Some of you might remember this happening before. Now I'm trying it again.
So this is what's going on.
Diplomacy is a board game, often described as a combination of Risk and Chess. Like Risk, you're moving around armies in an attempt to take over the world. Like Chess, the game relies heavily on strategy and planning, and lacks any sort of randomized results. In addition, there's a huge diplomatic element (hence, the name). In order to win, you have a strategically make/break alliances, forge deals with people, and back stab the right people at the right times.
As you might imagine, this makes Diplomacy pretty damn fun to play with people you know.
While Diplomacy was originally made as a board game that a group of people could play through in a matter of hours, it also works pretty well as an online sort of game spread out over a much longer period of time.
And I figure now that these forums have been a little more active, maybe we'd get some people to sign up. It's fun, relatively simple to understand (doubly so, since I'd be handling any of the really weird or obscure situations that might pop up), and only takes a little bit of your time. However, it does take some time, so you probably won't get as much out of the game if you can't show up online for a few minutes at least two/three times during the week. But it only would take a few minutes each time you did.
I've already got a forum set up for the game, so all you'd have to do is sign up there and start posting. All the game stuff can be done straight from the forum, so I guess it's kinda convenient. I mean, it'd be nice if we could do it on these forums, but it'd be kinda hard to have private conversation with other players if we could have mods/admins playing as well.
This is the link. You might consider bookmarking it if you're interested.
http://s9.invisionfree.com/ZHQ_Diplomacy/index.phpAs it stands, we can play with as many as seven people, or as few as three or four. So if you're interested, post or something.
