See for youself.

http://www.sega.com/sonic4/us/index.html

Yes finally a console 2-D sonic game... The game is supposed to pick up after the events of Sonic 3 and Knuckles... And quite frankly I think there's a chance for sonic yet!!!

It's supposed to include such amazing nostalgia-inducing things as:

Badniks! *Huzzah!!!*

Special stages! *super sonic!!!*

updated classic battles *back when Egghead was known as Dr. Robotnik!*

The site is covered with countdown timers, so there's more wher that came from!

This game will be download only, so save your pennies!

So...what do you think???

That looks AWESOME. I am super excited...wonder how many Wii points it'll be. I have a 2000 gift card so maybe I'll save it. When's it supposed to be released?

I for one support this decision, as a smurf I find it shocking how little the blue community is represented in video game culture, and I hope this will be a turning point for blue civil rights.

Well Sega wasn't helping things with it's endless list of gimmicks...Poor blue dudes...

Anyways, you're supposed to be able to use the homing attack.

The X-360 and PS3 versions are supposed to run with 1080p, while the wii version is supposed to use motion controls. (if it's for anything BUT the homing attack I may not buy...)

@ Big Tater, from what I see the release date and price haven't been revealed yet...

And another thing, Sonic 4 is supposed to be a MULTI EPISODE title.

I won't have a problem with this so long as each episode is as long as a full classic sonic game, or better yet, as long as the spliced game Sonic 3 and Knuckles!

Yeah I like the multi episode thing...as long as we don't have to wait 5 years between each one XD

More like his eighth chance.

"Trailer". Doesn't show anything though.

However, I love Sonic the Hedgehog, 'specially the Mega Drive games, and I'm really hoping this turns out good. I'll have to find a way to play it when the time comes. And truth be told, I'd like for Tails to be in it. Mainly just follow Sonic around mindlessly and get in the way like in the old games. :3

Also, I'm not really a fan of Sonic's character model. I preferred the old one they show at the beginning of the trailer. :x

I came here to post this.

Anyway I'm excited for this game, even if it perpetuates the annoying HD philosophy of 2D games not being worth a spot on retailers' shelves.

By "second chance" I meant the only try that wasn't doomed from the first trailer.

And on another note, I hope they handle the story the same way they did with Sonic 3 and Knuckles.
No voice acting. Please.
Just show us what's going on, and don't poison it with unbeleivably annoying voices yelling "oh no! It's eggman!!!" Eww.
If they gave sonic the voice he had in the original TV show, I'd be cool with that.

Sonic Unleashed was awesome in its first trailer. They ruined it later.

Not the werehog.

The rest of the game was awesome.

So tecnically, it showed the awesome part, then doomed it with the werehog trailer.

wonder how many Wii points it'll be.
I'd guess 1000 points per episode. That seems to be the norm for this kind of game.

I'm not sure I like the idea of having motion controls in the Wii game. If it's not designed specifically for the system, I think they should keep motion out of the game.

I wonder if you're going to absolutely have to have motion controls. I really don't want to spend extra money

Sonic was far and away my favorite game franchise growing up, and when I first heard about Project Needlemouse, it did perk my interest.  Sonic Unleashed(the HD versions), running portions, were absolutely amazing(for the most part), the sense of speed and movement was like the fulfillment of some long unknown childhood memories.  The problems came with everything else in the game, and there were even issues with the running stages...but I think if they had just focused on the running stages, it'd be a modern classic.

The first bit of disappointing news about this game, I thought, was that it would be Downloadble only.  The second big disappointment was the name Sonic 4.  I mean, after Sonic and Knuckles, I was waiting very patiently for Sonic 4, something that just never came.  Now it's as if after years of horrible Sonic games, it's as if Sega's like "Hey, it's okay, we're coming out with Sonic 4 now!"  The problem is, and I know we haven't seen much, is that it looks nothing like I'd have envisioned a Sonic 4 to be.  It features long-quilled Sonic, the 3D design, all that, it just doesn't go along with what I'd consider Sonic 4 to be.  I was hoping they'd make that Genesis/32X game that never existed, but nope, seems like it much just be Sonic Advance in 3D...blegh...  The last big dissapointment, it's episodic.  That means it'll probably be three parts, and when it's all said and done, Sega will release a special disc edition with more content just to piss everyone off.

Well, anyway, I'll be watching this one, if Sega can pull it off(and I doubt that they can), color me impressed, for now, I'm expecting another kick in the balls.

Apparently DIMPS is developing Sonic 4, the designers of the Sonic Advance series and Sonic Rush, as well as the day-time level designers of Sonic Unleashed for the Wii version.  I didn't find the Advance series to be that good, or Rush, though I think the Wii Sonic stages for Unleashed were better designed than its HD counterparts(but it was the raw visual quality of the HD versions that won me over).

Also, here is the first "leaked" footage of the game:

A good part of me is still saying that the Sonic ship sailed with Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

I'm in the camp that thoroughly enjoyed the Sonic Adventure series, but I know many hated it.

The clip looks promising. Sonic seems to have that sense of speed that was lost in recent incarnations. Hopefully the music is as good as 1-3. I loved the old sonic sound tracks.

I'm at a loss for words. I hate when companies try to force the functionality of peripherals and controllers into games. That level looks absolutely infuriating and way too responsive. What's worse is I've heard whispers that they completely managed to screw up the physics of the game. It's pretty disheartening.

If Team Megaman can go back to its roots and make a fun, new experience I don't see why team Sonic can't. There was nothing too new about Megaman 9 and 10, because there didn't need to be. Why they can't do the same for Sonic is beyond me.

Because megaman fans wanted a return to norm, alot of sonic fans are mad that the new game doesnt have shadow and silver in it.

Sonic fans suck.
