CVG's review. They give it a 9.0. They're not big fans of the co-op mode, but they seem to absolutely love the single-player and the level design in general. It's only nine days away!

This video is amazing. (Spoilers for a very early level.) As lacking as Nintendo's first-party offerings have been lately, this looks completely worth the wait. Wii game of the year? Probably.

IGN gave it an 8.9. Which I understand isn't a bad score, but it's kind of disappointing considering NSMB DS got a 9.5. Especially when they say "it could easily be the finest Super Mario Bros. 2D platformer Nintendo's ever created." They wouldn't have complained at all if the multiplayer had been left out, which is a shame. Have there even been that many online platformers? On a somewhat happier note (if you care about reviews), 1UP gave it an A+.I'll be picking this up on Sunday if I have the chance.

So I picked it up yesterday, and I've played through World 1. Nothing really challenging or amazing yet, but the level design is definitely a big improvement over NSMB DS. Looking forward to playing through the rest of the game.
Everyone who owns a Wii needs to get this game. It's Mario!

I encountered my first Green Block of Shame today. Mainly because I've always been terrible at keeping up with those snaking platforms, and it's even harder when they're made of ice.
The Penguin Suit is freaking amazing, at least in World 3. It's so much more than just "Ice Mario with traction". Koopa Mario only wishes he was this cool. The Propeller Suit is somewhat less awesome, though it's still pretty fun.
If you don't already have this game, you're harming yourself you really need to get it as soon as possible. It's completely worth it.

I'm at the halfway point of world 4. The Penguin suit might be even more amazing underwater than it is above ground. It definitely makes the underwater levels much more enjoyable.
The fortresses have also impressed me quite a bit. I don't want to go into too much detail, but there's so much innovation going on that you have to wonder why NSMB DS couldn't have been this good.

So far, I'm not too impressed. It's definitely easier than the NES versions, but so far. The challenge isn't there.
I'm up to 20+ credits and a gazillion power-ups.

How far are you, Witless? I thought the game showed a significant uptick in quality beginning with World 3 (though there were a lot of things in the first two world that I liked).

I'm just beginning World 3. I have about 40 credits? Hehe.
World 3 is a bit more difficult than World 1 and 2 I have to admit, but that's due to my recklessness with the Penguin suit.
Though, I'm bummed you can't bring Yoshi with you after a level. I would've loved it more if it was a Super Mario 3 and Super Mario World fusion of sorts. Then again, it sort of is, but at the same time it isn't.
Also, I wished they bring better power-ups other than Fire Flower and Ice Flower. The Penguin suit doesn't charm me as much as I thought. Raccoon suit anyone?

I'm enjoying this game. It's not without its flaws, but still fun. I find the control is a little stiff, and pace seems a tad slower than SMB3 or SMW. But I like it's level design.
I think it's also a lot of fun with multiple people. I've played with 2 friends, and while it's chaos sometimes, it's fun chaos! We play co-op style, not "screw you!" style, so it's understood that fragging is accidental. I also like the fact that there's an "I suck" button so a player who isn't quite as good can float in a bubble and won't hold back everyone from advancing in the game.
I'm just a little bummed that Larry Koopa is the first Koopa Kid boss. He's my favorite!

I think the devs are trying to avoid giving you power-ups that let you skip entire portions of a level by flying over it, which is why we aren't getting the Cape or Raccoon Suit. I haven't gotten to play multiplayer yet. It sounds like a great deal of fun.
