After the initial excitement of watching the press conference has died down, I can assess this new Zelda game with a clearer head. After all is said and done... I'm mildly impressed, for now.

The graphics are... tolerable. I much prefer TP's ultra-gritty realism, but this is definitely a step up from TWW. I can see why they did this, however. The Wii's aging hardware wasn't going to be capable of rendering anything much more realistic than TP was, so they decided to take the graphics in a different direction. Makes sense, but so far, this game is way too bright and colorful for my tastes.

All the game mechanics sound interesting, and I like that Link can now dash and do some Assassin's Creed-style parkour, but I really need to see some real in-depth impressions on the gameplay before getting real excited. It didn't help that Miyamoto's presentation was embarrassingly plagued with problems.

But yeah... the scene with Link's cliff dive... that got me pumped. Is he going to fly? Or land on a flying beast?

Here's the trailer in case anybody was having a hard time finding it.

Looks brilliant.  I loved The Wind Waker along with Twilight Princess, Ocarina, etc.  Its clearly more detailed then TWW but has the cel shaded element which I think will work perfectly.  The Wii can't pump out high def graphics so why try and give us a game that pushes the console to the limits with half assed results when you can have a perfectly beautiful game with some slight anime/cel shaded elements to it.  I've been looking forward to a new Zelda for a while now, from graphics and footage on the game play I can tell I'll be a happy camper.
