(This is directed at Christains or those willing to speak for Christians.)

Well, first you should know that homosexuality and hetrosexuality were both equal in terms of acception in Rome, aswell as Greece.

Now, the Bible says those who practive homosexuality will rot in hell. (I know it doesn't literally say that.) So why would God allow such sinners to lay the backbone for modern culture, technology, etc.?

I just don't understand. =/

EDIT: Greeks were gay aswell, and the same thing applies for them.

1.) "God works in mysterious ways"
2.) I don't see the problem, really.  God doesn't seem to hang out much anymore.  He/She/It lets us live and do our own thing most of the time.  Free choice is a big thing in a lot of religions.  People can choose to be gay sinners, but they go to Hell.  That is the view.  What they're doing doesn't really matter.

If Christians use the second argument then they're going to have to allow gay marriage.

Because all Christians are homophobes. I mean, I can understand where you would get that notion, but still, yay for stereotypes.

I can see why we're bringing up this debate again. We got so many useful insights last time. Like this:

A member of the same sex, a sister, a daughter, a cousin, a dog, a pig, an ape, a tree, a rock, E.T., or your recently deceased friend.

No more than they're going to have to allow murder.

Sin is a sin*.  People do it, doesn't mean you're happy about it.

The "free choice" is that choice given by God to let humans do whatever they want, including sin.  It has nothing to do with the legality of anything.  Gay marriage can be illegal without hampering the free choice given by God.

*though in this case the real sin is the consummation of marriage.  There's nothing inherently sinful about gay people getting married, I believe, just having nonreproductive sex.  Of course, the trick with gay marriage and the Church is that if you're married you're supposed to have sex ("be fruitful and multiply"), but if you have gay sex with your gay partner, that's a sin, and if you have heterosexual sex with someone who isn't your partner, THAT'S a sin.  So getting gay-married really backs you into a corner, sin-wise.

I was acknowledging that being homosexual is wrong in the eyes of Christians, not that all Christians are homophobes.

You're right that it doesn't literally say that, and there's even a lot of debate over whether or not it's even implied.

You don't try to justify or find meaning behind any sort of God's actions.  It's a logical nightmare, extremely pretentious from a religious viewpoint, impossible to answer, and any way you look at it it's a complete dead end.

I actually thought the last debate was pretty damn interesting while it lasted, but that's just me.

Call me stupid if I'm wrong but The Romans and Greeks didn't believe in the Christian God nor the Bible. So this argument doesn't really hold much ground does it?

St. Peter and St. Paul introduced Christianity in Rome somewhere after Jezus died. Going by God's will, He/She/It would've only wanted for them to convert ( in which he succeeded ultimately ) so the fact that homosexuality was accepted by them or not, is a moot point.
