Agreed. Now, his attacks are really weak and the gale boomerange is as useful as it was in Twilight Princess. (Meaning it sucks.) Also, and I knew I would hate it ever since I read it on the dojo, the charged spin attack really does more harm than good. In melee, it was a super quick, powerful attack that just got people off of you for a second so you could recover and with the added charge it's so delayed it's not even funny.

Link. He's got all his sweet projectiles and sword attacks...using all of 'em to make sweet combinations can be deadly.

Link is still the best for me, he's a untameable beast with thirst for destruction... But yeah he has little downies, though spin attack is still quick for me, and nothing can beat the masterful downward thrust! Ike is good too, he has some pretty powerful blows. |

At the moment it would be Meta Knight, he is quite manouverable and fast, but still packs a bit of a punch, Pit second, i don't like him as much because he doesn't have as many attacking abilities although his flight ability has proved useful...

Toon Link is da bomb. Then Tingle (the mm one) and Olimar. And Lucas. I Pwn with all three of those in brawl. I mainly like Olimar cuz he's a smart brawler, sending people to fight for him...

Lucas and Olimar suck imo, but that's probably cause I don't know how I'm supposed to use them effectively.
My all-time favorite is still Kirby, of course, but with regard to the newcomers Ike is the main shit - in several aspects better than Roy, just slower. Pit is also a force to be reckoned with - nice smash attacks, airborne attacks, speedy arrows you can control, and FLIGHT. Metaknight is a bit underwhelming from what I've seen, and Lucario is a little too much like Mewtwo, but still decent enough.
Also, I forgot Zelda can really kick some ass. Especially if you're playing the Multi-Mans or Classic or whatever mode on the easier settings - nearly all of her attacks have smash-like effects.
And of course DK is still the hard-hitter of choice, good thing using him for some of the more intense challenges of the game.

I played as Ganondorf today, he was sweet he had some nice moves, an up, a down and a charge instead of all this fancy stuff like flying and shields...but he was a bit to slow for my tastes, Captain falcon is a good one, one i liked from the 64 days...

Definately Meta-knight atm once you get used to aiming with his up B and down B attacks he can be quite formidable. i'm finding Pit isn't all that good at all now, i can't hit people off that well and i never use his down B shield...
I started playing multi-player with my bro, boy is it fun, its sweet as to play with other people...

Yeah I have to admit I think Wolf is rather cool. Obviously better than "those other two characters".
But still, not REALLY my style.
I've never found the Links very combat-worthy for long term playing. It's fun to play as them though, but they're not as full of win as some other characters. Like Ike. Even Snake, with all his sneaky explosives lol.

I'm quite annoyed with Toon Link (and the Starfox team), mostly because of their agility. I don't prefer using them. Instead Kirby, my all-time main, and some Pit, Lucario or even Ice Climbers to keep things interesting. I'm also very good with Zelda/Sheik.
I originally thought I'd be using a lot of Ike, but he's just too slow for me - Roy was better. Though I do love his charged flame sword move ... But then I just swallow him as Kirby and that's that.
Also Peach is apparently still quite formidable *cough*, and her FS is underrated. Luigi's is probably still better, and he has some more obnoxious moves, like Pikachu - also still quite formidable an opponent.
