Everybody seems way more excited about Versus XIII than Plain Ol' XIII, you know, the actual new entry in the main series. It makes me a little confused.
Heres the thing: XIII seems to be centered around tons of idiotic action scenes- in the first trailer it had Lightning dropping a thousand feet and then using a gravity gun. The second just showed more of the same, except a few new locations and reflexes that are too inhuman, even for a game. Then the third had some story but showed how much it centered on looking pretty.
Versus starts by having the lines. "There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes them so." This is to show that the plot is going to require a lot of thought and will show more a side to humanity than any of the other games. The song it has playing, Somnus, also helps to convey the story, though it's been a long time since I saw the translation. The second is the action oriented one, but still works on giving mystery to the main man, whose name was finally revealed two years ago, Noctis Lucis Caelum. The third trailer had a terrible song, but it added more factions into the story and the fourth was longer than all the others, giving even more details to the story and finally showing off three of Noctis' teammates, Stella, and even more of Nostis vs. the soldiers.
Versus is liked so much better because it is much more story focused than Normal XIII, which is almost all about the action and pretty graphics.
Any questions about any of the XIIIs, ask me.
