Since dance dance revolution hit arcade floors, developers have been scrambling to make you feel like you were part of the music. We've seen plastic guitars, bongos, and a dj turntable. But to some, all this is getting rather stale.
So I ask you, what do you think is next for the music game industry? Will we get infinite iterations of rockband/guitar hero? Will we see the triumphant return of DDR? Or donkey konga? Will one band music games be successful? Will they try to cram more instruments into the band formula? What
do you think?

Guitar Hero seems to be on its way out of the spotlight (being run by Activision tends to do that to a series), and I wouldn't be surprised if Rock Band was dragged down with it. I think we'll see the genre revived five or so years from now, but until then I think they'll just keep milking the current franchises into irrelevance.

As for Donkey Konga, I think we've seen the last of that series. It was one of Nintendo's first expanded audience titles, but they have much more successful brands now, and I think they'd rather focus on those. The fact that we didn't even see Donkey Konga 3 in North America didn't help.

If Nintendo manages to make a Wii Music sequel that isn't completely awful, it might be something to look out for.

or epic clusterfuck. Your gonna have the people who catch on fast *cough cough* or the people who fucking blow. and god knows the user friendliness is gonna go to shit just like that cuz people will scratch their heads like clueless apes wondering who replaced there bright and shiny GREEN RED YELLOW BLUE ORANGE with 17 frets of confusion. There's gonna be one hell of an adjustment period I tell ya.

Smart move leaving the current system of play intact for the game. Hopefully they'll heavily distinguish the difference between "Guitar" and "Pro Guitar," might even want to throw in a tutorial video. However, I do think this system will work out well for anyone that actually plays a string instrument (mine's the cello), or those learning the guitar (like me). As for the Drums, it won't take too long for the hardcore players to get used to it. If the person isn't going to put much time into learning, they probably shouldn't choose "pro" in the first place.

I wonder if they'll have a seperate 4-string bass...that would be ideal for those who have played a bass and know the difference. (again, like me) The keys look fairly standard, the non-pro looks like it's only in one octave. And like the guitar, those who play the piano (sadly, not me on this one) should be the only ones choosing "pro".

Yeah... I guess pro is considered for the hardcore lovers (like me) or those who play guitar (Raises hand)
