I'd give Nintendo of America's support a D+
Did I really say that? Hmm. Well now that I've gotten the chance to play NSMBWii, I'd bump it up to a C. A fantastic end to a frustrating year.

Oh I imagine that NSMB is good but, that still doesn't change the fact that it was this year that drove me to the breaking point of getting a system I said I wouldn't get unless things looked really ugly for the Wii.  The fact that I hda to get an Xbox means Nintendo was failing.

Get a PS3 while you're at it.

If you game alot, you pretty much have to get a Xbox360 or PS3, unless you game on your PC. My Wii is now a complete Homebrew project.

I'm fine with the choice of the Xbox, they're pretty much the same system anyway, aside from a few exclusives between the two.  I really don't like any of the modern gaming systems, though.

I'm pretty happy with my gaming situation right now. I have to finish NSMB and Mario & Luigi, and then I have Dead Space and LostWinds 2 to go through. I'm also going to finally get to play Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, which I expect to be good. Plus, Spirit Tracks is coming out in less than two weeks, so I'm excited for that.

The year has been pretty boring and all, but what I'm really hoping is that Nintendo should concentrate more on their classic games and gaming style. The GameCube was amazing in every way - more games need to be like that.

All in all, I got so tired of the way Nintendo has been treating the Wii and its games recently i just gave up on most of them. I only keep it for the games I have now, and the Virtual Console and some Wii ware games.

JordAnime: I really don't like any of the modern gaming systems, though.

Totally agreeable. I just bought a slim PS2 and 4 games from my friend because all the new stuff is just so degrading to the Wii's ancestors. I'm concentrating mostly on the older stuff now.

The only thing I can say thanks for about the Wii is giving me a connection to VC.

And instead of getting a Star Fox this cycle, we're getting Sin and Punishment. Which is going to be infinitely better.

But I would like them to finish up Pikmin sooner rather than later.

What I hear you saying is "The [SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE] was amazing in every way - more games need to be like [SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE]."  Would you care to revise your statement?

Arite, you caught me. Well not all of the games were the best but come one, you don't have to get THAT technical. But overall, its better than the Wii

Gamecube had two of the worst entries for Mario and Zelda on it.  Mario Sunshine is the worst of the core Mario games as far as I go, and Twilight Princess is probably the worst Zelda game, at the very least it was the first console Zelda game to actually be significantly inferior to its predecessors.  Twilight Princess was also a far cry from the others in the series, and that was a Gamecube development.  Metroid was reborn on the Wii, and probably the best Nintendo published title for the platform, and Gamecube gave us RE4 which is the most brilliant game of the entirety of the last generation, so it was worth it for me.

So far, Wii's provided two excellent Mario experiences in the form of Galaxy and NSMB Wii, Metroid Prime 3 and the trilogy collection, and, I'll keep my for good experiences with Mario Galaxy 2(I think it'll be hard to fuck that one up), Metroid: Other M, and...I'm really hoping the new Zelda is the Mario Galaxy of the franchise, we'll see though.  I'd say over all Nintendo has gotten its baring on better with first party games, but third party Wii games have been just miserable.  I can't point out a single third party game built for Wii that is as quality as any Nintendo game.

Two of the best games on the system.

Before I get any further, I think I should say that I really do think that at the moment GameCube is the better console, but it's definitely not as perfect as some people's nostalgia glasses are making it look. It gave us Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Pikmin 2, Paper Mario 2, Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, and DK Jungle Beat. So while it might have been the system of Sunshine and four Mario Parties (after all, Wii has DK Barrel Blast and Wii Music), it was still a very good system.

Two of the best games on the system.

I couldn't play past the first five minutes of Zak and Wiki without wanting to ram my head into a trash compactor.  I hated, hated, hated that game.

World of Goo was kind of neat but it's not really a full game.

It gave us...Paper Mario 2, Wind Waker...DK Jungle Beat.

Wait, are those supposed to be good things

All five of those are good things.

World of Goo was the indie version of Luigi's Mansion. Except better.

How is this even possible?

How is this even possible?

Every second of it was obnoxious and unlikable.  I hated Zak and Wiki more than just about any other video game characters I can think of, and the game wasn't very compelling either, I've had more fun watching paint dry.

Paper Mario 2, Wind Waker, and Jungle Beat were all steps down for those franchises.  I mean, Donkey Kong used to be in real games at one point, Paper Mario 2 was just so text heavy that I think I wore out one of my Gamecube's A-buttons, and Wind Waker...ei...

But I guess we've wandered off the trail of 2009.  The only good Wii game I can think of that came out this year is New Super Mario Bros.  It's a great game, but it is just one game.
