This started off as sort of a joke between friends, but does warrant some serious thinking.

Link is a legacy character. We know now that the hero of one game is not the same person in another given Zelda. With that in mind, it can be predicted that somewhere down the line, we're going to get yet another person named Link, who looks even more different from the rest, after all in Hylian lore there are probably several, several different Links that we haven't even seen yet.

...what if one of those was a girl? Or even more immediately, what if one that we all know and cherish has a secret under the tunic? It has been said before that certain incarnations of Link (especially on NES and SNES) seem feminine. AAand if Pikminlink can do such a good job cosplaying the opposite sex, maybe that's saying something.

after all,

outfit (sometimes) and haircut (also sometimes),
Seems to ignore most or all girls attracted to him, but spends a lot of time interacting with creepy men.
the rings and bracelets

and on a less serious note

lack of certain parts as a wolf
...just where does he hide all those items anyways?

Made to be a family game and goes under the whole sexuality and stuff in games, TV shows and movies.
And he puts them in a bad, play some Zelda and you'd actually know that.

I think I talk for everyone when I say, Sir, you are one dumb ass.

Wow, I don't think they had gender changes back then...unless link used some of that magic stuff. 'Course being a metroid fan I don't mind a female heroine!
