Why are so many people saying that the Shadow Temple was scary? Freaky? Sure, but scary? NOT EVEN!
You afraid of anything other people aren't? Theres your reason.

First time I went through the game I had a friend beat it for me. But then again I was eight.  I had nightmares of the redeads and wall masters.

The shadow temple never scared me. it was actually interesting and creapy. Dead hand is one of the creapiest bosses ever, really. As for the topic, I think thats a very interesting idea. it either is somthing simialr to that, or some sort of ancient evil that decided to take a similar form . i find it odd that the one who could see all would be a muscician... lol.

The thought has never crossed my mind before but I am liking this theory to no end .
I find it very likely actually and about the whole musician thing:

It could actually make sense since music has always had much to do with spirituality...they say music is like water for the soul. The fact that Oot revolves around music with magic effects makes it fit in as well.
What I mean is that perhaps this man was a wandering musician who had recieved this gift from the gods and later executed because of this (drawing a parallell to the witch burnings), the Shadow temple itself even hints at an age of ignorance when it goes "Hyrule's past of blood and hatred" or something along those lines.

Kudos to the one on Zeldawiki who thought of this

Yeah those redeads are rather scary(to an extant). Bongo Bongo was a fun boss to fight, but I wouldn't really call him the HARDEST nor the funEST, personally I thought Ganondorf/GANON was the funnest and the hardest would probably be The Water Temple Boss(Mophia?) or Kotake and Kogome(Ganondorf's moms).

Redeads were creepy at first...then I got attacked and now I have nightmares every night .
I agree with you on Bongo Bongo and Ganondorf/Ganon.

The water temple boss is called Morpha btw ...I think Koume and Kotake were slightly harder than Morpha though...none of the bosses were really hard

Man, Miyamoto sure is creative. Actually, this theory does sound quite possible. Maybe they thought that since he knew the truth in everything that he practiced witchcraft or wizardry or something and executed him. Maybe?

Wow, that is believable, one more thing the "shadow spirit" that was sealed in the well could have been the the vengeful hating spirit of the man who could see the truth(<supporting statement)

also when i beat the shadow temple i NEVER encountered the dead hand  at all, so why are people saying that the dead hand is also in the shadow temple?

Are you sure? In order to get the Hover Boots, you must defeat a Dead Hand...were you playing the original OOT or Master Quest?

I love Book of Mudora theories.
As for this one, I believe it's certainly plausible as the clues all point to the theory. I think the theory that Bongo Bongo was Dark Link as he touched your body in the Kakarika Village cut scene is abit daft though.
There’s a lot I miss in Zelda Games
