I went with "I Forgive You" at first but it looks weird as a thread title. "Because I say so" could work too. The Internet seems to think that it's a year in the future, since the show started at Walt's 50th birthday and a year has gone by in show time. That's an awful lot of time to account for. Feels weird to speculate about Breaking Bad. They haven't teased anything like this since season 2! Seriously, how terrifying is this.

Gene, don't read the next spoiler if you don't wanna think ahead in the series. Episode four of this season is titled "Fifty One" so I assume that's his birthday. Someone on reddit said that Vince Gilligan doesn't like skipping forward in time, so it's likely that scene will be one of the last ones of the show. If I had to guess I'd say that once all this business with Gus is cleaned up, Walt and Jesse get back to cooking, then maybe everything rolls smooth for a little bit and we get one of those cool cooking montages. Then there's a pretty big time gap for crazy shit to go down.
As for the scene itself, I think the bacon 52 callback is a sign that Walt misses his family. Whether he left them voluntarily/out of necessity or if they left him voluntarily/out of necessity will be interesting to find out.
Oh, and I've heard speculation that the next "villain" in the show will be the German mega corporation that was behind both the restaurant and the laundromat. I'm really, really interested in whether they honestly didn't know it was going on or if they're some crazy fucking global drug trade. If previous seasons are anything to go by, everyone will think the former, but Walt/Hank's crazy magical intuition will make them suspect some variation of that latter that ends up being exactly right.

Great episode. I wonder how much of Gus' company actually is crooked.

I wondered if every one of those fast-food companies was supposed to be a front as well, but it makes more sense that only Pollos would be. They need mostly legitimate businesses to keep up appearances. Plus, if one fell (as it did), the others would be exposed as well.
Also: Jeez, this was a good episode for Jonathan Banks. A fantastic exploration of the character, and definitely his best episode since "Half Measures" (or maybe even his best ever).

Yeah, I loved seeing Mike get interrogated by Hank and Steve, he handled it about the way I thought he would, calm and giving them nothing. His reaction to the money going to his granddaughter has me wondering though, it almost seems like he genuinelly hadn't known about it. I was surprised that Gus had him on the books as an employee at all though, not something I'd have thought a guy like Mike would be comfortable with.

So yeah, this episode really put into persepctive just how much Walt and Jessie have changed since the series began. Walt's pretty much lost track of himself at this point, I think. Can't believe he threw Skyler under the bus with the whole affair thing. I feel bad for Skyler, but it was also kinda nice to finally hear her say to Marie what I've been mentally screaming at her since the first episode.

Hahahaha, Walt's just the worst. Throwing another burden on Skyler, destroying Jesse's personal life, and contemplating killing Mike in one episode? That's a new record. Walt's done resting on his laurels, and now he's busy setting up dominoes that are bound to crash down on him sooner or later.
I always love when Marie gets things to do, especially after her great episodes from early last season. This week she was basically just a sponge for Walt and Skyler's marital problems, but it's better than she's gotten in a while.

I don't think he's at fault for Jessie's decision to break off his relationship. He basically advised Jessie to be honest, and that's one of the few times lately where I think he was being genuine. His response to Jessie telling him about said break up, however, was pretty dick.

"HEY BUDDY, LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU NEED MORE POISON *FISTBUMP*" is how the scene went in the first draft of the season. It was Walt's third personality, Loki coming into play. But best meth-cooking scene we've got in awhile. Fucking beautiful meth-cooking scene.

Been a while, yeah, but in all fairness, at the end of season 4, we did get a pretty glorious meth-lab-cooking scene right after a somewhat unnerving Gus-cooking scene.

His response to Jessie telling him about said break up, however, was pretty dick. Ehh, it was pretty clear that he was uncomfortable with the relationship. There may have been some genuine emotion involved in that conversation, but I think that it was ultimately done with a goal in mind. Hearing some VERY positive buzz for Sunday's episode, "Fifty-One." It's the second episode directed by indie film director Rian Johnson, who was at the helm of my favorite Breaking Bad episode.

First off, Bryan Cranston is a fucking amazing actor. The length of some takes in this episode was extraordinary. Give that guy another emmy. And my prediction on the future of the season: Walt, at some point, strangles Skylar. Then sets her up to look like she hung herself. That's the unforgivable thing Vince has hinted at.

Anna Gunn gave her best performance of the series tonight, let's give her some credit. Amazing that the show was able to pull off a sparring scene without any physical violence and turn it into one of the most unbelievably brutal television moments I've seen. Incredible work from all involved.
For the first time I find myself actively terrified of Skyler (even as I find myself sympathizing with her more than ever) for thoughts of what she might do in her desperation. Her last scene gave me the horrible idea that she might off herself, even.

At this point I think Walt barely remembers why he started cooking meth in the first place. Can't believe how far he's fallen in his relationship with Skyler. I think I understand Skyler's smoking now, maybe in some dark corner of her mind she's hoping the second hand smoke will worsen his cancer.

She's doing the only thing within her power (and her own personal limits) to bring him down and flaunting it as much as she can. Fantastic production still from the episode. Walt is Jaws.

I wonder how far they're gonna take this fued. I honestly can't see either one of them physically harming the other. As far as the business side of this episode went, I can't believe Gus ever did any business with Lydia at all, she's clearly not trustworthy. Wonder how the heist is gonna go down.

Two instant classics in a row. "Nothing stops this train." This season's starting to approach S3 levels of great. :o
Can we put promo talk in separate spoiler tags? I make a point not to watch them.

That ending was messed up. I can't see Jessie not beating that guy to death in the next episode.

Nah, Landry was just following directions. Nothing Jesse can do there. He'll definitely have some sort of emotional fallout though, which is good since Aaron Paul hasn't really had anything to do this season.
I wouldn't be surprised if Walt ended up killing Landry at some point though.
Only three episodes left this year. I (irrationally?) feel like the midseason finale has to involve a major character dying and I'm really worried. :/

Directions or not, Jesse's never taken the abuse of a child sitting down. I still think he's going to respond violently.
