If you bought a wii or a wii controller at launch or even shortly after launch Nintendo is offering to replace your straps for free. This is after all the complaints of straps breaking after extreme wiimote usage. Even if you don't believe those accounts of straps breaking are true its better to be safe then sorry. especially when the straps are free. Everyone should go to nintendo.com for more information. This applies to people from the UK and Japan as well so just check the website for information. You will have to submit some personal information so make sure it's okay with your parents first.

Just to clarrify, the majority of new shipments of wii's will have the new strap as standard, so if you buy your wii after this point, you should have the new strap, if you are unsure, a picture can be used to clarify:
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/straps.jsp
This especially applies to people who buy their wii's in January or after, by then most wii's will be from a new shipment.

like i said...its your choice...but this is completely free. You don't even have to pay shipping. And it's better to be safe then sorry. plus wearing the extra thick straps means if you get mad at the game you can throw the controller and it won't go anywhere!

I ordered two, one for my original Wiimote and one for the extra that I'm getting for Christmas (which was bought before the new straps were applied, I'm pretty sure). I haven't had any problems, but it's free, and I like getting mail. :D
