, and while I have heard of one gas truck getting a little bit better than that, it's because that truck is very small and light...pretty much all gas trucks that are similar in size to the diesels get from 13-18 mpg at best, and I know a few people who have trucks that get UNDER 10 MPG!). This increase in Diesel mileage (plus the greater longevity of the engines) over Gas offsets the long term cost downward for Diesel.

And as a side note, even though Diesels do put out more particulate and NOx emissions than Gassers do, they put out less Carbon Monoxide and CO2, so they do have a couple of emission advantages. But unless Biodiesel or pure vegetable oil was being used instead of petroleum-based Diesel, I don't think the overall emissions would be lower than gas.

I haven't been out in a while, but last time I checked, roughly 4.10, with deisel at 4.30-4.40ish

I'll have to check out on Costco, as they have way lower prices on their gas than Cheveron or Shell, and pretty much the lowest in the city.

So. Cal is dying here.

Unleaded petrol has just hit $1.71 per liter here - new record. It amazes me that people don't wait to fill up their tanks on the cheap days; I don't know if they forget to or if they don't care, but then they complain about the high fuel prices. Pfft.

Filled up the other day.  $4.09.  Brutal.

Only consolation is my car gets 34 mpg driving mostly city and some highway.

I would say it's around $4.15ish. 43 miles to the gallon though, so it's not that bad in the city.
