Today, I completed OOT once again (man I love that game). I tried playing the game out of order, and this is how I did it:

-Deku Tree up until slingshot
-Jabu Jabu's Belly
-Hyrule Castle
-Dodongo's Cavern
-Rest of Deku Tree
-Temple of Time
-Shadow Temple
-Forest Temple
-Spirit Temple
-Ganon's Castle

I was surprised to find out that despite the fact that I didn't even enter the Fire or Water Temples, once I finished the Spirit Temple, I got the cutscene with Rauru telling me to go to the Temple of Time. I did, and I got the cutscene with Shiek revealing herself as Zelda. Even weirder, the game still let the sages make the colorful bridge to Ganon's Castle, which let me skip the Water and Fire Temples all together.

Has anybody else ever had this happen to them? Of course, this is the first time I've tried it in this order, so I guess that's why I am so surprised at being able to skip two whole dungeons. On top of this, getting the Zora's Sapphire and Goron's Ruby before I got the Kokiri's Emerald (if you want to know how I did this, just ask and I'll say how) as a kid didn't make the game do anything unusual beyond it saying that the Zora's Sapphire was my second spiritual stone despite it being the first one I actually got. And the Goron's Ruby was my second one, and the game said that I collected all 3 stones. Anybody else ever experience this before?

Never tried playing the game that much out of order. Might be good for a giggle sometime.

That's a pretty good achievement.
How many glitches did you use use to accomplish that?

I'm going to try that!  Now I've seen things like this before..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzU6QT1idFA&feature=related

and

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MonvWqMHRU&feature=related

Which let you make the second dungeon the Desert one.   Perhaps this trick could save even more time by totally skipping 2 whole dungeons!  Great find man!  I've been needing an excuse to go through this game again..  hehehe.

I don't think all of these are glitches, but here are most of the tricks I used:

These aren't in the order I used them, BTW:

-Item switch trick at the Fishing Pond (to get the Golden Scale as a child)
-Cuccoo Jump (to get into Gerudo's Fortress as a child)
-Gerudo Fortress Gate Skip
-Backwalk across the river of quicksand (child Link can't use Hover Boots or Hook/Longshot)
-Crooked Cartridge Trick (to get out of the Forest right after getting the slingshot...I just ended coming back later to get the Kokiri's Emerald, though)
-Seam Walking to get to the Shadow Temple before any other adult Link temple
-Somehow tricking the game by making it think that I beat all the temples when I really didn't 8) haha!

Those are all I remember for now. Also, not only did this little inadvertent shortcut allow me to skip two whole temples and still complete the game, but I also got to skip the Ice Cavern, Gerudo Fortress (quest to save the four carpenters and get the Membership Card, to be exact) as an Adult, the Silver Scale diving game, three warp songs (shadow, fire, and water), and also the mini-dungeons of Ganon's Castle (I used the glitch to skip all of those).

Of course after I did this I looked on YouTube and found that somebody knew how to skip Dodongo's Cavern and Jabu-Jabu's Belly! Unfortunately I can't find the link right now, but I'll post it if I find it.

And LLR, that first video is by the same guy who wrote the FAQ for the Uber Challenge on GameFAQs. That guy is a world class OOT master. If only I could do the cuccoo jump as consistently as he (and certain other gamers) could...then I could do a proper speedrun. Either way it doesn't matter. I don't think speeddemosarchive accepts speed runs in which major chunks of the game are skipped. Still, it would be fun to see just how much time can be saved with these glitches. None of them are as quick as the up and down glitch from ALTTP, though...you literally have to play the game for 5-10 minutes and if you use the glitch, you skip all the way past Ganon to the Triforce! I've never tried this glitch, though, and I don't intend to...it ruins too much of the adventure of that game.

WOW! For the first time... I see a way to skip temples without doing the Water Temple! Thanks!

Yeah, I remember those tricks, it always makes OoT interesting to do it different orders each time. XD

The only adult dungeons that you need to finish are Shadow and Spirit. You can just get the bow from the Forest Temple and leave.

Although with a few glitches and bottle adventure, you can finish the entire game without entering a single dungeon even the child ones.

I imagine you wouldn't...? I don't know the exact details, but Kazooie (the person who beat TSA's OoT speed run with a 4:46) is attempting it. You can follow his progress on his Youtube channel here. He's up to segment four where he get's the Master Sword without any of the Spiritual Stones.

Dang! 4:46?

Must be some major loopholes in this game for that record...

4 hours and 46 minutes in case anyone couldn't tell.

http://speeddemosarchive.com/ZeldaOcarinaOfTime.html

There is also a best time with save warping at 2:26:56. And the 100% at 6:35.

So yeah, OoT is the most broken game in the series - the amount of glitches that have sprung up of the years is just ridiculous. But it just shows how popular it is even after so many years after it's been released and how much people love it. *shrugs*

Lol i know its wierd.. But in order to usually do these glitches and workarounds i would think most people would finish the original first.

There is no way you could speedrun the game without first knowing the game inside out, which would require you to play it through in its entirety and focus on specific sections separately.
