Hey there! I don't really post here that often, because while I love Zelda my interests are as varied as the Great Sea is vast, but today is a special occasion. For quite a while now, I've been trying to figure out, how do you make variation in Zoras and Kokiri? Okay, that's a little confusing, so let me back pedal and explain. I'm sure everyone reading this is at least vaguely familiar with character creation tools, such as in MMORPGs. I'm making a similar tool for.. well, it's Zelda-related, let's leave it at that. Nothing here is set in stone. There are a few problems I need help with, which I'll go over by race.

Character Creation

Gorons - Does anyone have a full color palette for TMC? As you can see, the Gorons are really suffering from lack of skin tone choices. The second, third, and possibly fourth need to be replaced. The things above the eye sets are the beards, which change color with the hair. Some of them could stand to be replaced. A the bottom are a few put together, and next to them the total number of possible combinations. As you can see, those Gorons at the bottom aren't very distinctive. Have any ideas (other than clothing) for making them look different?

Gerudo - Though they only have four hundred and ninety possible combinations, I'm pretty happy with the Gerudo (Gerudo is the plural of Gerudo, right? Eh). The second hairstyle is temporary, holding a place until I figure out how to make short spiky hair viewed from the same angle as the rest. The sunglasses are also temporary, until I make a good-looking scarred face. I'm not a fan of the green outfit, but a pirate warrior wore that color in MM, so I think I'll keep it. Aside from that, any ideas? Do the fierce ones look fierce? Do the cute ones look cute?

Zoras - As with the Gorons, I need some Zora skin tones. Also, I really need ideas for making them look unique. All I've got are small things... fin colors, head...tails..things, that are in a different position or something, possibly differently shaped fins... and that's it. What do Zoras need? Accessories (but not clothing) like Queen Zora has? There are male and female Zoras, but that doesn't mean here should be less options. I really need ideas on this one.

Kokiri - I have no idea what to do with the Kokiri, which I currently only have one design for each gender of. Obviously, hair and eyes that work like the Goron's, and different tunics, but... that's not much. The Kokiri really should be wearing green, but aside from fairies, I can't think of anything to add to them. I've considered giving them the ability to change into Skull Kids, but I don't think that makes up for the Kokiri being so simple.

So, if you have any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated! If you have TMC's full color palette, that would also be appreciated!

If you're wondering about the leaders of the races.. yeah, I put them in the image just because. The Goron Elder is based on the one from Oracle of Ages (see reference image below), and King Zora is just a TMC-ified version of the Oracle of Ages sprite. Queen Zora is just a regular female Zora the king chose to marry, who apparently likes wearing human-style clothing, and beside her is their daughter Ruka. The Gerudo Elders, possibly named Koume and Kotake, are... well, I just looked at the Gerudo Elders from FSA, said "old and short. got it", and started tossing pixels about. The thuggish Goron is there because there was too big of a gap at the top of that area.

Oh, and if you're interested in where the Zora sprites came from (how much can I possibly digress?!), almost the entire process of their creation is shown in the image linked below. Anyway, again, any help on this would be.. well, a big help! Especially with the Kokiri! Thanks for taking the time to read all of this!

How The Zoras came to be

No, no, I'm just asking for ideas. The Zoras and Gorons are customizable, but still boring to look at. They need something... more.

Hmmm.....Id say darker variations instead of the light variations.
Bright colors just cause my eyes to hurt maybe you should try.

Hmm maybe on the zora you should add sprites that look similar to the zora with helmets on TP.

Ok, i think the Goron should go even more tribal.

Like have tribal paint on them, make them more colourful.

Have red in their hair and stuff

the river zoras should be terquise, green doesnt suit them. try giving the gorons and zoras different kinds of tatoos and give the zoras lighter skin tones.

Make the zoras look like they did in oot and give them some reddish skin tones.
As for the kokiri:

-give them different shades of green for their tuniks

-give them different hair styles and possably different hair colors

-for pete's sake GIVE THEM HATS!

Some things you should consider with character creation is how it can be applied to the storyline and its history. The Gerudo, for instance, have always been a darker skin tone than, say, Hylians. It would be natural to assume that they have some sort of connection with a modern race. I believe they would stem around the Islamic regions, specifically because of the Islamic traits that were found in the original OoT. Moon and stars on the blocks and Mirror Shield? Rupees? Naturally placed in a DESERT? I think they might be some sort of Islamic. idk, but that's my take. I'll post more soon, I gotta go to my class...
